About Jacques and Becky Gagne

It all started with mail order Christmas wreaths. We were looking for a property to run our seasonal business, Island Sea Wreath when this property, close to our home, became available in 2000. The property consisted of a main house and small guest cottage and was perfect for our seasonal business needs. We were lucky to find year round renters for both houses. Last spring we said goodbye to Sally, our renter and friend who had been at the Balsam Lane Cottage for almost 13 years. I went to work remodeling and decorating the now vacant cottage for summer renters. Much to my delight I uncovered my inner contractor/decorator! I picked paint colors, fabrics, antique furniture and other eclectic pieces to create a relaxing and uncluttered environment. I wanted to live there myself! The property is peaceful being located down a private road but only minutes from the village center. You'll enjoy the sunny deck all day long and may even spy a family of deer feasting under the old apple tree in the field.

Jacques and Becky Gagne purchased this cottage in 2000

Great Stay at Blue Hill Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Blue Hill cottage was fabulous. The location was perfect for our activities, it was centrally located to Bangor and Acadia National Park. The cottage was adorably decorated, well maintained and extremely comfortable for two people. The owner was engaged just enough to make sure our stay at her property was a positive experience. We highly recommend this property.

Lovely little cottage

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our stay at Balsam Cottage. It was adorable! So charming and quiet. It's a perfect location for exploring the cute little town of Blue Hill, as well as the entire peninsula. Becky couldn't have been nicer, making sure we were comfortably settled and answering all our questions.

We would definitely return.

We loved our stay!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely, cozy, and private. Perfect getaway. We had a great time at the local eateries, and the cottage was close (easy drives)to many spots of interest. Centrally located, so made for fantastic day trips with a respite for us to return to at the end of the day, Will most assuredly visit again...and would very highly recommend this home away from home!

Amazing Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cottage! So peaceful and quiet! Jacque and Becky have made this cottage very comfortable and we would highly recommend it! We loved the little touches that they have made to make it so special! Blue Hill is a great place to stay as it is close to the "touristy" spots, yet far enough from the crowds! If you are looking for a great Maine stay... This is the place to come!

Owner's Response: Thanks for such a glowing review! We are always happy to hear that our guests appreciate the quiet and peaceful nature of the property and its close proximity to the village of Blue Hill. I love the mention of the "game and project" space! I'm going to pick up a jigsaw puzzle today along with steak knives and a better wine bottle opener that you suggested!
