About this property

A little bit o' country, yet close to town, with spectacular mountain views!

Designed to bring you relaxation and comfort, this is a sweet, immaculate, one bedroom, with full kitchen and breathtaking 360 degree mountain views. Licensed by State of Montana and inspected and licensed by the Gallatin County Health Department.
AIR CONDITIONED for summer when necessary, and cozy HEAT for winter! Ten minutes south of downtown Bozeman in beautiful Hyalite Meadows, near the mouth of Hyalite Canyon and recreation area…open year round to hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, and in winter, ice climbing. I can provide indoor space for bikes or skis while you stay.
Ideal for the vacationers who are looking for peace and tranquility in a pastoral setting - you don’t have to go far to see horses, cows, sheep and even a nearby alpaca farm!
Make yourselves at home in this luxury apartment with fully equipped kitchen – refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and dishwasher. Pots, pans, and stoneware pottery dishes are here for you to use.
Coffee pot and electric tea kettle with tea and coffee for your enjoyment!
The apartment is equipped with WI-FI, Samsung LED TV, and ROKU with HULU. There is a twin hide-a-bed in the living room available as well. Request sheets upon arrival for hide a bed.
From the large picture window in the bedroom (queen bed) soak in the ever fascinating views of the Spanish Peaks. Big Sky ski area is just 50 miles south.
Enjoy your morning coffee on the deck (when it's warm outside) with a view toward the Bridger Mountains. Bridger Bowl downhill ski area and Cross Cut cross country Park are just 45 minutes away.
Roads are plowed often in the winter, as well as snow cleared from my driveway. But AWD or 4WD vehicle with good tires is necessary for winter driving in MT! Winter guests must be willing to walk through some snow, brush snow off their vehicle, and possibly shovel a bit of snow at times!
Summertime perennial flower gardens on this 2 acre property for your enjoyment. Paved roads in safe neighborhood yours for a lovely walk! Awe inspiring sunrises and sunsets, dramatic storms, and 'big' watercolor skies will contribute to making your stay at this panoramic viewpoint memorable. I know you’ll want to come back!
Downtown Bozeman, MSU, or 'the mall' are a short scenic drive from here. Bozeman has a plethora of great restaurants in all price ranges. Downtown Bozeman, with many historic old brick buildings is a fun place to wander.
No-smoking/no vaping apartment, and sorry, no pets.*
Please read my reviews...people who have stayed here have been very happy with Indian Paintbrush Inn!
* There are excellent pet boarding facilities if you travel with a pet, but they require advance reservations.

The perfect place to stay.
We had stayed in hotels for 6 nights prior to arriving. The apartment was so relaxing, inspiring and the host was wonderful. The apartment was just as described, perfect for the two of us. It had everything we needed. We came to explore this area of Montana, the apartment was a great coming home place after exploring. The washer and dryer were a great addition. The view from the balcony and windows were inspiring, as were the wonderful books for reading. I could write a book about how wonderful the host is, but I'll just say that she can answer any questions we had and her kindness is above and beyond what is expected. We arrived as strangers and left as friends. I am truly grateful to Carol.

Well appointed
This is a lovely unit above a garage but separated from the main house. It was incredibly clean and comfortable, and well-appointed with nearly everything we needed for a lovely quiet stay. We brought our own food and cooked in the kitchen. The pull out twin size sofa bed was comfortable enough with a memory foam topper added to it. The master bedroom mattress was firm. There is a shower but no bathtub. We highly recommend the place. The Host was available when we needed her, but not intrusive. The location is rural, and very close to Hyalite Canyon.

Fabulous!
We came up for MSU Parents Weekend. Our host stayed in communication with us, greeted us with a key and a quick tour of our “home” for the long weekend. We will definitely stay with Carol again.

About the host

Host profile image
We moved to Bozeman in 1999 from Fairbanks, Alaska. I am a graduate of Seattle Pacific University with a degree in art.
Though I have lived at this home since 1999, the guest house/apt was added in 2014, and is right next to my home. You will have privacy but also know that I will be here if you have questions.
I grew up in Northwest Washington State and taught art at Enumclaw High School and at Green River Community College. Later I moved north with my husband to Fairbanks where our three children were born (my son and his family live here too!).
I love life in SW Montana! Bozeman has grown so much since we moved here...changing fast, but still has some of the charm of a small town.
I enjoy walking with my dog, teaching handbuilt pottery classes, playing pickleball, as well as gardening in the summer and shoveling snow in the winter! I'm also active in my church, Grace Bible Church.
People are friendly and the pace of life here is sweet. I know you'll like it!

Why they chose this property

When deciding to leave Alaska and find a new 'home' I chose Bozeman because of its size, its beautiful scenery, and the fact that there is a university here. Bozeman has changed, and is growing...all the more reason to love this "little bit o' country" I have here!
I enjoy having space around my home...rooms with views! Space to breathe the great mountain air! There is nothing to obstruct the beautiful views...and yet this property is still close to town. The paved roads around this property and VRBO are perfect and safe for a relaxing walk or energizing jog! Hyalite Recreation Area is right up the road!

What makes this property unique

When I first saw this big country home, I fell in love with it! Its farmhouse look with a big front porch reminded me of the home I grew up in out in coastal Washington State. I've added a large memorial perennial garden which I look forward to every summer as it emerges from a blanket of snow! The vacation rental is located in the building right next to my home with a private entrance.
