About Don Wagner

About the Owner:

Don Wagner - Southern Lancaster County has been my home for my entire life. I live 10 minutes away from Creekside Cottage and have been in the Real Estate business for many years. It has been my vision to create a place for guests to stay while visiting beautiful Southern Lancaster County. Creekside Cottage's manager, Carol Gibson, a retired elementary teacher, was also born and raised in Southern Lancaster County.

Don Wagner purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Don Wagner chose Drumore

This property is adjacent to my country cabin and stables. The rich history and natural attractions in this area inspired me to build Creekside Cottage. Come learn, relax and explore this beautiful area!

What makes this cottage unique

I designed Creekside Cottage with comfort and efficiency in mind. The wood used for the kitchen island, kitchen table, walls in the den and Master bathroom all came from the trees on my property. If you stroll down behind the cottage, you will discover the most amazing natural rock wall. If you desire to visit an authentic Amish community, then this is your place.

May you find peace, comfort and serenity during your visit!

Guestbook comments from the manager

"The cottage was cozy, charming, and well suited for a relaxing weekend!

It's a warm inviting cottage with enough room for everyone. The rooms were easy enough to navigate for the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and living room.

This roomy cottage in the woods provides a peaceful retreat. The fireplace in the living room and warm-colored decor make for a cozy environment. The road in front of the cottage has very little traffic and the views outside the back of the house are beautiful.

Perfect place to get away on a cold February weekend. The accommodations were very nice including multiple fireplaces and plenty of rooms for everyone to stay.

The retreat at Drumore was such a beautiful location to get away and relax even for a short time. The house fit a large group of people comfortably and accommodated everyone’s needs! Thank you for building such a sweet get away!

We loved the place. Don was so accommodating and we felt at home right away. It was such a warm and inviting atmosphere and it was a perfect setting for a retreat getaway!"

Thanks Carol. I’ll pass along any other feedback I may receive.

Fantastic, cozy, warm and inviting

  • 5 of 5

Carol and Don are amazing hosts with an incredible cottage. It has everything and more! I enjoyed the gas fireplace every night while sitting with family and talking or watching TV. We will definitely be back and bring more family members next time so they can enjoy this cottage like we have this week.

Creek a Leek!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home. Hope to return after the basement is finished, I'm sure it will be equally impressive. The creek out back is gorgeous, red cardinals darting back and forth, salamanders salamandering, and a pile of wood, neatly stacked, waiting to meet its fiery end in the well maintained fire pit area.

Not much around to do, outside some hiking by the state park and probably fishing nearby, but that's why we came. Will likely return in a different season to enjoy again.

Don, the owner, is attentive and friendly.

Owner's Response: Dear Brent, Thank you for your kind comments. Yes, basement will provide another bedroom, bathroom and a very comfortable great room, which is designed to look much like a tavern room. Please come back to see the developments! Sincerely, Carol & Don

Great Getaway, gave us a memorable marriage!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I absolutely loved staying here. Carol and Don were great, as was the neighbor, Mr. Herr. Candace and I married at the Creekside Cottage on June 17th, 2017. Although the weather was intensely humid, we couldn't have picked a better location for an outside wedding. A nearby natural rock-formation made a fantastic backdrop for the alter, while the nearby creek bubbling in the background created a tranquil audio.

There were a total of 24 people at our wedding and we dined comfortably in the living room. We had plenty of room in the kitchen to prepare two main dishes and several sides, and we were able to store the cold foods, 10 champagne/cider bottles, and several deserts in the upstairs and basement fridges.

Everyone who attended the wedding loved the location. Our grandmothers all joked about retiring there. A mason with 58 year year's experience was impressed by the fireplace and woodworking. A man with 15 years contracting and renovating experience was equally impressed by the siding. Even those of us with less experience loved the place. Don is obviously quite creative--he informed us that the cottage is of his own design--and the cottage shows it. There's even a cabin within the cottage (peek downstairs and you'll see what I mean). The fire pit provided us with nighttime activities and there were plenty of humorous moments thanks to the unique wall coverings (check the laundry-room, opposite wall of the wash & drier for an example)

We couldn't have been happier. Thanks Carol, Don, and Mr. Herr for providing us with the perfect location for our wedding!

Owner's Response: Dear Michael & Candace, Thank you for a most thorough review! We loved having you there for your wedding. Future guests will love seeing the photos of your ceremony on our FB page and then can see the beautiful rock formation for themselves if they choose to visit. Thank you for taking such good care of the cottage. We wish you many years of wedding bliss and please come back to see us again! (Maybe an anniversary stay!) Warmly, Carol and Don
