About Ron McGowan or Dana McDaniel

Dana and Ron are artists. They built the casita and their home, located on the same property, with their own hands beginning in 1982. The casita was once their pottery studio but has been completely remodeled and updated into the beautiful space it is today. Their studio adjoins the casita but is accessed from a different driveway.

Ron McGowan or Dana McDaniel purchased this cottage in 1982

Why Ron McGowan or Dana McDaniel chose Corrales

We love Corrales. It offers the convenience of the greater Albuquerque area with a quiet, rural atmosphere. We bought this property for the views and have remained because of the artist community. When we built, neighbors and friends helped each other raise roofs, lay adobes and brick floors and pour concrete. It's a special and unique village.

What makes this cottage unique

Corrales is a unique village located in a rural atmosphere but very convenient to all Albuquerque has to offer while being 1 hour from central Santa Fe. The Casita is a quiet , secure, well-appointed space ideal for a mature couple who enjoys outdoor activities, exploring different cultural sites and just relaxing and experiencing the uniqueness of New Mexico

Comfortable & Cozy in January

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this lovely casita in Corrales earlier this month (January 2018). I had a concern that it might be hard to keep it warm in January. But while we did miss having a fireplace, it was still plenty warm, and heated up quickly on the chilly mornings. The casita is situated only about 50 feet off the road, but it isn't very busy or noisy, so we were pleased with that. The kitchen is very nice to work in, and the dining area cheery, comfortable and convenient. The bathroom is rather small and though I always hope for a sink countertop roomy enough for 2 toiletries bags, it wasn't here. I used the deep windowsill and my husband utilized the top of the washing machine, in the adjacent laundry room.

As the photos show, the master bedroom is small, but the closets in both the master- and smaller bedroom are very roomy with plenty of hangers provided, which was great. I must say however, the mattress in the master bedroom was pretty bad. We were very uncomfortable. A new mattress is an easy fix, however.

There is a nice private sitting area outside, which will be enjoyable in the warmer months, but it was too cold to enjoy during our stay.

Lovely, clean and quiet

  • 5 of 5

The place feels new, well set kitchen, good laundry, lots of light and space. Nicely and minimally decorated. It is a short drive to the small town of Corrales' historic buildings, restaurants, and shops. We really enjoyed our stay in this rural area, and highly recommend.

Too good to share...

  • 5 of 5

It is so perfect we hate to tell people about it. We stayed 6 weeks this fall. Well furnished, fully equipped kitchen and laundry, clean, and a great private garden with local wildlife. We’re returning soon, that’s how much we liked it.

A great place to stay. Compact but spacious. Beautifully decorated and well equipped.

We loved this Casita. It was perfect for our needs while visiting family in Corrales. I would definitely stay with Ron and Dana again. The Casita is small, however it feels very spacious.

I can not say enough good about it. Thanks Ron and Dana for providing a comfortable and clean home away from home.

Great Value, Wonderful Hosts, Just the Vacay We Hoped For!

  • 5 of 5

This property & its hosts, Ron and Dana, earn their unanimous 5-star reviews by offering a tastefully decorated, comfortable casita at a great value along with their warm and friendly hospitality. You'll enjoy quality furnishings (comfy bed, plush towels, etc). We love to cook & lacked for nothing in their well-equipped kitchen. Loved the quiet, much brighter stars than we see in the city & also roosters, chickens, horses, llamas, and dogs at their neighbors' properties. Corrales is a cool & charming town with welcoming people everywhere. Be sure to spend some time in town. We enjoyed being able to get to local galleries there & in ABQ but also day-trip to Placitas and other nearby towns. Much thanks to Ron and Dana!
