Shooting Star Cabin 3 is a luxury Jackson Hole vacation home on a stunning spread in the exclusive Shooting Star golf and alpine community. Cabin 3 is clad in rustic rough-cut reclaimed fur, with a welcoming, cabin-like, log and mortar entryway; two wings reach out like arms to embrace the clear stream and huge valley views. Inside is a haven of family-oriented comfort: a quartet of big armchairs pulled up before the stone fireplace in the great room; a wide television for movie night; jaunty pillows and throws of red and blue against the soft cream upholstery and walls.
The dining area’s long, wood table stands between the living room and the kitchen, where a center island with prep sink, ample counter space, a Viking stove and a view to the mountains, provide the perfect work space for the family chef. The warmth and cheery crackle of the wood-burning, stone fireplace in the living area can be seen and heard from the kitchen and dining room. French doors open to the terrace, outdoor dining, and the roomy hot tub. A little stream slips by on its way to the Snake River, and the golf course rolls toward the mountains.
The carpeted master bedroom stands in the west wing of Cabin 3, with a huge, cut stone fireplace of its own. The king bed faces the fire, with its hefty wood mantle; a reading chair waits under a picture window. The master bath is a calm and lovely retreat fitted in cream painted wood and pale tile, with a soaking tub, double sinks, and a walk-in shower.
A guest suite set above the garage is as spacious and appealing as a second master: with a traditional, iron bedstead, a leather armchair and fleecy upholstered ottoman, even a coffee counter for early risers. Mullioned, wood windows look straight up the ski slopes. Just down the hall is a fun bunkroom, with four single bunks, and sheepskin rugs to warm bare feet. The bunkroom has its own bathroom, with double sinks and a tub/shower combination.
A landing at the top of the main staircase serves as a sitting area and can become a spill-over sleeping area when the sofa is pulled out into a double bed. Just off the landing, a fourth bedroom has two cloud-soft twin beds standing side by side, each with a bedside table and reading lamp. Its private bath has double sinks and a shower. A pull-out sofa in the cozy, ground-floor den provides additional bedding options.
Shooting Star is a private golf community – which in turn becomes a jaw-droppingly gorgeous cross-country ski course in the winter. Guests of Cabin 3 have limited access to Shooting Star privileges, but the National Parks, world-class fly fishing, and unforgettable hiking and biking trails are always available nearby. One of the best parts of staying at Shooting Star Cabin 3 is the fabulous ‘ski valet’: someone will help you with all your gear, and the shuttle will take you right to the base of ski mountain, and back home again when the lifts close.
