Well furnished, comfortable, owners easy to work with. Kitchen and cleaning supplies are very poor.

  • 3 of 5

As pictured, the house is well maintained, warm, and has beautiful furnishings. Large appliances are in good working order, Good location. The negative is the poorly supplied kitchen. As examples, there aren't any lids for the pots & pans (we used a cookie sheet), and there should be a full set of pots and pan. For eating utensils there are 8 plates, bowls, cups, forks etc. No serving bowls. The only small appliances are a toaster and a coffee pot. The house easily sleeps 8 adults with 4 queen beds, and there should be double this amount of eating utensils. It is a case of constantly washing a plate, or a glass etc. There are also inadequate and cheap cooking utensils (spatulas etc). I would suggest the owners who live close by, go to the rental and attempt to cook meals for one day without adding any kitchen supplies . I don't think they realize how poorly supplied the kitchen is.

There is a notice when you arrive regarding cleaning requirements in order to get your deposit back. There is no bucket provided although scrubbing the floors is required. No cleaning cloths. We did get our deposit back without any problems. Towels were provided, but again inadequate for the number of people in residence. There were 8 bath towels, and two or three hand towels, no bath rugs. So two of the hand towels were used as 'rugs.' There is a big screen TV, this is for movies only, no television reception (this is not mentioned in the description) no radios/alarm clocks. The stay was enjoyable and frustrating. We would consider renting again if additional supplies were made available.

Beautiful Charming Home

  • 4 of 5

We loved staying in this home, it was so clean and well maintained. Had a bump with the water but the owner responded and fixed the issue and was always available to answer your questions. This home has been very well taken care of and has very high end furnishings, so care must be taken to avoid damaging the furnishings. Coasters would be great, we all were very cautious with setting drinks down, due to the nice quality of the wood. They don't charge a cleaning fee, so you do have to clean the tubs, toilets mop and vacuum. We are a clean family and we all pitched in so it wasn't bad to do. There is no TV service and limited cell service, so if you want to unplug from it all, this is the place. We enjoyed having our adult children interacting instead of being on a device, so it was nice. The owner is great, took us to see his farm, which is absolutely incredible, and we enjoyed hearing about his accomplishments. He brought us fresh eggs too! We loved our visit and would recommend this home! Thanks for being so great to work with and being so kind to us, you really are an amazing family!

Perfect and great location!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great little house and perfect location to stay near bear lake. We stayed here with 3 small families and had plenty of room! Very clean and updated house has everything you need for a perfect stay! About 10 minute drive to the beach not bad at all. The owner was super nice! All in all this was a great stay and we would go back again!

Always the best!

Another year spent here and already planning to go back. It's so quiet and has enough room for all of us. Thanks, Jim, for the goat milking lesson.

Sweet House in Fish Haven, ID

  • 5 of 5

Our family (grandparents, kids and grandkids) so enjoyed our stay in this sweet house with hollyhocks blooming all around. The kids loved the fresh outdoors and the farm animals. They even caught a fish in the backyard stream. It was lovely and the beds are so comfy. Loved the kitchen to prepare breakfast and to pack picnics. Great to also have a washer/dryer too. My grandaughter keeps asking if we can someday go back to the "little house with flowers and animals"! Jim was the perfect host and we enjoyed the entire experience. Raspberry shakes in town are a must!

Roomy house with lovely decor

  • 4 of 5

Lovely 4 bdrm home with comfortable queen beds. Beach access 10 minute drive with $10 charge. Nice kitchen but cooking utensils a bit sparse. Convenience store just a short walk which was very handy.

The area is full of activity so much that it's impossible to do everything in one trip. Yet it's also very quiet, rural and pristine. We live in the corner of the tri-state region (Utah, Idaho & Wyoming. We are the gateway to other areas such as Jackson Hole, Yellow Stone, the Grand Tetons, Salt Lake City, and the Great Salt Lake. We are one hour from Olympic skiing (2002 Winter Olympics). We are surrounded by year round winter and summer activities at many of the ski resorts. Our cottage is located on a small gentleman's farm with a beautiful fishing stream running though it and into the lake. We enjoy the countless activities on the lake and beaches year round as well activities such as fall farmers market, Raspberry days, Rodeo, Demolition Derby, Heritage Days, marathons, youth dances, bowling, go-carting, volleyball tournaments, free fishing (on certain days), annual salmon barbecue, Bear Lake car show, Butch Cassidy days, Truck pulls, Beaver Mountain Music Festival, Parade of Homes, Bear Lake Rendezvous (Native American displays dancing and Mountain Man activities), triathlons, snowmobiling, skiing, hiking, caving, sports and water rentals, star gazing at the marina, fireworks on the 4th of July (Independence day) and also July 24 (Pioneer day).
