About Abby

We are originally from the Ottawa area but moved to Toronto in the late 90s to pursue careers. We now have a 7 and a 9 year old.

Abby purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Abby chose Muskoka Lakes

We instantly fell in love with this cottage, nicknamed 'North Oak.' It had everything we were looking for and we knew it was the perfect retreat for our family. It was well loved by the same family for more than 40 years. Their children and grandchildren had grown up there. We want the same for our children. Whenever we are there we instantly relax and find it very difficult to return to the city.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is bright, inviting and very tasteful with high ceilings, floor to ceiling fireplaces and the perfect mix of rustic charm and convenience. It is very private and the views from the decks are breathtaking any time of year. In the summer the raised, southwest facing property means there is sun almost all day long, in winter you can watch the skidoos whip across the lake, and if a fall storm rages outside you can sit back and watch in comfort (knowing that there is a propane generator helps too). It is easily accessible year round (roads are plowed). The waterfront is shallow entry which gives us peace of mind with our kids. Plus Muskoka has everything you could ask for in terms of amenities and activities.

Great week at North Oak

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was exactly as advertised. Comfortable, roomy and well-stocked with ample decking for outdoor dining and relaxing.

We had tremendous weather, and spent most of our time on the spacious dock sunning, swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding. We had daily visits from a family of ducks, and there were deer on the adjacent point. The cottage was equipped with lots of fishing supplies. Walleye and smallmouth bass were among the fish caught off the end of the dock.

Host Abby was communicative and her directions and occupancy instructions were detailed and accurate. My family loved their stay, and we would highly recommend Abby and her beautiful property.

Relaxing Three Generation Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week away at Abby's cottage and couldn't have asked for more. We were three generations - a set of grandparents, new parents and an infant. The cottage was perfect for this, as two bedrooms were on one side (great for Mom, Dad and a noisy baby) and the master was on the other side (great for Grandparents who want to sleep in - grrrr). We really liked that there was a bathroom close by each of the bedrooms as well. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you could hope for, from kitchen utensils to water sports to cleaning supplies, cooking spices and fun indoor puzzles and games for rainy days. There was a large storm that rolled through the day before we arrived and Abby was incredible at keeping us well informed, organizing a crew to remove fallen trees, repair her dock, clean up all the debris and even have her propane run generator refilled so we wouldn't run out of power while we were there and power crews worked to restore power in the area. The generator turned out to be a HUGE plus, because we did not have power for two days and the transition from generator to the power grid and back again was seamless - we never actually noticed it switching on and off and power accessibility was constant. The dock is brilliant with lots of room for several adults to swim, the ladder off of the dock is big and sturdy and easy to climb up and down. Oh and the beds are super comfy! We'll be back for sure...a great rental for summer, but would also be amazing in the Fall or Winter, I'm sure. Thanks, Abby! :)

Relaxing week at North Oak

  • 5 of 5

Awesome cottage!!! Pictures and descriptions were exactly what our family of 9 experienced. Cottage had everything you could need and the views were amazing. We did not have good weather during our stay but it did not prevent us from having an excellent week as the inside of the cottage was more than accommodating. Thanks for a wonderful memory.

Amazing cottage!

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we pulled into the driveway, we knew this was going to be special. And it was. Abby was so easy to work with and always responded to emails and questions very quickly. The cottage accommodated the eight adults in our group very well. Beds were very very comfortable, surrounding was very peaceful, gorgeous open kitchen with all we needed to cook our own meals. We even cooked on the barbecue one night. It rained throughout our stay but it did not tamper our weekend. We sat around the georgeous wood fireplace in the living room and drank wine, played games and chatted until late at night. We had a wonderful time with memories to share forever! We would definitely come back again in the future.

Thank you so much Abby!
