Cabin on the Lake

  • 5 of 5

Nice well stocked cabin. Had lots of fun. Thank you Lori for working with us to accommodate our change in dates because of hurricane Irma.

This cottage was wonderful. Spacious and equiped with all principal amenities, we could have stayed so much longer. Sunsets were fantastic even if the weather was not always on our side. Thanks for allowing us this family time off in such a calm environment!

Beautiful lakefront

  • 3 of 5

My wife an I visited in early October as part of a retirement trip to New England. The location of the cabin is right on Lake Champlain and we enjoyed beautiful sunsets and lake scenery. The cabin was fine for our needs. We were able to take several day trips to enjoy the fall colors and Montreal is a 90-minute drive away.

A few things to know:

A larger party may need more than the one bathroom the cabin provides.

The main floor bedroom could use better lighting for reading.

The cabin is surrounded by beautiful farmland. If you go in the fall beware that the farmers treat their fields with manure and this creates quite a stench. We were not able to go outside the first day because of the stink.

The newer shopping areas are in the north part of St. Albans and is worth the drive.

We enjoyed our stay. New England in the fall is spectacular.

Owner's Response: We are glad the two of you were able to enjoy our cottage which is on Lake Champlain and enjoy beautiful sunsets, the lake’s beauty, trips to enjoy the fall colors and short drive to Montreal. As stated in our listing, we have one bathroom and with several large parties that we have hosted they have made it work fine for them. The master bedroom has three sources of lighting: ceiling fan with three light bulbs, light on the wall and end table lamp. One of the beauties of our state is the picturesque farmlands. With farmers using organic means to fertilize there is an odor after they spread but it doesn’t last long. The nearest farm is over a mile away. A few things to know about our cottage: 1) Quiet setting with only four other cottages on a private one-mile road. 2) Large deck just off the beach. 3) Wildlife with birds and turtles to enjoy. 4) Large double lot to enjoy for outdoor games, privacy from neighbors and being able to spread out and enjoy yourself. 5) Well stocked with plenty of kitchen supplies such as microwave, toaster, blender, two coffee makers, crock pot, waffle maker, snow cone maker and many more items. 6) Plenty of sheets, blankets and towels. 7) Four burner gas grill with side burner. 8) Picnic table with umbrella and many deck chairs. 9) Games and puzzles for both kids and adults for rainy days. 10) Glassed in sunroom for beautiful viewing of the lake. 11) Glass along front of cottage to be able to view the lake from both downstairs and upstairs. 12) Washer and dryer. 13) Air conditioning and heaters in each bedroom and living area (many cottages do not have). 14) Satellite TV & Internet. 15) Dock with 14’ aluminum boat and paddle boat.

Pleasant, affordable , off season quiet was great.

Nice little place. Adequate for my husband and I. Days were hot and nights cool. It was not easy to get a nice breeze or air flow at night using the windows. The ac unit in living room prevented outside air flow unless you turned on the ac. There isn't any screen for the sliders on the water side and too many insects to leave the sliding doors open. Could not open bedroom window. The setting is gorgeous. I rented a kayak and went all over. Saw many birds and of course the sun basking turtles.

This is an extremely shallow area so fishing was tricky. I loved the setting. the kayaking and the large deck especially at night.

Owner's Response: It sounds like you enjoyed the water with kayaking, We agree the setting is gorgeous - very peaceful and relaxing with beautiful sunsets off the large deck. The A/C units have settings where they can be used to draw in the cool outside air along with three living room windows making for comfortable conditions. With the large bedroom window opened (after it is unlocked) and the A/C unit drawing in the cooler air on the fan setting along with the ceiling fan makes for comfortable sleeping. Enjoying the wildlife is enjoyable with the birds and the turtles sunning themselves on the rocks in the water.

Great Rental!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week. The cottage was clean, quiet and cozy. Loved the location, just a short drive to stores, Camp Kilcare, or St. Albans park. There is so much to do in this area. Lori and her family were so personable and easy to work with. We can't wait to return!
