This charming, centrally located canyon home underwent a major renovation in mid-2014 complete with new appliances. Located in the eclectic neighborhood of Hillcrest, the house is walking distance to shopping, a vibrant nightlife and a plethora of restaurants, and is just minutes by car to all of San Diego’s main attractions. Staying here is a great alternative to hotels and noisy beach condos. You’ll feel like one of the residents in this quiet neighborhood as you relax on the patio, BBQ your dinner or stroll the streets of this safe and friendly neighborhood.

Our home is two-stories with a bedroom, full bathroom, kitchen, living and dining room on the main level and a spiral staircase leading downstairs to two bedrooms, bathroom and laundry. Glass doors from the dining room lead to the private patio. Relax, explore and enjoy all beautiful San Diego has to offer.

***Children will need approval. The home is not ideal for very young due to the steel spiral staircase that leads downstairs.

I'm a custom, residential architect who moved to San Diego from the East Coast. I love it here. Why Todd chose Hillcrest

This property is close to everything, yet is in a quiet and friendly neighborhood. A pedestrian bridge connects this part of Hillcrest to the bustling area with every type of shop, restaurant and bar you can imagine. On weekends, you can even stroll over to one of the best farmer's markets in the city. Hop in your car, and within minutes you're at any number of San Diego's major attractions.

Many people come to San Diego and want to be at the beach, but it is a different vibe there and many regret the decision. 'It's a nice place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there,' is a good way to describe it. I encourage you to venture away from the beach to a charming neighborhood where you can safely enjoy your vacation.

What makes this house unique

It's a great place to relax with all the comforts of home while exploring our beautiful city. You'll feel like you live here, and you'll want to.

Please note that due to the iron spiral staircase, the home is not ideal for small children, particularly toddlers. The staircase starts on the first floor and goes downstairs. At this time, there is not gate to prevent a child from using the stairs.

Notes:
While this home does not have A/C, there are only a few short weeks in the summer when it is typically needed (search for average temperatures during your stay and you'll see what we mean). San Diego's climate is semi-arid with typically low humidity so it doesn't feel as hot as it can in other parts of the country with higher humidity. That said, there are ceiling fans and portable fans for you to use. With this home being on a canyon, it also receives nice ocean breezes.

Wonderful 2nd stay at fantastic home

We enjoyed this home and its location so much last year that we booked it again for an annual trip this year.

The manager and owner are fantastic and extremely responsive.

The addition of an incredible deck with a great view made an already wonderful home even better!

Our favorite vrbo in San Diego

We’ve visited San Diego more than 20 Times, and have always enjoyed our homes and our hosts. Some things we love most about this home:

1. Quiet, lovely neighborhood. Dead end street with plenty of off street parking

2. Lovely walkable route to all sorts of nightlife. We have immediate car access to all good things - rt 163 right through Balboa Park, easy access to interstate 5, about 10-15 min from the airport -

So even though there’s easy car access to busy streets, the walking route to grocery stores, restaurants and nightlife is through a very quiet neighborhood with a walking bridge across the only busy street you pass

3. The house itself has good energy, is bright and clean with plenty of space. Newly remodeled, great kitchen, two full bathrooms, 3 bedrooms. Washer and dryer

4. The hosts are completely accessible and helpful.

Just perfect in Hillcrest

We are a family of four. The house is in a quiet, safe neighborhood walking distance to Trader Joe’s, Ralph’s, Starbucks, and many restaurants. We were met by the host at check in who showed us around the house, which is immaculately clean. Everything is very comfortable and cozy. There are two large porches in the back for relaxing outside and enjoying the San Diego weather. You are only minutes to the 163, the 5, etc. The check out process is simple. Communication with the owners is easy. We would gladly stay here again. Thanks for the hospitality!

Small yet lovely

This is a great little place. It was fine for 4 adults, but 6 adults would be a little small even with a 3 bedroom. A great size for a family. We had our dog and there is no fenced yard so we had to get the dog out regularly (not a problem for us since the dog goes with us most places). The furnishings were very nice, kitchen and bathrooms modern, lovely patios. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, but a grocery store is within walking distance. Hillcrest is near and within walking too, so lots of good restaurants near by. Thanks Todd and Randy! We had a great time.

We loved our stay!!

The property was so clean and inviting! The amenities were perfect and the property manager (Randy) was so professional and warm. It made our visit to San Diego really wonderful! We also really enjoyed being able to walk to the shops and restaurants in the Hillcrest neighborhood. Thank you so much!
