Fern Hill Lodge-Luxury Log Retreat on 25 acres in Willamette Valley Wine Country

Bedrooms 6
Space 5,300 sq ft
Property type lodge
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

5,300 sq. ft., 6 bedroom, 4 bath log home on 25 acres with fishing pond & views

Fern Hill Lodge is perfect for family gatherings and retreats. However, parking is limited to only 12 or 13 cars so events over 30 are not feasible. We are not set up for weddings or large parties. We are in a neighborhood and need to respect the peace and quiet of our neighbors.

The themed rooms, rustic decor, gourmet kitchen and theater room offer something for everyone. There are 3 levels with beds for up to 24 people. For relaxation, take a quick walk down to the dock at the one acre fishing pond and catch bass, blue gill and crappie (be sure to release them, too!). Or take a stroll through the seven acre forest on the other side of the fishing pond. The trees will refresh your spirit and energize your body. It's also relaxing to watch the goldfish swimming around in the smaller pond in front of the house.

Or you might like to watch the sunrise on the 700 square foot covered slate deck along the southeast side of the house overlooking the fishing pond. In the evenings you can build a fire and roast marshmallows in the fire pit or experience a movie in the theater room that will seat 18. Be sure to bring your favorite flicks!

Bedrooms: the Master Suite has 2 queen beds, walk-in closet, access to the deck outside and 46 inch flat screen TV with satellite service that can swivel to be viewed from the jetted tub. We call the big walk-in slate shower 'the Cave.' You'll love the massaging effect the smooth river rock floor has on your feet. The room has a heated slate floor and double granite vanity with raised copper sinks and waterfall faucets.

The Parlor bedroom is also on the main floor. It is the feminine counterpoint to the rest of the house with quilts, needlework & frillery. It has a king bed and uses the main floor guest bath with tub/shower combo, heated slate floor and raised copper sink with waterfall faucet.

The Loft sports a full size Murphy bed, game table, reading nook with sofa, games, air hockey and foosball.

Through the Loft is the Nest, a large room with two sets of XL twin beds usable as 4 twins or 2 kings. It also has a couch and flat-screen TV with satellite and Wii game console. There are some games available but feel free to bring your own. Lots of board games, playing cards, coloring books, puzzles, dice, etc.

Downstairs is the Fishing Room with a king bed and its own private bath with granite vanity and tub/shower combo. It has an outside door leading to the covered patio for early morning coffee.

Also downstairs are the Hunting and Cowboy rooms. The Hunting Room has a king bed and also opens out onto the patio. The Cowboy Room has a queen bed and a set of log bunk beds. It does not open to the outside, perfect for children. These two rooms share a bath with granite vanity and tub/shower combo.

The theater room seats 14 in genuine theater chairs and another 4 on small couches. With its 10 foot screen, Blu-ray/DVD player, VHS player, satellite TV, HDMI hook-up for computers and 7.1 surround sound, it's the perfect setup for movie watching or presentations. Complete with popcorn machine & wet bar area with refrigerator and microwave. Sleeps 4 on two foldout full-size couches.

The gourmet kitchen includes a six-burner Capital gas range with oven, an electric wall oven, warming drawer, dishwasher, TWO refrigerators, Advantium microwave oven, Kuerig coffee maker (bring your K-cups) plus 2 regular coffee makers and a 40 cup coffee urn, cherry cabinets, granite counters, two copper farmhouse sinks, handmade copper hood, pantry, dishes and glassware for 30, two electric griddles, two waffle irons, a rice cooker and a full array of cooking utensils and small appliances.

You'll never want to leave the Great Room with its 25' ceiling, huge log trestle, rustic decor, comfortable leather couches with built-in recliners, and 60 inch flat screen Smart TV with satellite service and Blu-ray player. The room has three levels of lighting: ambient ceiling lights for TV viewing, fan lights for socializing, and reading lamps for, well, for reading. It also has a massive real river rock gas fireplace for chilly evenings.

The garage is equipped for exercising with treadmill and weight machine. A ping pong table makes for fun tournaments! Frisbees, hula hoops, bocci ball, corn holey, croquet and horseshoe equipment also available.

Fern Hill Lodge is bound to become your favorite destination for family gatherings and church and company retreats. You will surely enjoy Oregon's country atmosphere!

About Polly McCrea Foster

Polly McCrea Foster operates Fern Hill Lodge with much help from her husband Don and family members.

Polly McCrea Foster purchased this lodge in 2008

Why Polly McCrea Foster chose Monmouth

In 1994 Polly & Jerry, Polly's late husband, started searching for property away from the hustle & bustle of the big city of Portland. Their search kept widening until they came upon 160 acres nestled in the hills between Dallas & Monmouth. It was exactly what they had been searching for. Through the years they have sold many 5 acre home sites and created the friendly community of Fern Hill. You might meet some of them walking down the road or out for a stroll down to the fishing pond which is shared with all the neighbors. Polly & Jerry, their friends and family, personally planted most of the 22,000 trees on the property. In addition to these 'younger' trees are numerous majestic 300+ year old oaks.

What makes this lodge unique

Mini resort on 25 acres, fishing pond with kayak, canoe and rowboat, serene goldfish pond, forest, 6 bedrooms plus loft, 4 baths, 18 seat theater room with 10' screen and 3 other TV's all with satellite, board games, puzzles, foosball, air hockey, Wii, ping pong, corn holey, frisbees, weight machine, treadmill, outdoor deck & patios, BBQ, fire pit (when fire Dept allows), library, DVD's.

We had a houseful of family ranging from 1 to 81! There was plenty of space to spread out and things to do. The theatre room was a hit with everyone! I LOVED the porch swing!!!

The house was well appointed with everything we needed!

The property was wonderful as well. Some went boating and fishing and others just relaxed. We even had time in between wedding activities at a nearby vineyard to have an Easter egg hunt for the kids before we left!!

Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. We’d love to come back!

The property is gorgeous inside and out! The kitchen items are well appointed. We had 4 families staying and ages 4-65+ and everyone loved it. There is plenty of room to spread out but the dining room table and living room had enough seating for when we wanted to all come together.
