Experience how it feels to live in a sustainable energy home.

Live completely off the grid, with 100% Solar and Wind Power. Our home has water on three sides with panoramic views all the way around.

Surround yourself by nature, with more than three miles from your nearest neighbor.

Wade out onto the expansive peaceful tidal flats to your hearts content.

Explore in your kayak or canoe. Curly Creek on the other side of the Bay winds through the Sugar Plum Cays where you will surprise bone fish, barracuda, snapper and more, as you glide over the calm waters of the flats.

Go bone fishing just outside your own front door! Truly, some of the best flats for bone fishing on Andros, in the Bahamas, and for that matter anywhere in the world.

Go shelling! Walk for miles and miles when the tide is low looking for shells in less than ankle deep water. There are some special spots where you are sure to find beautiful sunrise talons and sand dollars.

Enjoy unforgettable sunsets that unfold all around you.

Experience the magic of walking on the sand flats in the moon light.

Set your own pace and wander where your curiosity leads you. At the house you have 4 kayaks, 1 canoe, 2 windsurfers with different size sails, and 1 small sailboat, plus life jackets. Snorkeling gear for 4, sand castle building stuff, croquet, Petanque (bocce). Also two bicycles.

Set up guided fishing trips, either bone fishing, reef fishing or deep sea fishing with excellent local guides.

Snorkel or SCUBA in The Tongue of the Ocean, on the World’s third largest barrier reef, with a 6000 foot Wall just a mile offshore. One of the foremost fully equipped dive resorts, Small Hope Bay Lodge is just a few miles away.

Explore the inland fresh water Blue Holes. Andros has the largest concentration of Blue Holes in the World. They are natural swimming pools, perfectly round holes filled with cool fresh water surrounded by pine forest or hard wood forest.

Go Bird Watching! A constant delight with many different species. Some of the birds are considered protected and migrate from afar to nest here in peace and tranquility. Others can only be found here.

Star gaze! A paradise, far from any light pollution, the sky is open from horizon to horizon.

Visit the home of the hand dyed fabric "Androsia". You can visit the factory and see them wax print and hand dye the beautiful cottons and even try one yourself. The factory outlet store is another of the treasures of Andros.

About Scot Kurth

Built by owner Scot Kurth for my family. We enjoyed the privacy, seclusion and tranquility for 15 years. The only reason that we have moved is for school for our two boys. It is, and will always be Home.

Scot Kurth purchased this house in 1999

Why Scot Kurth chose North Andros

We choose to build here because I grew up on Andros since 1965 and wanted to share it's Natural Environment and beauty with my family. It is a wonderful place to grow up or visit, surrounded by nature and the ocean. With the renewable energy system, I wanted to show what sustainability looks like and how well it works.

What makes this house unique

The tranquility is unsurpassed. You wake in the morning to the sound of the Ocean lapping at the shore and to the birds chirping. You can enjoy knowing that the house operates on a zero carbon footprint.

Andros paradise in unique, comfortable setting

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I travelled with some friends to Scot’s Bonefish Bay home for four nights in April 2018. We had high expectations based upon Scot’s photos, customer reviews, Google maps and all of our Internet research. During our stay, we found the experience even better than expected! We found Scot’s VRBO listing accurate and perhaps understated, and he provided wonderful help and customer service from booking through post-trip follow-up.

Since we like nature, water sports, fishing, walkable flats and self-sustaining, off the grid experiences, Bonefish Bay was for us. We enjoyed the experience from the moment we drove down the long driveway, opened the numerous large sliding doors and saw the beautify views. In addition to the home’s innovative and interesting engineering and architecture, the house is comfortable and welcoming.

The interior space is well designed and spacious. The beautiful wood beams and high ceilings reinforce the Caribbean experience. Each bedroom seems to open to a large screened porch. The house had a constant cooling breeze on warm days. The water pressure, hot water, electricity and house functionality were excellent and no different than any beach house on the grid.

The quality and quantity of kayaks and paddles, snorkeling equipment and bikes were very good. Scot and his family have fully furnished the house with lots of little things that made the visit more enjoyable. It felt like we were staying in our own home.

The location is remote which we like -- nature in every direction, not another house or building for miles, and from the house we saw only two other people (at a distance) over the course of four days. The views of the changing tides are beautiful. The beach and grounds were clean and comfortable. We were able to walk for miles through the bay in less than knee deep water. For DIY flats fisherman, you might not find a better place to stay and fish.

