Hard-wood floors and comfortable furnishings. The kitchen has all the basic necessary amenities including a gas stove and oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, Keurig coffee maker, tea pot, toaster, pots and pans, cooking utensils, dishes and flatware. Living room opens to southern exposure dining room and sun-porch - perfect for enjoying your cup of coffee to start the day.

The master bedroom has a queen size bedroom set including linens, a roomy closet, and dresser. The second bedroom has a twin bed (including linens), a desk and dresser. There is a pull out couch in the living room should you want to accommodate two more people/children.

Other amenities: cable TV and convenient parking in front of the property (as well as driveway parking available).

Although no car is needed as you are only three blocks to Braddock Metro and six blocks to King Street Metro, walk to shops, restaurants and all the sights - from historic to hip.

King Street - the main street of Historic Old Town Alexandria is lined with unique shops, galleries, and restaurants. Take the (free) hop-on, hop-off trolley up and down King Street down to the river. Old Town is on the Potomac River and provides access to riverboat tours to Mt.Vernon Estate (George Washington's home)

The apartment is also in walking distance to the hip community of Del Ray which has interesting coffee shops, restaurants, shops, and Saturday farmers market. The farmers market, butcher and cheese shops mean that you can make your own meals in the full kitchen, too.

Or you can walk down the block to GRAPE + BEAN, Alexandria’s neighborhood destination for those who love great wine, beer, coffee and offers a lunch dining menu. There is also two restaurants, Lena's Stone Fired Pizzeria & Dos Amigos Mexican in walking distance. If you are travelling with children, there is a wonderful park only about four blocks away. Want to get around on bike? You can rent a bicycle with capital bike share, just at the end of the street.

About Dawn Luepke

Tim & I (Dawn) purchased this house in April 2014. We have rented in the area since our wedding rehearsal dinner six years ago and just fell in love with the quaintness of Del Ray, the waterfront of historic Old Town, and the easy access to Washington, D.C. so we are thrilled to be homeowners here. Tim grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and loves to offer his Midwestern hospitality. After college he was a tour guide here for international students so he knows a lot of what D.C. has to offer - so feel free to ask for places to visit and how to get there. Together, we opened a kids consignment boutique in Del Ray in 2010 and love being a part of this community. We live on the first floor of this two-unit home so are available for any of your needs.

Why Dawn Luepke chose Old Town West

We loved the convenient location, front porch, and the beautiful tree-lined street in a neighborhood filled with quaint bungalow style houses with front porches. As a one-car family, Tim bikes 1 mile to work at the US Trade & Patent Office (which has a small museum that is open to the public).

What makes this apartment unique

Its a charming 1930's home complete with a glass front door, original moldings, door knobs, & old-school radiators. We are having a wood fence installed this spring to complete the charm.

Perfect location!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 6 nights in June. My husband and I and our 19 & 12 year old sons. There are 2 bedrooms with the dayroom that we used for the third bedroom. There was an extra twin mattress that we put in there. We were all very comfortable. It felt more like we were staying in a friend's apartment, not a rental. Super cozy. Close to everything. The location is safe and everyone we ran into was super friendly!! Perfect location for touring around D.C. and the surrounding attractions. We parked are car in their driveway and took the Metro everywhere, which was within walking distance.

Great location made even better by great owners

  • 4 of 5

Our family likes to see everything when we travel to a new city. This house is only blocks from two metro stops which are a great hub to see the entire city. We felt perfectly safe walking back from the station late at night. The owners live beneath and are responsive but not intrusive.

A great location

  • 4 of 5

We loved the location of this home. The family was very accommodating and friendly.

It was fun to sit in the little room overlooking the neighborhood and watch folks walk their dogs.

It walk a short walk to the Metro, to restaurants, to King Street.

We all loved the hardwoods in the home and it was very clean. The kitchen had all that we needed for our short stay.

Thank you

Great Apartment for the Family Visiting DC

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our 2 kids age 8 and 11, and had a wonderful time. The home is quaint and really enhances the vibe of Old Town Alexandria. The home is not new, but has been upgraded and was very clean and comfortable for all of us. As others have mentioned, we used the sun room as a 3rd bedroom for our youngest and he loved it. The extra mattress was perfect for that smaller room. The location was awesome for both access to the metro (5 minute walk to Braddock Station) and the access to great restaurants and shops. We went to Lenas Pizza which was some of the best pizza I've had, and then drove to Old Town Alexandria for some Mexican food. While we were there, it wasn't hot, but I did notice that the air and heat were very nice, and they had a nest thermostat. The owners were very nice (they live downstairs with a separate entrance) and we never heard them and really never noticed them until we chatted when we were about to leave. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend the place. We will definitely come back!

Great Apartment in Alexandria

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this property in August 2017. We have 3 kids and need more space than a hotel room. This property was nice sized, great A/C in August weather, perfect to spread out. Nice bedroom for parents, 2nd bedroom for 2 kids, 3rd kid on the couch. Small sun room is nice to hang out in, especially when kids were sleeping. Small kitchen for making breakfast, sandwiches, and storing snacks. The metro is only 2 blocks away and it was so easy to go into DC for the day. Never heard the family who lives downstairs!

There are two restaurants & a small wine bar in walking distance - just two down the block. There is also a tennis court at end of the street if you want to bring your racket. And there is the Bike Share program with bike rentals if you'd like to get around that way. Of course the metro is only steps away too.
