Island suite between 2 waterfalls in historic stone Mill~Boats~Hot Tub~Bicycles
About Suzie Gutzman
We are a recently retired couple who love sharing our unique property with others.
Suzie Gutzman purchased this Mill in 1986
Why Suzie Gutzman chose Marysville
We bought this property when we were young and naiive. It has taken over 30 years and the journey, like all journeys has been difficult at times but very rewarding. The Lonsdale Mill has reached a potential even we did not believe possible in the beginning. The beautiful Salmon River with the abundance of wildlife and the lulling of the waterfalls is what keeps us here. Even though we're not located anywhere in particular, we're so close to everything. A short drive in 4 directions takes us to many towns and cities. We just can't imagine ourselves anywhere else.
What makes this Mill unique

Perfect in every way
We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay at the Island Mill Getaway. Everything was even more beautiful than in the pictures. We spent five nights alternating between relaxing at the property and venturing out to see nearby spots. We highly recommend staying with Jerry and Suzie and hope to return one of these days!
Amazing property and hosts!
Can’t say enough about how beautiful Suzie & Jerry’s property is absolutely stunning - the perfect getaway. Suzie and Jerry are friendly and knowledgable hosts. We absolutely loved our stay and have already passed on a few referrals!
Our stay at Suzie and Jerry's stunning old mill was nothig short of spectacular. From the warm welcome and hospitality, to the beautifully decorated suite (and entire building, I might add), we felt right at home. Our stay aas perfeft. There was never a minute where we were bored. You can peacefully read a book whilst listening to the rush of the river on either side. You can sit in the hot tub and relax. You can take the bikes provided, or just enjoy a nice long scenic walk. We cannot express how much we enjoyed our stay, and cannot wait to come back when we get the chance!
Jerry and Suzie have a beautiful home and are wonderful hosts. Their property is just as described in the VRBO post .
We hope to visit again someday !

STUNNING, ROMANTIC , AND YOUR NEXT GETAWAY!
5 STARS! My boyfriend and I booked the mill to celebrate our anniversary and it has over exceeded our expectations!
The Mill is absolutely stunning... a home away from home! It was the most relaxing vacation we have had in a long time.
We cannot wait to come back in the summer to experience everything the mill has to offer.
Suzie and Jerry are the most lovely couple and one of the many reasons we would return. They are respectful, easy going, and passionate about everything they’ve have built here at the Mill. They both go out of there way to make sure you are provided with everything that you need for your stay.
I would recommend The Island Mill to all the lovely couples looking for a romantic getaway.
Thank you for welcoming us into your home. We hope to see you both soon!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our mill with other travelers. We are so happy that you enjoyed the time you spent here even in the middle of winter. It was great to see guests using the bbq and sitting outside on lawn chairs in the snow. We would really love to see you come back and enjoy it here during the warmer months. Take care!
Cozy, familial-yet-private stay in an architecturally beautiful home in a charming landscape
We had a lovely stay in the Lonsdale Island Mill this Family Day long weekend. The setting is idyllic - the Mill is one of two houses perched atop a pint-sized island in the Salmon River at the base of the village of Lonsdale, and you are flanked by waterfalls on both sides. There were more (and more diverse) birds than you could count, and a steady stream of squirrels going by - a pleasure to witness! Even in winter, the Mill and its grounds are a delight and very clearly the product of years of work and care. Suzie and Jerry were warmly welcoming innkeepers, who gave us some great tips on nearby sights (Buttermilk Falls) and hikes (Menzel nature preserve) that we enthusiastically explored.
The Island Mill Suite is nestled in the heart of the home on the middle of three floors, accessed through the Mill's main entrance and family room. Suzie and Jerry are kind and generous hosts, and we enjoyed the conversations we had during our comings and goings. The suite itself is strictly pet-free (great for those with allergies!) but the home itself is the kingdom of an absolutely charming and cuddly cat named Linus (for the animal-lovers out there!).
The suite is wonderfully appointed, makes brilliant use of space (the secret, behind-the-painting nook for coffee pot and kettle is genius!), and comes with all the fundamentals (linens/towels, shampoo/conditioner/bodywash, a nice collection of spices/oil/sugar/basic condiments, cookware) as well as some thoughtful perks (a salad spinner, bathrobes, board games and coloured pencils...). The room has windows on three sides, so is filled with a warm and diffuse light most of the day, and the views over the river are lovely.
We enjoyed use of the hot tub, which was a novel treat on a frigid winter's night, and appreciated the little details Suzie and Jerry had thought of: crocs to step in/out of the house, extra towels by the door, an easy-open hot tub cover, etc. The nighttime view of the water, with the twinkling of the lights over the patio and the full moon, was spectacular.
We had a great stay at the Island Mill, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy, familial-yet-private stay in an architecturally beautiful and fascinating home set in a charming, serene landscape.
We would like to send out a heart-felt thank you for reviewing our property. We really appreciate you taking the time to write such a detailed review. It really helps future guests to get a feel for our place. We hope to see you again.
We are located in the tiny, picturesque hamlet of Lonsdale. Your suite is our converted Mill which was built circa 1829 and was the first building in the area. You can keep yourself very busy here in the summer cycling, walking and boating or by taking day trips to the many wineries, beaches, restaurants and shopping areas in Prince Edward County which is just 10 minutes south of us. Kingston and The 1000 Islands is also just a short 35 minute drive East where there are many tourist attractions, live theatre, boat cruises, shopping, festivals and restaurants. The town of Napanee is 15 minutes East where there are major three grocery stores, restaurants and a pleasant downtown shopping area. The town of Belleville is 25 minutes West and has a nice shopping mall and quite a lot of restaurants and festivals during the summer months. Belleville's Empire Theatre presents world class acts during the year.
