This classic and cozy Bungalow was built in 1923, has been completely restored and all utilities updated. It features 2 true original bedrooms on the main floor, a full bathroom on the main floor, an upstairs loft room with a plush full sofa/futon, and a lower finished basement with new carpet, a private queen bed, a living space with a plush full sofa/futon, a second full bathroom, and full laundry facilities. The house sleeps 5 in beds, with the two futon/sofa options available if needed.

Located in the bustling Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood, the house is steps away from great restaurants, fresh local grocery stores, farmers markets, unique local shopping, 2 large parks plus the Riverfront Park, Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge, the Willamette River, and everything you need within walking distance.

Situated in a SE Portland neighborhood by the Willamette River, it's very close and convenient to Reed College and Lewis & Clark College, as well as a short drive to Portland State University and University of Portland.

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and dining, and features a vintage Chambers range, spacious refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, and microwave oven. (Chambers is the same vintage range used by celebrity chef Rachel Ray). The house is set up with fast wireless internet and full cable TV programming. There is a beautiful round table and 4 chairs in the quaint backyard space with gas grill.

For the business traveler or for those times a workspace is helpful, the front bedroom/office features an extraordinary and spacious roll-top desk, with desk light, chair, and basic office supplies. There's a paver driveway along the side of the house for off-street parking 2 cars, plus street parking.

The house has a newly updated central HVAC system with efficient heating for cooler months, and central air conditioning for the warmer summer weather. Plus all updated windows throughout keep it warm in winter and cool in summer months.

Sellwood is a regional favorite neighborhood for walking, dining, antiquing, shopping, bird watching and exploring in the wildlife refuge just steps away. Downtown Portland is 4 miles close, an easy trip by car, bike or bus service, with bus line 70 just a couple blocks away. For young ones, there's a Pack-n-Play and high chair available, as well as toys, books and an awesome Brio train set.

This is a private full property rental. The owners are not on the premises, but easily available as needed and very responsive. Rates posted are based on parties up to 4. An additional guest fee of $12 per night/per guest will be applied to parties over 4. Feel free to contact us for Winter season rate specials.

We love Portland and the Pacific Northwest, and chose this house in Sellwood because the location is close to everything we need and enjoy, we can walk to almost everything from the house, and the neighborhood has a great comfortable vibe.

What makes this house unique

This cozy Bungalow has more depth than one would think. There are nice spaces like the upstairs room for reading and relaxing with a rocking chair and sofa/futon, and the finished basement with a private queen bed, full bathroom, sofa/futon, bucket chairs, TV and laundry. One of our favorite features of this house is the front porch, which on warmer days, is literally an extra outdoor room overlooking the garden below.

Just steps away are two amazing parks, Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge, Riverfront Park along the river, Oaks Amusement Park, some of Portland's finest restaurants, some great local casual dining including food carts, a New Seasons market, Sellwood's Antique Row, some of Portland's most unique shops, a public library, public transit, and more.

Downstairs in the finished basement, is a nice queen bed with a new plush mattress, on a teak frame with headboard in a private space, a full sofa/futon with TV, full bathroom, and complete laundry facilities. There is also a finished bonus room upstairs with a sofa/futon, to use as a separate bedroom or just an amazing space to relax. Please note: the steps to the upstairs room are steep, and would not be recommended for elderly or very young children who may need assistance. The two bathrooms are located on the main floor and downstairs in the finished basement area.

Holiday Stay

Very comfortable and Scott and Lynn were wonderful to work with. The only drawback is a neighbor who will tolerate no noise after 9:00 pm. This makes it a little difficult to enjoy the backyard or even in coming and going after 9:00. However, this is more than made up for by the comfort of the home.

Comfort and convenience

This was our second time here. What a lovely, clean and inviting house. So much room. The hosts, Scott and Lynne, are kind people and make themselves available when you have a question or need something. The neighborhood is quiet, and the house is a short walk to coffee shops, restaurants, lots of antique stores and a New Seasons Market. The house comes with a vintage gas stove that is fun to use and brings you back to another era. Laundry in the basement is convenient, the kitchen is well-equipped--no dishwasher but we didn't mind hand washing at all. We visit our daughter at college when we are here, and this house will be part of our fond memories of her time in Portland. I feel so lucky that we found this house. What a gem!

Excellent location and nice house!

I wish that I could have given 4.5 stars. The house was very nice and had the room that we needed; even though we didn't spend a lot of time in it. The owners were helpful and in communication if needed. The only issues we had were minimal. We would have liked some pillows that were not down and the moldy caulk around the kitchen sink is a pet peeve that I don't like. Other than those couple of things the house was nice and clean and had what was needed and expected. The location was also great! It put us right in the middle of all our activities, and there were many local shops and restaurants near by. We would gladly rent again if we were going to be in the area!

And we are regularly addressing the various tasks around the house as to maintain a clean and comfortable home, including grout mold (which has been taken care of).
