Disjointed, dilapidated space but in a good location and good value for the money.

  • 3 of 5

This review is for the carriage house in the back. The property was well situated and definitely a value for the money, but the space was cramped and there was no living / lounging space at all, just a few wooden chairs in the kitchen. Bathrooms were dirty and the water pressure in the upstairs bath was difficult to shower with. Sheets seemed clean; towels smelled slightly and bath mats were disgusting. The house needed a deep scrub.

Owner's Response: The listing says there is NO LIVING ROOM and the rooms ARE SMALL. A floor plan shows all the room layouts. Most of the furniture is antique wood and most people like that about my house. The house keeper did have emergency surgery so I do apologize about the bath mats if they were missed, but ALL the towels and linens are clean. I have a plumber on staff so I wish this guest had let me know of any problems when I could have done something about it. The plumbing works well. The price does reflect the quirky & quaint nature of this rental.

Awesome for family gatherings

  • 5 of 5

We rented both the cottage and main house on this property. Plenty of space for 14 adults. Areas to watch tv, play games and eat. Well supplied with paper products and towels. Perfect for walking to street car. Uber was only $8 to French quarter (Canal and Bourbon). Lisa was helpful with getting info for WiFi access. Prompt refund of damage deposit. Everyone was impressed!

Mardi Gras weekend

  • 4 of 5

The house was excellent and more than enough for our two families that stayed for the weekend. There are a few things that we left on the dry erase "Suggestion" board.

* The Kitchen Chairs are extremely fragile and unable to use because that are falling apart.

* The front porch chairs are trashed and unable to use

* Perhaps leave a list of nearby dining establishments in acceptable parts of town for those not familiar with the city.

* The neighbors are horrible with constant fighting, swearing and generally speaking scary. (nothing you can do about that, but they are horrible)

Overall, the stay was fantastic and the house was great. Thank You very much.

Owner's Response: Mardi Gras is a nutty time some of the chairs on the porch and in the kitchen got damaged by the guest. NO big deal. Things happen but I do have a suggestion board because I want to when things break so I can fix them immediately. I do have a welcome folder but I guess they did not find it on the kitchen counter. The scary neighbors were staying in the VRBO next door for Mardi Gras and have left. Phew. I am glad everyone had a fantastic and safe Mardi Gras!

Great location and host

  • 5 of 5

Really great location between St Charles St and Magazine St in the Garden district. Plenty of bars and restaurants just a few blocks away, and a Walgreens for essentials. The streetcar was an easy and inexpensive way to get to the French Quarter. Nice, quaint courtyard to hang out in. We didn't spend a lot of the time in the house while we were here, but it had everything we needed and Lisa is a great host.

Good Place to Stay

  • 4 of 5

This place was great for my friends and I to stay at for a long weekend in New Orleans. It's enough space to give you a place to hang out, but with any more than 6 people, it would probably be a little tight. Overall, we enjoyed it and would definitely look at this place again if we ever come back to NOLA.

We celebrated our mom/ grandma’s 85th birthday in NOLA! Great trip, great memories!

  • 5 of 5

Our mom/ grandma’s request was to have all of us together rather than scattered in hotel rooms. We chose these two homes on the same property because of the number of private bedrooms available for our group of 15 adults. The house was great for our 4 night getaway and the owner was easy to work with. While we rented one car and ubered to other areas of town frequently, the location was excellent for nearby walks to St Charles and Magazine streets as well as Lafayette cemetery #1. We appreciated being in this beautiful neighborhood away from the buzz/ noise of the French Quarter or downtown. The homes are spacious and have that true NOLA historical vibe. Nice open front/ dining/ kitchen area for us to all hang out. Our family celebrates together frequently, but we all agreed this one of our favorite trips. The homes were a major factor.
