This newly built suite features an open plan kitchen, dining room and living room, a bright and spacious bedroom with lots of storage and a beautiful bathroom with heated tile floors and a large walk-in shower.

The house is on a quiet, tree-lined street but is only a few minutes walk to shopping, restaurants and express public transportation. A short distance from the house are the University and its gardens and museums, a large forested park full of trails, many beaches, and a variety of recreational activities including public tennis courts and a golf course

About Geoff Thiele

My wife and I were born and raised in Vancouver but have studied, lived and worked in many different cities and countries and continue to travel locally and abroad whenever we can.

We both work full-time as lawyers and due to our demanding schedules can only afford the time to manage longer term rentals

Why Geoff Thiele chose West Side

In our opinion, West Point Grey is the best neighhourhood in the City. It is close to the beach, the forest, and the University and there is an express bus that stops close to our home and it connects with the metro to downtown and the airport. There is shopping and good restaurants a few minutes walk from the house

What makes this apartment unique

We always liked older houses, particularly ones with a large front porch. We bought the house in 2004 and over the next 10 years renovated almost all of the property, including in the gardens. In 2014 we completed the ground floor suite and finished it to the same high standards as the rest of the house.

Fabulous apartment in West Point Grey!

Geoff and Irene's recently renovated ground-level apartment was an ideal base for our week of vacationing in the Vancouver area. In general we love staying in quiet residential neighborhoods rather than downtown, and this fit the bill perfectly. The private suite is comfy, spacious and well-appointed; the neighborhood is quiet and lovely; and getting around without a car was a breeze thanks to the nearby bus stop on 10th and frequent express buses, as other reviewers have noted.

From check-in to check-out, everything went smoothly: our communications with Geoff were clear and he was very responsive; check-in was easy; and Irene & Geoff offered helpful orienting advice and tips about the area (free nights at museums, etc.) It was clear they cared about us having a good stay and Geoff went out of his way to help arrange an extra bicycle for us. We also enjoyed our friendly, easygoing chats on their porch and, as visitors, appreciated the chance to learn a bit about living in Vancouver from life-long residents.

Thank you Geoff and Irene for being such welcoming and caring hosts and letting us stay in your lovely apartment!

Beautiful Apartment

I was looking for a furnished apartment to stay in while working for 5 weeks at a local hospital. I needed a quiet place that I could study and sleep. Geoff and Irene were most welcoming. I had absolutely everything I needed. It was conveniently located near a major transit route, safeway, multiple coffee shops, and the spanish banks which was the HIGHLIGHT of coming home after a long day.

I will most definitely try to stay there again the next time I travel to Vancouver.

Great location !!

I have had a great time staying in this suite for almost 8 months now. I am studying at UBC this year and I was so lucky to be able to rent this suite in West Point Grey. The location is great, especially if you are going to the UBC campus. The buses leave frequently to campus and the other way towards Vancouver downtown just two blocks away. The beach is only a short walk down.

The bedroom is a good size, the bed is huge and there are lots of room in the closet. The bathroom is great with a big shower. The open kitchen and livingroom setup works great. There are a lot of cupboard space in the kitchen. Even though it is a basement suite it has big windows bringing a lot of light in.

Geoff and Irene are great hosts and have been so helpful all year.

Lovely Vancouver location - deluxe private suite

I was delighted to stay in this lovely suite for 3 weeks in late May/early June 2014 - and was the first tenant as it had just been finished. It is large and spacious, with a big bedroom, beautiful bathroom with a large shower, well-appointed kitchen with a great gas stove and dishwasher, and a washer dryer combo as well. The dining/living room space is open and again, spacious. It is what is called in Vancouver a ‘garden suite’, which means it is located in the very lowest level of the house. Because they raised the foundation of the house a few years ago, the ceilings are in places 8 feet high. And because there are several windows and a full-length glass door, as well as a great lighting system, the suite is bright and welcoming.

One of the best things about the apartment is the location. The area is a lovely residential neighbourhood with a mix of older and newer established homes and gardens. If you like walking, it’s a great place to do so. And it’s only two blocks from shopping - everything you would need, really, including two fantastic greengrocer shops with a wide selection of fresh and reasonably priced fruits and vegetables. Along 10th the bus system is excellent as they run every 4 - 6 minutes. Arrival to the UBC campus takes less than 10 minutes and it is easy as well to get to other areas of the city.

Geoff and Irene are very friendly and helpful hosts. They love their city and are happy to share all sorts of information and ideas, while never being imposing in any way. They travel a great deal themselves and so are sensitive to travellers needs. With a separate entrance, the suite offered privacy, quiet and independence. I had a wonderful experience staying here and highly recommend it!
