Nestled on 44 acres of rolling hills, open prairies and hardwood forests, Prevailing Winds Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy privacy and peace. Whether you come to relax and unwind in the cozy guest rooms or explore the miles of on-site trails, your stay will leave you wanting more. From the moment you ascend the tree lined driveway, you will be transported to back-country Colorado by the whispering pines and full log lodge. Just 30 minutes outside of Madison, the lodge is located in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin and has views of the beautiful Blue Mound State Park and Brigham County Park.

WEDDINGS: Serenity, nature, privacy and peace are just a few things you'll experience on your wedding day at the lodge. Let the beautiful surroundings sweep you and your partner away as you begin your life together as one. The lodge offers the most intimate of settings for small weddings and breathtaking vistas from high atop our prairie for large weddings (up to 250 guests). The lodge does not have any restrictions on the vendors of your choice, but does offer packages for certain amenities and referrals for local merchants and suppliers. Please contact us for more details about the many options the lodge provides for your special day.

Built in 1996, the lodge offers an unparalleled experience in guest comfort, relaxation areas and outdoor activities. Attention to detail was the mantra of the craftsman who forged the lodge to include reclaimed wood countertops, a local barn wood mantle, coins integrated in the hardwood floors which mirror the American Club Resort in Kohler, a handcrafted moose and elk antler chandelier, a Michael Feeney carved dragon and full chinking between every log.

Inside the lodge you will be enamored by the soaring great room which features a 30-foot field stone fireplace, handmade Craftsman-style cabinetry, a 1904 Indian Girl canoe hanging overhead, a 9 foot reclaimed Russian Oak dining table and attractive antiques. Outside the lodge you will be rejuvenated by the fresh air and peaceful privacy of over 40 acres.

About Jennifer Wann

Growing up in a major city out west (Phoenix, AZ), I never expected to find such an amazing property in such a secluded location. We stumbled on this property while living and working just north of Madison. Supported by my son (Wyatt), daughter (Anna) and husband (Steve), I have been able to fulfill a childhood dream in this breathtaking log home.

Jennifer Wann purchased this lodge in 2010

Why Jennifer Wann chose Blue Mounds

From the first moment we stepped foot on this property we just knew that we had to be a part of it. Every time we come up the driveway the whole world melts away and an inner peace falls over us.

Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

As someone who has coordinated several long-weekend events for large groups, this property was probably the easiest I have ever dealt with. They were highly accommodating and professional while still maintaining a hands-off approach to our weekend getaway.

Pulling up to the property, the house and grounds were very well kept. There was a binder with everything we needed to know for our stay, and the owners were always just a call/text away. I was very impressed with the amenities and this property's ability to host and entertain us over the long weekend.

Relaxing, cozy lodge that's close to the city

  • 5 of 5

We had a women's weekend at Prevailing Winds and it was wonderful! The atmosphere of the lodge is so comforting and relaxing - pictures don't do it justice. It's very spacious - leaving plenty of room for 14 women to move about and use the kitchen at the same time if needed. I highly recommend the lodge for family gatherings, women's weekend, and even a small wedding party would really enjoy the relaxing time they would have here. The kitchen is fully stocked, there are more than enough blankets, pillows, linens, airbeds, whatever! You really don't have to worry about anything. The owners have made this lodge perfect for a comfy, relaxing getaway. I highly recommend!

Gorgeous house and space!

  • 5 of 5

The house is as advertised-Beauty on the inside: spacious, adequate rooms for lounging, sleeping, and cooking. And beauty on the outside: fire pits, hikes, privacy, etc. The group of 13 people I was with really enjoyed our stay. I'd highly recommend it, and Steve was consistently in touch and helpful.

Amazing weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 11 women rented Prevailing Winds for a bachelorette weekend getaway. From the get go, Jen and Steve were extremely helpful throughout the booking process; they always replied extremely quickly to all my questions. Upon arrival, a binder was waiting on the kitchen counter with detailed instructions for everything in the house: TV, fireplace, where extra linens could be found, etc. The property is even more beautiful in person than in the photos! All kitchen drawers were labeled which we found extremely helpful! Steve also gave me his cell phone number and made a point to check in with me via text message throughout the weekend to make sure we had everything we needed. It was so great to know that any questions we had would be answered in a timely manner. The house is absolutely stunning and the customer service from Jen and Steve could not be better, would recommend this lodge to family and friends in a heartbeat!!!

Incredible getaway weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Prevailing Winds Lodge for another winter weekend vacation. The vintage decor is very charming. Every time we visit we notice new details about the antique furnishings. We had a great time playing board games by the enormous wood burning fireplace. Each room has a great view of the breathtaking scenery. You are surrounded by woods and feel as though you are in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. Our kids woke up early each morning to watch the deer, rabbits, and other wildlife. Our days were spent sledding on the hills and hiking through the forest and prairie. Jen and Steve were more than accommodating and quickly responded to any questions we had. This was a memorable vacation and we are so grateful we were able to spend quality family time at the lodge. If you're looking for outdoor fun or just relaxing in a cozy back country setting, Prevailing Winds Lodge is the perfect destination.
