Gayle's Haven is a 1st floor, 1200 sqft, 1 bed, 1 bath, situated on a picture-perfect-white-sand beach with amazing views of sea and sunsets from your kitchen, bedroom & private veranda. It is located on one of the prettiest beaches on St. Croix, minutes from downtown Frederiksted. The condo is well appointed with cable and wifi, beach towels, beach chairs and cooler; and the fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook, prepare frozen concoctions and dine at home. Our rates and fees include a thorough and professional pre-cleaning as well as complimentary "arrival service". Someone will meet you at the airport, help transport luggage, and lead you to your lodging. Once there, they'll orient you with the grounds and condo.


A rental car is strongly recommended for getting around the island, but it is possible to get around downtown Frederiksted with a bike rental from Freedom City Cycles.

*For car rentals we suggest Centerline, Avis, Hertz or Budget (they conveniently have airport pickup locations). *Avis often has great coupons online and discounts for USAA members, ADP Payroll participants and Costco Members. *Taxi service is available but can be difficult to obtain, especially at night.

I am from St. Croix (a Crucian) and I live in Colorado full time. We bought this little piece of St. Croix for my mother, who sadly passed away in 2015. Gayle loved her retreat at Harbour Beach Village, and we believe you will too. We hope our guests will relax, reconnect and enjoy our family haven for a little while.

Much needed getaway

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Gayle's Haven. Upon arrival we were greeted by Mark and his wife who showed us the entire property and the condo. They walked us through everything we should have known about the property and surrounding area. The condo was extremely spacious with open air. We were able to enjoy the breeze along with the sound of the ocean without any worry of bugs. The veranda had screen windows but we were able to open them during the day and at night for even more air flow. Waking up to the view of the ocean and watching the sunset at night was our favorite. The condo is on the West side of the island so we were able to watch the sun melt into the endless sea almost every night. The beach is rocky due to the most recent hurricane but is good for snorkeling. If you want a sandier beach I would suggest going to the one at the end of the road. If you want a beach with a bar you can always go to Rainbow beach that is a 10 minute car ride from the condo. We also fell in love with the dogs that live on the property. We walked and brought them for a swim several days during our stay. The property also has a lovely pool and an awesome hammock that is great for watching the sunset from. All of the condo owners we met during our stay were very pleasant and open to suggesting things to do while visiting the island. We enjoyed our stay so much that we didn't want to leave! :)

Wish I could have stayed a month

If the owner would consider selling this condo, I'd consider buying it. I love it here. While the western part of St Croix was hit hard by Hurricane Maria, the condo and ocean are just as beautiful and wonderful as ever. I long to hear again the sound of the surf and the breezes that flow through the condo. The condo is light and airy with a very comfortable bed, equally comfortable seating, and a bright kitchen if you want to cook. TV had not been restored as of our visit, but who cares when you are in such a great place. Frederiksted is an easy mile walk from the condo if you want to park your car and leave it. Frederiksted restaurants are serving excellent breakfasts and lunches along with fantastic ocean views. You may need to travel further on to Christiansted to have a larger choice of dinner restaurants since many of the restaurants in Frederiksted did not survive the storm. We would highly recommend Savant's in Christiansted (reservations recommended). We are confident that more Frederiksted restaurants will reopen as the island recovers from Maria.

Perfect for us!

Gayle’s Haven is a stunning beachfront condo that is beautifully decorated and perfect if you prefer to cook your own meals. We used the pool almost every day and drifted off to sleep every night to the waves crashing onto the beach.

Hurricane Maria Damaged HBV and we were not able to stay

Unfortunately, we were not able to stay at the condo due to hurricane Maria. The condo complex HBV took heavy damage from Maria which made it uninhabitable. It is our understanding that Gayle's Haven was not too damaged.

We hope that JoAnn will be able to get it back to where it was before the storm. We love St. Croix and pray that they have a quick recovery. we hope to stay there once St. Croix and the condo are enjoyable to visit. It is not fair to give a real rating but we hope to get a refund so we can stay when it all restored and the island is back to normal?

We love St. Croix and would recommend this condo and the owners are good to work with.

Lovely, Quiet Beachside Location

This is a roomy, airy condo meticulously kept and filled with light. It is located on the beach road south of Fredericksted a short walk or jog from Sandy Point NWR. There is an excellent beachfront restaurant a short walk north if you don't feel like cooking. There is exposed bedrock along the beach; the hard bottom provides good snorkeling close to shore. There is excellent snorkeling a mile north in protected water along the Fredericksted Pier. The beaches to the north and south of the property are public but lighty used -- on the weekends we saw only a few families there. The other condos seem to be vacation retreats; the couples you meet around the pool are friendly and courteous.

Fredericksted is small and many of the historic colonial buildings are vacant. The huge pier is for cruise ships; we were told the town fills up when one of them puts in. There are a few good restaurants and a number of lively bars with a very diverse crowd. Danes outnumber Americans among the tourists.What Fredericksted does not have is runaway commercial development -- you will have to go the Christiansted for cheap souvenirs or fast food. There are two dive shops; the one we visited was very well equipped and the staff very helpful.

Christiansted is a more typical resort town and seems to be a party spot. There is more contrast between rich and poor there, and it was hard to park when we took a guided tour of Buck Island Reef. If you want to take guided tours there, I recommend careful research and booking in advance.

All in all, we found the condo quieter, more private, and more economical than a luxury resort with the same access to our outdoor pursuits.

Highlands Ranch, CO

A wonderful relaxing beachfront week of enjoyment

We really enjoyed our time at Harbour Beach. Our stay in Frederiksted was the second week of our Virgin Islands trip that followed an activity-filled week visiting St. Thomas and St. John. This relaxing spot on the quiet west end of St. Croix where we could fall asleep and awake to the sound of waves crashing on the beach was exactly what we were looking for. Fortunately, the weather couldn’t have been better as well. Your condo was just right. It had all the devices needed and was clean, comfortable and well-stocked with everything a vacation place should have. Sitting around the gallery table felt like staying at a friend’s home. We used the pool and barbeque and enjoyed meeting some of the neighbors out in the gazebo. We spent hours snorkeling directly off the beach, especially after locating the offshore sponge garden and we loved being so close to Sandy Point. We drove to several of the north shore beaches and historical sites but the Big Beard sailing trip to Buck Island had to be the high point of the week.

Many others describe the unit very well so I won’t repeat that but instead concentrate on this. We really appreciate the effort you put into ensuring your guests have a wonderful time. The initial selection and booking process on VRBO was accurate and simple. Using your detailed GaylesHaven web pages to research St Croix was a great help and it is clear you spend a lot of time on that. We also liked the consistently great text communication with you while we were there. Combined with your friendly onsite caretaker and neighbors (making recommendations to places like Villa Morales) this was more than any renter could ask.

All said, thank you soy much for being a big part of this fantastic vacation by sharing Gayle’s Place with us. If we’re not back in St Croix for a while maybe we can run into each other sometime in Colorado.
