Very cool home
Ruth was amazing, great communication and responsiveness to some circumstances beyond her control. Beds super comfortable, location in woods is pretty, eclectic home with repurposed items. Very cool.

The LA home in Litchfield County
What an open, hospitable space; interesting as a museum but comfortable for ages 2-70. Everything you can possibly think of is there - from soda stream to dog crate, to crib, swing, beautiful clean pool and deck, TVs, projector, grill, fire pit and more. The setting is quiet and stunning.

Filthy Unsanitary House
The house not was not cleaned prior to our arrival. The kitchen was filthy. There were a lot of mouse droppings in the kichen - a pile. There were dead insects and grease above the stove - hanging over the stove from the fan above. The silverware and pots and pans were literally thrown in to the drawers and the drawers as well as contents were filthy. The Keurig did not work. I heard at night what sounded like animals running in the ceiling. There was a live mouse in the kitchen. There were spider webs all over the windows and the ceiling. The refrigerator and freezer were not cold enough. There were ants in the refrigerator when I arrived. I had to throw out the contents of the freezer because they defrosted. The pool gate would not shut. You couldn't reach the hose handle because it was deep in the bushes. The balcony with the grill was not as pictured. It is actually green all over the cement and there was a food container covered in mold on it and the grill was also filthy. Towels were old and had holes. You also have to take to gargage to the dump which is only open on certain days. I sent this information with pictures/videos to Vrbo. The host sent a handyman and cleaners who fixed some of the issues but she stopped responding to my emails and many issues were never addressed.

I am a film producer with 5 grandchildren for whom I built this house. I am anticipating being in London & Paris for work all of next year and therefore decided to put the house up for rent. Ideally, I would prefer a year-long renter or a month-long renter.

Why they chose this property

It was a difficult decision to put my house and our things on the rental market, but I'd rather have it used and there's very little that's breakable.

What makes this property unique

this is a very special house in that I built for my 5 grandchildren or rather when I was anticipating grandchildren. It has been enjoyed by all them as they can play, swim, hike, ski, garden, play organized sports, barbecue, roast s'mores around a campfire, sleep under the stars, and roughhouse with the DOG who is far enough from the road to never be on leash and protects the many flowers and vegetables from deer. Our neighbor on route 7 (although our driveway is 1/4 mile long and far from the road) is the Housatonic Valley, which protects the region Association which protects
