Overview

About the property

Enjoy peace and tranquility while nestled in the casita's charming garden!

$925/month Casita. Main house (VRBO#88178) $1997/month

PLEASE READ 'TRAVELER REVIEWS' as that will give you a good idea of what other guests have felt about both the casita as well as the main house and their visit in general. They say far more than I ever could! Also check reviews at VRBO #88178 which is for the Main House as many guests have rented both places together.

*Check in-time is 2:00 PM and check-out time is 11AM but, luggage can be left in covered sala outdoor living area if you arrive early or are leaving late.

The property is situated in Centro and it takes between 10- 15 min. to walk down hill to the heart of town. All of my guests have enjoyed the walk down as it's fascinating to meander on the many and different, small, winding streets while appreciating the flowers cascading from terraces and balconies. Many guests also look forward to the aerobic exercise coming home! However, it’s easy to catch a $2.50 taxi for a 5 minute ride in either direction.

Experience luxury, privacy and quietude in one of the most beautiful gardens in San Miguel and relax after a busy day in the hustle and bustle of town. Both the casita and the main house are within a walled and secure complex and there is a good deal of separation between the two homes guaranteeing privacy.

The casita is charming! It has an open floor plan which echoes the main house in design and décor. Warm teracotta walls and polished tile floors coupled with a most comfortable queen-size bed with pillow-top mattress, mini-kitchen, a beautifully tiled bath with shower, living area, dining nook, and a lovely view of the fountain and year around flowering garden. There is a wonderful , very large roof-top garden with a table with umbrella for morning coffee or watching the sunset in the evenings. This terrace is solely for the casita guest's use. There is high speed wireless internet and most of my guests have downloaded Skype and can sit outside while listening to the fountain, catching up on emails and having chats with friends at home.

Cable television is available in both homes and there are many movies with Spanish sub-titles (a great way to practice Spanish!) as well as American news stations, etc.

From both homes one enjoys the antique cantara stone fountain, lush lawn, flowering garden and vine covered high walls which surround the property. Each has its own front porch which faces the garden.

The wonderful housekeeper and gardener live right across the street and keep an eagle's eye on the property. She cleans once a week for the casita and for a small, additional fee she would do your personal laundry when you wish. Her husband is a talented gardener who treats the garden as his own.

There is off-street parking for one large vehicle behind the walls for you or for your friends and additional space in front of the house.

*Please there is no smoking inside either home.

*I also request that perfume not be applied inside the home since many guests are sensitive to even the nicest of scents which can linger.

It's a lush, fragrant year round retreat.

About Sabrina O'Jack

I would like to share a bit about myself in relationship to my home. I had been a frequent visitor to San Miguel and each time I returned, I felt more and more drawn to the town and the people. Finally, I decided to rent for a year and decide if I wanted to make a move and experience a dramatic change of life style.

Like you, I found this property on VRBO and I rented it for a year, but since it was sight unseen, I had great trepidation as I approached the entrance. However, once I unlocked the door I knew that the only way I would ever move from this house was being carried out feet first!!!! Thankfully, the former owners decided to sell and I've been happy there ever since. Normally, I rent out the casita while I live in the main house, but now and then I'm required to return to my other beautiful town of Carmel, California and then I rent out my main house as well.

I never like my home to be vacant because I think it is such a gracious and beautiful spot that I want to share it with others. If it's not rented, I invite my close friends as my guests for a couple weeks vacation.

I have found that over the years, I have met the most wonderful guests and many of them have become dear friends. I consider myself a very fortunate lady for having taken the risk and made the move to San Miguel de Allende! It's been an ongoing adventure! I hope you will also be a guest and enjoy it as I have.

Why Sabrina O'Jack chose La Palmita

Years ago most visitors loved to be in the heart of town to feel the pulse of San Miguel. I initially thought my house was slightly out of the way. However, now I am thrilled to be right where I am so I can enjoy the town, which is just a walk away and yet, return and be away from the many tourists who now visit the city. I feel my property has the best of both worlds!

Absolutely a little garden of Eden.

  • 5 of 5

Sabrina was a perfect host. The casita was well equipped and spotless. Once one steps in from the street and closes the gate you are in a peaceful flowered oasis. With the fountain gurgling and birds chirping it just doesn’t get any better than this.

Owner's Response: Hola Amigos! I never thought of my place as the Garden of Eden, but it really is! It's such a peaceful retreat away from the city sounds and all the energy. You both were very peaceful people and I so enjoyed getting to know you though. I wish only that we had at least gone together to that fun seafood place down the street ... with the swinging doors! You had some great adventures in San Miguel and you did it all within a month and that is really amazing thinking of the many places you went and all you saw! Please return, Sabrina

Owner's Response: Thank you Sam and Rebecca for your lovely words. I know you are getting ready to leave and I will miss your happy presence! But, at least I know you'll be back next year so that's something to look forward to. I'll think about that Martha Vineyard house exchange idea! Safe travels home, Sabrina

Lovely small casita on hill above San Miguel de Allende

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Sabrina's charming little casita. It is very well equipped and looks out on a beautiful garden. It is about a 15-20 walk from the main plaza and it's steep, but we enjoyed the walk and it's easy and inexpensive to grab a cab if you'd rather avoid a very steep hill. Sabrina couldn't have been more accommodating and easy to work with. The casita was clean, lovely, and inviting!

Owner's Response: I'm happy you had a good experience in the casita and only wish we had been able to meet personally. Still, emailing kept us well connected. Thank you for such a nice review and I hope, should you return that you would also return to the casita. Gracias, Sabrina

Beautiful, peaceful garden!!

  • 5 of 5

I’ve stayed in the casita three times and every time, my spirit is renewed by the lovely indoor environment and wonderful outdoor areas to sit in the sun or shade. Sabrina is a wonderful hostess, interested in providing a comfortable stay and additional information about San Miguel! Enjoy!

Owner's Response: Gracias Margie ... you know how much I enjoy having you in the casita and I hope this is an annual event! I don't think anyone has enjoyed the garden as much as you ... it amused me watching you move from spot to spot getting the best sun. I am sure that by now, you know much more about San Miguel than I do since you are an explorer. Hasta el proximo ano?? Sabrina
