Professionally designed and decorated with custom furnishings and luxurious amenities, built in 2000.

Pick fruits off the trees- harvest vegetables from the vegetable garden-collect eggs from the chicken coop- hike-bike- and enjoy all the pleasures of wine country living. Many world class wineries within walking distance and a five star resort 1/2 mile away with membership privileges for our renters.

About Don & Rela Gleason

We fell in love with the wine country.- Head over heels- heart pounding IN LOVE. Long before destination restaurants and faux tuscan villas dotted the landscape we were seduced by the gentle gracious life of wine country. We made a list of what we were seeking in a property and began a search that took us 20 years. Finally in 1999 we found it !- 40 acres just off the Silverado Trail on a country lane half way between St Helena and Calsitoga.Close in- completely secluded- a miniature valley of its own tucked between two hills and a mountain. An overgrown tangle of vegetation and poison oak twining high into the trees. No roads- no water- no electricity- but we knew this was it.

We personally cleared the land armed with clippers and a chain saw and the beauty and character of the place began to emerge along with some amazing views. In 2000 we built the Twin Cottages and the love affair blossomed. We planted the vineyard and harvested our first vintage of GLEASON Cabarnet in 2005 and in 2008 we had our first crush of olive oil. Our vineyard farm has become the family gathering place. it is where our children and grandchildren- family and friends come to recharge. Even our Yellow Lab, Finley loves it here. He wanders the property overseeing all activities. He will be here to greet you upon your arrival

We have since built our main house above and out of sight of the cottages. Here we celebrate - anticipate- recharge and restore. It is our sanctuary

It is the weather and the season that dictates our schedules and Mother Nature calls the shots.

We hope that you find the same joy at The Cottages and we look forward to raising a glass of wine with you during your stay.

Private, Peaceful, Perfect!

First, this property has the oh-so-important location, location, location. It is situated off the Silverado Trail between St.Helena and Calistoga. A short, beautiful drive puts you in the heart of the shopping and dining of St. Helena. We had access to two wonderful local farmers markets and all of the amazing wineries in Napa. Your only problem will be that you may not want to leave the property. The indoor/outdoor design of the cottages and the stunning architecture and interior design make this property the perfect place to linger. The natural beauty of the property is breathtaking. We were situated in the vineyard with wonderful views in every direction. The pool is perfect and the outdoor seating areas are amazing. The cottages have everything you could want including beautiful bedding, towels and a fully stocked cooks kitchen. We all said if we could design a home from the ground up it would look like this. The owners are great and were available should we have needed anything. We can't wait to book another stay!

Great food and wine is what attracts visitors to the beautiful Napa Valley. @30 miles long from north to south and only 4 miles wide at the widest point, the Napa Valley is a slice of heaven. Our weather is great even in deep winter when you can settle in by one of the two fireplaces with your kind or a book from the well stocked shelves in the library. There is so much to enjoy once you settle in for your stay at The Cottages .

Excellent hiking and bike trails ( two bikes available for your use) are very nearby and joggers love our quiet lane lined with ancient olive trees.

Shopping in St Helena and Calistoga is literally 7 minutes away in either direction . Wonderful restaurants are everywhere from Napa to Yountville- to St. Helena to Calistoga.

Take day trips. Go to the coast and drive on Highway 1 from Stinson Beach to Fort Ross. Visit the oyster farms on Bodega Bay.

Or visit world class wineries right nearby.

Right across the valley is Castello di Amorosa, Frank Family, Hour Glass, Larkmead, Sterling, and Shramsberg. You can even walk so no designated driver needed after all that tasting.

Cooking classes are available at the CIA- Culinary Institute of America- 5 minutes away'

If you are in for some cultural stimulation other then food The Hess Collection in Napa houses an excellent collection of modern art. The ferry to San Francisco is just 45 minutes away in Vallejo. It will drop you off at the Ferry Building with its amazing assortment of fine food vendors. From there you are a short cab or cable car ride from all the attractions of 'the City by the Bay' including Fisherman's Wharf and all its museums.

Feeling lazy- and you probably will as you relax at Summer Hill Vineyards- your home in the Napa Valley

Hang out on the property, relax by the pool, toss a few horseshoes and explore the woods within the compound. Gather

fresh eggs daily from the chicken coop (they really do taste different- WAY better) Pick tomatoes warm off the vine in the vegetable garden. Sliced and topped with fresh basil and some Gleason Extra virgin olive oil - YUM !

St Helena has a terrific farmer's market every Friday morning from May 1- thru October. Calistoga's market is every Saturday morning and goes later into the fall. DO NOT MISS the smoked salmon from the fishmonger. Dine under the olive trees right by the pool and sip some Gleason cabernet and you will know that you are 'living the dream.'
