Above and beyond expectations

  • 5 of 5

For our annual birthday “up-North” getaway we were attracted to Singing Waters from the photos, being kid-friendly, and its location. The guest house lived up to the photos! When we arrived there were cookies and birthday balloons waiting for us; in addition to the place being clean, inviting, and well-stocked.

Seriously, it’s the best place we’ve ever stayed. On the 19 acres are several other impressive structures, hiking trails, a pond, river swimming access with waterfalls, and the friendliest couple this side of Lake Superior.

Our favorite highlights: the cabana, the Lincoln Log library, indoor hopscotch, comfy beds, games (board and handheld electronic for indoor, kerplunk and cornhole outdoor), a rushing waterfall on the river, nice shower, screened porch, scavenger hunts along the hiking trails, and of course the vibrant, inspiring décor.

We hope to come back next year!

Loved our stay at Singing Waters!!

  • 5 of 5

Singing Waters is such an amazing place for adults and children! Im having trouble even finding the words to describe it. There's just so many things to see and do and the guest house has such a warm and cozy feeling to it. We loved being able to explore the 19 acres, including a waterfall, the Lincoln library, the hideout, the pond, the cabana, even the signs along the trails and many other things to see along the way. When weather was cold we played games inside that they've provided. Everything we needed was there! I could go on and on about how amazing Singing Waters is. Our children ages 6, 2 and 11 months all had so much fun. Owners are also very friendly and made us and our children feel welcome. We definetly will be back!! Thank you Stacey and Shellie for sharing your guest house with us!

North shore birthday weekend

  • 5 of 5

From the moment you arrive at Singing Waters you feel welcome. Fresh made cookies, birthday balloons and a wide array of comforts and artful décor greet you. Stacey and Shellie are friendly, helpful and responsive. The house is well stocked. Plenty of room in the kitchen with a variety of places to sit and converse while meals are prepared. They even have a blender! Something I rarely find in the places I've stayed. If they put the microwave up on a shelf, that would open up a bit more counter space. A basket of nightlights is provided for you to place as needed. The comfiest bean bag chair in the world exists in the living room, along with an ample comfy couch. Loved the soft throw blankets. Wide stairwell to the 2nd floor. All the beds are comfortable. the twins have more firm mattresses than the full bed on the 1st floor. Lots of pillow choices. Bed linens are high quality. Shower pressure is good, towels large and soft, plenty of hot water for everyone. If you forget to bring body wash, shampoo, conditioner, no problem. There's some available. The screened in porch and large windows letting in natural light makes this a happy place surrounded by nature.

The hosts provide plenty of activities to do both indoors (games, movies, magazines) and out. We enjoyed the scavenger hunt, exploring the trails making the shape of MN, finding the trail camera (Angus says hi!) and other surprises hidden within the property (be sure to look in trees), hammocks, stairs to the swimming hole, library log cabin, and lawn ker-plunk. Stacey built us a fantastic fire Sun night. Highly recommend. There are marshmallow sticks in the kitchen. A binder of house guidelines, WI-FI password, restaurant maps and trail maps is helpful and appreciated.

The location is easy to find with the hosts' directions. And is close to many local attractions (Duluth is only 10-15 minutes away), State Parks and hiking trails. We traversed the 4.2 mile Knife River trail (10 min away). Easy with a few hills, well marked and beautiful.

The four of us seriously did not want to leave because it truly is that wonderful and relaxing. This may become our new home away from home for our annual north shore birthday gathering. Thank you so much, Stacey and Shellie, for sharing your beautiful location, guest house and your MN nice hospitality. We loved it! Slainte

We are traveling with 2 boys, 6 years and 8 years. They loved the river! The library is their favorite as well. We totally agree all the comments made by previous visitors and will definitely come back again.

Great experience

  • 5 of 5

Great place with unique and eclectic decor kids loved. The little details like welcome cookies, treasure hunt map for kiddos, games, extra bedding and coffee made our stay perfect. The grounds are beautiful and are perfect for hiking even with toddlers. Hosts are great and easily accessible at any time. One suggestion - would be great to have a blue ray DVD player.

Thank you for a great experience!