From the airport staff, rental car, grocery store clerks, guides and restaurant staff, the locals in Andros Town / Fresh Creek were helpful and kind. And everyone in town seems to know and respect Scot! We enjoyed each of the three different local restaurants we visited.

A helpful hint: When Scot emails you and suggests bringing a few provisions with you, take his advice. After seeing the coffee options in the grocery stores (Maxwell House or Folgers), my wife said the one thing she would have added to her suitcase that she did not bring was coffee!

"Perfect" is not big enough a word for this place..

  • 5 of 5

We were five guys on a week-long bonefishing trip who had the good luck to stay here. Having waded flats on other Bahamas islands, Belize, Turks and Caicos and the South Pacific, the flats right off the beach here are some of the finest I've ever seen.

Then there's the house - an engineering marvel of sustainable living coupled with a well-planned and aesthetic layout. The kitchen is fabulous, the bedrooms are all roomy and comfortable, the views are off the charts. Cocktail hour on the upper deck overlooking the flats let us sight bonefish from the comfort of a padded deck chair.

The locals were all friendly, helpful and helped make this a great trip.

We'll be back for sure!

Beautiful and quiet

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four enjoyed our stay so much! The house is beautiful and has absolutely everything we needed. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you! The views are spectacular and the screened in porches make it so easy to bring the wonderful sea air in all day. We had a couple of days with really high winds, so even when we couldn't be out on the water the porches were in full use! It was so great to have the beach just steps from the door. We enjoyed kayaking right around the area, finding all kinds of wildlife to observe, including some spectacular sea stars. Shell hunting at low tide was terrific as well; we found so many sand dollars. We had fun exploring the island, especially the blue hole! Scot - thanks for being so communicative and easy to work with and for sharing your house with us. The people in Fresh Creek were welcoming and gracious. Would recommend this house to anyone looking for a very quiet retreat with lots of options for kayaking, hiking, and fishing.

House was spacious and perfect for big group/family. 4 bedrooms and baths. Very remote so access to town/restaurants took 20-30 minutes. Bonefish flats great when tide is right.

A perfect 5-Night Stay at Bonefish Bay...

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just returned from a 5 night stay at Bonefish bay. Wow, what a place! We had a fantastic time and can’t wait to return for a longer stay. The owner was a pleasure to work with and very helpful in every way. The location and setting of this rental is stunning. It’s located on a narrow peninsula that juts out into the surrounding flats. With no neighbors for miles, it feels as if you are on a desert island, but with a beautiful house. The beach is very nice and you can walk for miles on the sandbars at low tide. My 5 yo daughter loved playing in the shallow water and looking for shells. There are many keys to the east of the house that are great for exploring by kayak, and the fishing opportunities are great as well.

The House is very comfortable and easy to settle into. It’s huge actually, and it’s very well equipped. There’s very little the owners haven’t thought of. Even though the rental is remote, both wireless and cell service are great. The fact that the house is off the grid and powered by wind and solar is just plain cool. We had zero issues with power supply.

Aside from relaxing and exploring around the house, we also visited a nearby beach, a blue hole, and the local batik factory. We visited the town of Fresh Creek a few times to pick up groceries and enjoyed a couple meals there as well. There are plenty of things to do in the area.

If you are looking for a very private getaway to do a fishing, exploring, shelling or just relaxing, this is your place. I highly recommend!

Paradise found on Andros

  • 5 of 5

We are just back from 10 amazing days at Scotties place on Andros. Our family (16,19,2yr old kids) my wife and I had by far the best vacation we have had to date. With miles of private beach and not seeing another person unless heading to town for groceries made this a perfect experience. Our daily routine consisted of kayaking to the reefs, diving for conch, lobster and fish. Fly and cast fishing for bonefish (which are everywhere) - to just chilling on the whitesand beach. The kitchen is perfect for the inner chef and the gas grill added to that. Everything you need is onsite and town is just a short 10min drive. When I had to get online that was no problem, there is a great wifi signal and connection here. To top all of this off Scottie is an amazing host, available pretty much 24/7 and quick to reply. Words really cannot describe the feeling when you drive down the LONG private drive and round the corner to house, sand and crystal blue water. This is a perfect spot for family or friends - the house is huge and can easily sleep 8+ adults.
