Tree house adventure!

  • 5 of 5

Bob was so kind to let us squeeze our family of five into the smaller tree house. Our young kids had an absolute blast and thought waking up in a tree house was so awesome! The property is quite lovely with a beautiful view of the creek! A must stay if you are in the Nauvoo area!

Charming, comfortable retreat

  • 5 of 5

We came here for my husband’s birthday weekend to get away from the city and let our dog run around. What a wonderful retreat!

The Whitetail Treehouse is incredibly charming and comfortable. We grilled, enjoyed the fire pit, and sat on the balcony listening to the birds and running water w glasses of wine. The best. The property is huge so it feels very private, but also safe since Bob’s house is nearby and he’s very responsive to calls/texts. Zoey (our dog) was able to roam and explore the creek, bridges, and hills, and stare at the adorable goats.

Also, the climate control in the treehouse was SO impressive. It’s March and the weather’s in the 30s, but the tree house is so well insulated and heated, you’d never know. It’s the winter so the running water is off, but we were given a huge supply of drinking and washing water, so it’s all good.

Oh also another perk: the “mascots” London and Paris, the sweetest country dogs I’ve ever met.

Would definitely return, esp to experience the Captain’s Quarters and the renovated 200 yr old log cabin. Thanks again, Bob!

Nice quiet place to get away!

  • 5 of 5

I decided to rent this as a get away for the night. We had lots of snow and Mother Nature decided to warm up so the walk to our tree house was a bit slick and muddy. I packed a picnic and off we went. It was very easy to find. We left our stuff and went for a hike around the property. Like I said it was damp but a nice place. Would love to come back in the summer and enjoy the fire pit. We stayed in the whitetail treehouse. Plenty of space for the two of us. Enjoyed our meal. I am scared of Heights. Was a little worried about the loft but I did just fine. We actually slept with the windows open around the bed. Was a beautiful night. Very peaceful and relaxing. We could see the goats from our back deck. We arrived before Bob got home and we didn’t see the dogs but we never needed anything. It would of been nice to talk to him and get the story behind his ideas of the treehouses. Like I said it was a snow melting mud mess and no need to get out in it. Remember when renting this you are in the woods, you will walk up small hill to get where you need to go and mother nature plays a part in your hike. We were plenty warm enough and had what we needed. Thank you Bob for allowing us to rent your treehouse. I am sure we will come again!

Step off the grid for some R&R and a unique experience

  • 5 of 5

I gave my daughters, ages 12 and 15 an experience gift for Christmas this year. We got to spend two nights in Whitetail during our Christmas break. We have been fascinated with Tiny Houses and wanted to have a chance to see what living in one would be like for a couple days. It was cute and cozy. Although it was cold, with temps in teens and single digits, the space heater and electric fireplace provided sufficient heat for us. We loved walking the trails on the property. The bridges that went across the creek were so much fun! Bob Hopp was very helpful to us. We appreciate his help and prompt reply to our texts. We enjoyed several delicious meals at The Hamilton Family Restaurant. Reasonable prices, a huge variety on the menu, and delicious food. We made great memories here and hope to return again!
