The island consists of two parts---the Dutch side and the French side, identified by border markers but requiring no passport for passage. English is the predominant language on the Dutch side, and many ex-pat Americans call St. Maarten home. Dutch Gilders (NAF) are as readily accepted as is American currency and exchange is easily translated at point-of-purchase at shops, restaurants and grocers.

Currency on the French side is predominantly Euros, but many shops accept American dollars at the same rate as Euros while others will facilitate a conversion and, sometimes an upcharge (depending upon market value).

There are many wonderful eateries on both the Dutch and French sides of the island that your hosts and other guests have enjoyed. Menu samples are arranged in a notebook reference guide located in the Condo or you can ask the concierge for other recommendations. Capt. and Mrs. Jon hail from the New England States and have, for years, enjoyed travelling throughout the Caribbean and decided to make St. Maarten their second home. Why Captain Jon and Louise chose Oyster Pond

After having been to all of the other islands, Capt. Jon and Louise were especially taken with the unspoiled beauty of the island, the its friendly people, and the variety of 37 beaches from which to choose! St. Maarten/St. Martin is home and favored vacation destination for many cultures! Avid boaters and snorkeling fans, the owners enjoy exploring the reef at Dawn Beach while their guests say that the water sports, zip-lining, horseback riding, hiking around the island, island hopping and shopping are among favorite things to do when they are not just relaxing or frolicking in the surf at Dawn Beach or taking pictures there at sunrise. Rather than choose a more serene bayside setting on the island, Jon and Louise preferred and selected the open ocean windward beach setting where breezes are constant and the surf is refreshing, invigorating and ideal for swimming, floating around with a styrofoam noodle or jumping through the gently rolling waves. You can see the neighboring island of St. Barthelemy (St. Barts) in the distance from the beach---who could ask for a better place to take a vacation or spend a special holiday?

Bar service and beach chairs and umbrellas are available on most of the 37 beaches on the island for a daily-use fee. Guests at SeaStar #24 are offered FREE CHAIRS and UMBRELLAS ON DAWN BEACH. Your hosts provide a beach tote, two chairs, noodle floats and an SPF 70 umbrella plus a cooler and reusable ice packs for your use. Parking along the other 36 beaches is generally free, and some beaches offer limited, day-guest fee-based parking. Housekeeping (twice weekly) services are INCLUDED in condo rental fee. There is NO additional fee for cleaning prior to your arrival or at the conclusion of your stay! If you wish, a rental car can be reserved for your use and delivered to Coral Beach Club on the day of your arrival. Ask the owners, property manager or concierge about specific requests when you confirm your condo reservations (deposit and licensing information required).

Amazing, after more than a dozen vacation rentals in St. Maarten I finally discovered this gem at Coral Beach Club. It started with my first contact with Jon and Louise who are just really nice folks. They were friendly and helpful through the entire booking process. The condo was immaculate, modern and comes with every amenity and appliance you could ever need. Dawn Beach is absolutely beautiful however the location of this unit allows for easy access to a number of other beaches. Accessible are also three great upscale restaurants and a convenience store. I will not only recommend this property but I will personally plan on returning many times in the future.

Coral Beach Delight

We recently stayed at Captain Jon and Louise's condo at Coral Beach Club. It was as described, and one of the cleanest condos we have stayed at in twenty plus years of visiting SXM. Lots of natural light and no issues with hot water or electricty wich can be common while on the island. Quite and easy access to the many attractions. The onsite staff were very friendly as was the cleaning staff and security. Our only wish was that the deck would have been larger and that it could be accessed from the living area. Having to lock the unit and walk around the side was somewhat disappointing. This may or may not be the case for everyone depending on how much deck time you like. The owners were very easy to do business with and we would recommend their condo. Thanks for sharing your place in paradise.

Great Location

This condo has everything we needed and then some. Very clean and comfortable. Felt very safe also. The location was perfect for us and it was nice that there were 4 restaurants open in the immediate area. Mama's Pizza, BHZ Creperie, L'Oasis. Infinity is just open on weekends until June.

The condo was very nice and well equiped with high end stuff.

The condo is located in a nice location. However the destruction left by hurricane Irma in St. Martin especially in Oyster Pond limits places to go. The condo itself was very nice and very well equipped with high end items. A great bed and nice flat screen TV's in both living room and bedroom.

Amazing little condo. Modern with spectacular service!

We loved the island and the condo was modern, clean and perfect for us! The big downside that was not brought to our attention is this side of the island is literally covered in sea weed 6 months out of the year. We were unable to use our beach (they were piling up and removing the seaweed with bulldozers) our entire visit. We were forced to drive to the other side of the island daily! We were told this happens every year! All of the activities offered on the island were amazing!

The seaweed issue is sporadic and is attributed to ocean currents; not a typical occurance for six month a year, annually, as was reported to you. As one of our guests who has been to island over the last sixteen years put it best, they "most definitely prefer the cleanliness and upkeep of the Dawn beach area to options (elsewhere on the island) that are old and tired. We'll take the occasional seaweed over uncontrolled infestations anytime." Most of our guests do enjoy the options of having other beaches to visit during their stay, preferring the easy retreat to the security and upscale area that is Coral Beach Club and Dawn Beach, with access to BOTH beach resorts and all the restaurants, pools and services offered right on site. Guests enjoy the zip-lining adventures, horseback riding on Galion Beach, breakfast at La Sucrere in Simpson Bay shopping on Front Street in Philipsburg, water sports and snorkeling at any one of 37 beaches, naturalist sunbathing and swimming at a public-welcome crescent-shaped 1.5-mile stretch of white-sandy beach, scuba-diving and/or lessons in a PADI-approved training center and bay, watching the planes come in and depart near the Princess Julianna International Airport, and the numerous casinos, bars and restaurants throughout the island. Regardless of your interests, you will find your own source of perfect enchantment, entertainment and relaxation on the "Friendly Island" that is Sint Maarten/St. Martin.

For snorkeling fans, pack your gear at the bottom of your suitcase! Since there is a PRIVATE state-of-the-art multi-cycle washer and dryer within the condo for your exclusive use, there is no need to overpack! Recommended attire is cotton/linen casual or sportswear, even for dining out at most of the restaurants.

Premium amenities are provided (L'Occitane Verbena Shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower gel, body lotion), a fully equipped kitchen (including Wusthof cutlery, select condiments, spices and a few other convenience items). Four beach chairs, one umbrella, cooler, sand cart and beach towels are provided for your use throughout the island, Styrofoam "noodles" for floating around in the water at any one of the 37 beaches here or the semi-private pool facing the harbor. Beach chairs, umbrella and food to go are available on many of the beaches (fee + tip recommended to set-up person). Private gas grill is provided for your EXCLUSIVE use during your stay. (Any risk related to gas grill use is borne by the users and users hold owners and agents harmless for any damages or injury sustained while using the grill.)
