John Ryan purchased this condo in 2013
I love the mountains. The view is great. The weather is cool in summer. There are lots of nearby amenities and restaurants. This area is the most biologically significant part of the Appalachian Mountains and is known for the diversity of its plant and animal life, including more than 160 species of birds. Few regions outside the tropics offer such opportunities for observing and enjoying the benefits of such a unique ecosystem. These Southern Blue Ridge Mountains, some of the oldest mountains in the world, are home to an incredible wealth of species. They contain the world's greatest number of endemic plants and animals, meaning these species occur nowhere else in the world. They are home to 400 rare plants and more than 250 endemic plants. The streams are home to crayfish found nowhere else in the world. More than 230 fish species have been documented, and new species continue to b e discovered. These mountains are also critical habitat for populations of globally declining neotropical migrant songbirds, such as the whip-poor-will and Canada warbler. Five watersheds originate here in the mountains of Macon and Jackson Counties. This area of the Blue Ridge Mountains is (no kidding!) the Salamander Capital of the World (note upper case). Salamanders are most abundant in old growth forests, where large amounts of rotting logs and moisture-conserving leaf litter provide optimal microinhabitants for terrestrial species. These mountains are very old, giving plenty of time for a variety of salamanders to emerge. During the Pleistocene era (about 10,000 years ago) , glaciers covered much of North America but did not reach these mountains. Consequently, these mountains became a refuge for many species of plants and animals. Many species remained within habitat earth islands on isolated mountain peaks. New salamanders continue to be discovered. DNA techniques have determined that identical looking salamanders are in fact genetically distinct species.
Optional access to two outdoor pools, tennis courts and one heated indoor pool and health club. Great birding. Powerful optics provided. Great walking areas. Extensive nature library highlighting local plants, history, geography and wildlife. This condo is a stone's throw from Fairfield Lake and from two of the three balconies you have views of the following mountains: Little Bald Rock Mountain and Little Hogback Mountain.
We enjoyed staying here. The place was new, clean, well equipped, and spacious. The balcony view is beautiful and it is close to trails/waterfalls. We had a good time. John was so easy to communicate with and he was so responsive. We will be back for sure!
This is a lovely property, spacious, well equipped and very comfortable.
The owner sent us comprehensive instructions, very useful details about the area, and fascinating historical information.
It is extremely well situated close to the lovely Fairfield Lake, and has easy access to the highway east and west.
I would highly recommend this rental.
I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. I'm a bug fanatic and I was worried I'd see them scurrying around the corners. I needn't have worried for one minute! This place is quiet and clean and worth every penny. The 2 BR and 2 baths are on separate levels so there's no running into one another on a mad dash to the bathrooms. It was a wonderful stay!! Don't hesitate for a minute to book this condo!!
We go up to Cashiers to get away from the Florida heat. The beautiful weather didn't disappoint. The condo was everything it was advertised to be. Would definitely rent it again! We had a great and relaxing time.
Nicely furnished and decorated, well equipped with nice quality dishes, pots and pans. We felt at home because of the nice things that make a stay pleasant... like nice linens, updated bathrooms with good water pressure! Comfortable deck overlooking the mountains. Hummingbirds to top it off. This home is convenient to everything fun in Sapphire Valley, Cashiers and HIghlands. We would definitely stay again.
We had a great weekend in Cashiers at this well appointed condo. Everything we needed was furnished. Beds were firm and comfy, kitchen was well stocked and sectional sofa had plenty of room for all. Colors were pretty, not quite peak and temps were perfect! Will stay here again if the need arises.
Nestled into the mountains of the Nantahala National Forest 4.2 miles east of Cashiers. This spacious 3-level townhouse has everything you need to feel at home away from home, complete with great views! On top of that you'll have access to the ever-popular Sapphire Valley Resort amenities package which will allow you to play on the 9-hole golf course, carpet golf, and tennis, use their exercise room, walking trails and more! Everything is within easy access too, including several popular restaurants. You'll be glad you came - everything is better in Sapphire Valley!

No pets and no smoking in unit. I don't take a damage deposit or charge a cleaning fee. I rely on the good faith of my guests. I have a cleaning crew come in at your departure, but appreciate anything you can do to make their job easier. Please use the townhouse as your own -- gently. Thank you and enjoy!
