About Brian Smith

The owners grew up in the Connecticut area, enjoy travel, skiing, watersports, and are currently living internationally, but expect to return to this property full time, someday. Frequent users of VRBO for vacation rentals.

Brian Smith purchased this house in 2013

Why Brian Smith chose Goshen

Knowing this lake well, when we became aware that this property was available we contracted for it even before being able to see it in person. It is the oldest of very few houses built on this lake.

What makes this house unique

This lake has only ten houses on it. The shoreline on the opposite side is unoccupied and is protected from development by a historic boy scout camp and woodlands. One of few places in the world that it gets dark enough to really enjoy the stars.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house surpassed our expectations, The lake was wonderful. So many wonderful memories made with our families.

Secluded, perfect for all ages

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 8 adults (2 sets of parents, 2 sets of grandparents) and 3 kids (7, 5 and 2) and the home was perfect! The grounds were amazing with lots of things to do. The little boat house was perfect we could still be out doors when it rained. I went for a walk every morning around the neighborhood and it was beautiful and friendly.

Beautiful lake front made for a relaxing long weekend

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful lake front home was a great getaway for the long weekend for our group of 8 adults. Ample bedrooms on the 2nd floor (4 bedrooms - 1 king with bath, 1 queen with bath, and 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds in each) even enough bathrooms (3.5 bathrooms) for all of us to share!

The row boat and kayaks were a nice touch or just swimming around the calm lake was relaxing. There were also some fish near the area where you enter the water, where it is more shallow, so it was great to be able to look down and see fish. The firepit was great for night time s'mores under the stars (but since the house is on the water, don't forget some bug spray or citronella candles at night).

The kitchen was spacious with stove top, 2 ovens, microwave, toaster, fridge with ice maker, dishwasher, and no shortage of cookware, dishes and utensils. There was seating at the dining room table for 8 where we could all gather for breakfast, and also plenty of seating outside on the deck for us to enjoy meals cooked on the gas grill. Supermarkets, restaurants and shops were close by (about 10 - 20 min) for days where we didn't want to cook/grill.

All of us were able to get phone service, some a better connection depending on your carrier. Wifi worked great throughout the house. Large living room space for us to enjoy some board games (plenty to choose from at the house). The tv was a bit small for the large space and off to the left side of the room, so it was harder to enjoy from the couch. I do wish that it was a smart tv or had a chromecast so we could watch Netflix or Hulu, but not a big deal since the cable channel line up was good and we could always find something to watch.

Also, the homeowner sent us updates on the house and the condition of the lake and the house manager was super responsive when we had questions.

Overall, we had a fun and relaxing long Memorial Day weekend at the lake house and would return for sure!

What a pleasure to relax in Goshen

  • 5 of 5

Kitchen, bathrooms, setting, location, where do I begin. Brian & Co do a wonderful job at renting this spacious house on Wend End Pond. There were so many boats and kayaks that our grandchildren never had a dull moment. The attention to details and appointments made our stay an absolute dream for my wife and my two son's families. We would love to stay here again sometime in the future.
