We will rent again!

  • 5 of 5

Property was very nice, well decorated, clean and provided everything one would need. We were extremely close to the pool and tennis courts which was great. And once we figured out the bike route to the beach, that was only a ten minute, very pleasant ride. Highly recommend!

A good place for a vacation but not for a writer’s retreat

  • 3 of 5

This place is conveniently located, beautifully decorated, and well equipped as a vacation getaway. My 3-star rating is based on my experience as I was attracted to the idea of an “office” and “wi-fi printer”; my goal was a week of solitude for studying and writing. There were some problems. I did not receive the promised guest pass (had to pay $20 at the gate; I am awaiting promised refund). I did not receive instructions, including the door code or wi-fi code. VRBO states info is available online. That is not true. I called the owner and waited for two hours (with a trunk full of groceries in 90 degree heat after a 10-hour drive) before getting through. (I received no apologies.) Inside, I found the refrigerator had not been cleaned; there was melted ice cream all over the shelves. The light above the stove top didn’t work, making food prep difficult. I opened the blinds and put a table lamp on top of the refrigerator. There were several burned out bulbs throughout the place, including at the front door, which made night entry difficult. The only lamp in the living room was missing 3 of 4 bulbs.

The office space is the darkest room, with only a 40 watt floor lamp. When I opened the window blinds, I found sunlight blocked by green moss and spiderwebs. There was inadequate light to work, particularly after sundown. The desk is attractive, but not functional as a serious work space. The wicker chair is too low and uncomfortable for sitting for long periods. The printer did not work.

The wi-fi did provid a great signal, the DVD player and television worked flawlessly, and the bed was delightfully comfortable. The tub in the master bath is the perfect size for soaking, and the artwork throughout is tasteful and pleasing. The outdoor grill is an electric Weber and did an outstanding job on fish and meat. Grill tools are provided. The outside deck is comfortable and partially sheltered from rain. It was especially nice for early morning coffee overlooking the lagoon.

Positives do outweigh negatives. All other reviews spoke of an accommodating owner, and so I’m going to assume my experience was uncommon and that perhaps she was having a stressful day. Definitely give this place a try if looking for a vacation spot. It would be very nice for two adults. Since the “office” has a sofa sleeper, it might be better for children than adults. Definitely not a great choice if looking for a writing retreat or working holiday arrangement.

Peaceful Location

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the Villa for two weeks. The Villa was very comfortable and nicely appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals.

Kathy was easy to work with and quickly responded to any question we had.

We would consider staying in this Villa on our next visit to Hilton Head.

Great place for a vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 4 weeks here and loved it. It was clean , perfect location, and if there were any questions or problems Kathy answered immediately and they were solved. The deck was awesome to sit and enjoy the sun and watch the many alligators, and birds. The kitchen could have better lighting but apart from that we throughly loved it here and will definitely come back.

Birthday Retreat

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Lake Forest Villa. Kathy, the owner, was very helpful upon our arrival and handled a mix up very professionally and corrected the concern quickly. We loved the open floor plan, it was perfect for my wife and me. It is well furnished and the equipped with everything you might need for your stay. The master bedroom was nice and the king size bed was super. We slept great every night. We felt at home here. The central location in Sea Pines is an added plus. We had a wonderful time celebrating my wife's birthday.

This is our third year vacation at this awesome villa. We absolutely feel like it is a "home away from home". The king bed is very comfortable. The villa is tastefully decorated and fully equipped. We stop at Kroger on the way in and stock the fridge and pantry with groceries and we are set for the week. We make our coffee and sit on the deck in the mornings before the heat sets in and enjoy reading and watching the alligators in the pond. We really enjoy the pool and tennis courts and riding our bikes all over the resort. The owner is very accommodating too as in the beginning, we sure asked a lot of questions and she was very patient with us. I have recommended this villa to many people. You can stop searching now and schedule your vacation here at this awesome place!

Coming in from 278 to Hilton Head Island, take the Cross Island Parkway. Stay in the right lane and exit right in the traffic circle to Sea Pines. When you see the Governors Road sign on the right, turn left into Lake Forest. Take a right and go to the first left. It is the first unit on the right. 3338.
