About Laurie LeTellier/Doug Jackley

Doug and I have opened up The Little Red Cabin to the VRBO/ Home Away family. We live in the Bay Area and hope you will enjoy our 1940's cabin. We have continued to keep it up yet maintain it's rustic appeal.

Laurie LeTellier/Doug Jackley purchased this cabin in 1992

Why Laurie LeTellier/Doug Jackley chose Tahoma

Doug and I love to travel but for downtime, nothing is more comfortable than sitting on the cabin deck reading a book listening to the wind blow through the pines. Add a snooze in the hammock, a game of horseshoes, a trip to the beach or a mountain doesn't get any better! Family game nights are treasured but there are DVDs available for movie night as well.

What makes this cabin unique

Quiet neighborhood, proximity to the lake, Emerald Bay, Tahoe City, great hikes, and great places to eat.

"cute and cozy" is right on the mark

  • 5 of 5

We hated to leave Tahoe, and the Red Cabin... Had a perfect stay; beds are good, kitchen well appointed as we love to cook(open windows for ventilation but remember to close/lock after!).Enough seating area for 4+ (unless your young adult covers most of them with "stuff" ;).....All beds are in one room (plus one up loft ladder if able/nimble) so must be a close fam/friends. ATT phone signal was easily enough+ to tether/run netflix on our computer, so we didn't miss wifi, didn't even try to hook up the TV. However, with CDs provided and the nearby market stocked as well, one would not miss any movie one wanted if no Netflix account! Walking to Sugar Pine Pt is a luxury, bikes would get you anywhere else you wanted except maybe some hiking trailheads. Granite lake hike is CLEAR (no snow to manage)(didn't check all the way up to Maggie's peak), lake level high (ok a little cold but we did get in 3-4 times). Bathroom is nice and large; only "beware" is the ledge for the night can get your big toe jammed - we put a pillow at the corner to avoid stubbing our toes. Since our prior visit, they have nicely added things for if you forget yours - coffee, lotion, shampoo, salt/pepper etc also. Another plus were two nice neighbors either side...

We WILL be back to enjoy... thanks so much Laurie and Doug!

The Perfect Tahoe Cabin

  • 5 of 5

It is indeed a "cute and cozy cabin". It is exactly what a lake cabin should be. It was clean and beautifully decorated. It felt like home. The neighborhood was quiet and easy to find. I highly recommend this rental.

Winter Tahoma getaway

  • 3 of 5

This adorable cabin feels like you stepped into a Scandinavian winter hide-a-way. To be clear, it’s fairly rustic, though clearly well loved. Most creature comforts are provided for, though some details are certainly not updated to modern standards- for example the windows are shuttered in winter, which means you can't enjoy the beautiful scenery outside. Pretty kid friendly, though I wouldn’t call it child-proofed. We had to be very attentive that our two year old didn't touch the gas stove. Lots to do packed into a little space and our son was very happy exploring inside and outside. The loft is really only accessible to the most agile (and slender) people - it didn't work for my 7-months pregnant belly and it was not safe for our toddler. To clarify the listing, the only heater is the gas stove and it does not have a working washing machine.

Perfect cozy yet spacious home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed in many different vacation rentals in this area of Lake Tahoe and this little home proved to be one of our all time favorites. It was perfect for our little family (two adults and one child). Cozy without being claustrophobic. The home was so easy to get and keep warm - essential after playing in the snow and drying boots etc. It was perfectly prepared for us. Clean, warm and well-stocked. Our little guy loved looking through the kids' toys and books. We hope to return as soon as we can! Thank you :)

Great cabin

  • 4 of 5

Really 4.5 stars. This is a great cabin for 2 people or a small family. It has everything you need (look in a cabinet for the toaster), the bed is comfortable, and the living area is comfortable and well-lit for reading and playing games. Be aware that it takes a while for the stove to warm up the cabin, but once it has warmed up all is fine. This cabin is perfect for access to the most beautiful part of Lake Tahoe and the three gorgeous state parks on the west side of the Lake.

Exactly what a cabin should be

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a lovely weekend at Tahoe in this cabin. It is just the right size for a getaway - cozy without being claustrophobic - and is filled with charming details, like the ladder to the sleeping loft and the wood paneling on the ceiling. The location is perfect - walking distance to West Shore Pizza, Tahoma Market, and Sugar Pine Point SP. Loved it!
