About Peggy Petrey

We are both full-time artist living in the Southside Historical Neighborhood of Chattanooga, just blocks away from the Mitchell House. In 2007 we chose Chattanooga as our new home-base after having searched for property from San Diego to Asheville.

We fell in love with Chattanooga and it's central location. Once we heard of the redevelopment plans for the Southside area into an arts district we knew we had to move here. We purchased a metal industrial building on Main Street and created a wonderful artist live/work space. The space is perfect for us and allows is the room we need to create and flourish.

Peggy Petrey purchased this townhome in 2009

Why Peggy Petrey chose Southside Historic District

Initially we bought the home for our parents, however they only needed the downstairs unit. Since the property is located downtown where all the festivals, sports activities, art events and tourist attractions happen, it made total sense to open the upstairs for others to enjoy a home-like setting while visiting Chattanooga. The house is in a diverse neighborhood that has undergone many changes in the last ten years.

Our neighbors are all friends and welcoming to all. If you sit on the porch for a few moments don't be surprised if one of the neighbors introduce themselves to you, we're a friendly bunch.

What makes this townhome unique

We love staying in vacation rentals when we travel. Often times we the amenities are minimal and we find ourselves wishing we had a tv, the internet or a few board games to play. We wanted to provide a space that has everything you will need, making your stay that much more enjoyable. You'll find that we've tried to think of everything that you might need in case you decide to stay inside on a rainy day and if we haven't thought of everything we are open to suggestions!

Perfect for exploring Chattanooga

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do this rental justice. It is fabulous! It's both historic and modern at the same time while being spacious, quiet and comfortable. The location can't be beat and the parking spots are a great way to beat the hassles of street parking. Peggy was wonderful to work with every step of the way. We had everything we needed and loved the little extras like soaps, cocoa, pitchers of water in the fridge and more. My husband says it's his favorite rental we have ever stayed in, and we will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: What a nice review, thank you! Our goal is for our place to be comfortable and clean so you can rest after a day of play. To know you experienced that makes me really happy. You took such great care of our place and left it so clean! We hope to host you again soon.

So cute and close to everything

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our three kids and had a blast! It was perfect for my 18-mo old baby since they had a gate for the stairs and a pack-n-play. We will be back!

Great House Near Town

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a girl's trip to Chattanooga. The house was conveniently located near lots of restaurants and the free bus to downtown Chattanooga. Peggy was great with providing us with a list of great places to eat. The house was equipped with everything we needed. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was well stocked. We loved the place. Thanks Peggy! We hope to be back soon!

Cool place with restaurants, bars and shuttle within walking distance

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this adorable duplex. Beds were comfortable and it was decorated so nicely. Peggy was so nice and answered any questions quickly. It is within walking distance to many bars and restaurants as well as the shuttle at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. Also great shopping is within walking distance at Warehouse Row. There are steps up to the main living area, but there is a gate should small children be staying there. I would definitely recommend this place.

A very nice stay for two couples in a perfect walkable location

  • 5 of 5

We had plenty of room and everything we needed in this really nice duplex! It is furnished with care with the visitor in mind, with plenty of places to put your belongings and small touches that anticipate your needs. There were coffee pods available for the Keurig and there were Mini Moos in the refrigerator -- a big plus for me! The interesting art was a bonus. This duplex is close to everything. If you choose to cook, there is plenty of cookware and every utensil you might need. If you choose to eat out, the choice of restaurants is excellent. The hosts provided a great list of walkable restaurants. Everything worked well and the accommodations were very clean. Highly recommended for a comfortable stay in an amazing, upcoming small city. We hope to return someday.

Great property and great location

  • 5 of 5

This property is in a great location. Just a block away from Main Street that has all kinds of locally owned restaurants and shops. It is 3 blocks away from the Chattanooga Choo Choo and the free downtown trolley service. You could tell that the owners wanted you to enjoy your stay.... From the ample supply of towels, to the DVD collection, to the pamphlets about local attractions, to restaurant recommendations. In regards to restaurants, we highly recommend Bluegrass Grill (breakfast & lunch only), Feed Co. Table, and The Hot Chocolatier for something sweet. Our 20-something kids enjoyed the Frothy Monkey for breakfast. The Bleu Fox Cheese Shop is a unique little shop that has all kinds of cheeses and also does sandwiches. For something unique, visit the Flying Squirrel. (All of these within walking distance). We did all the "touristy stuff", but always enjoyed coming "home" to relax. Everywhere we went, everyone was so nice and helpful. Parking is directly behind the home, so you never had to worry about where you would park.
