The Hudson River House is a spacious residence with majestic views of the Hudson River. Our setting is extremely private, quiet, and peaceful.
The entire house has been renovated and modernized with an emphasis on bright and sunny rooms that offer spectacular views of the river. The kitchen has been completely modernized with a large open wall that allows 'the chef' to prepare food but also socialize with guests in the dining room while they enjoy the huge picture window displaying the beautiful river with all it’s fascinating boats, wildlife, and water sports, even hot air balloons.
You will be within walking distance to the famous Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa where you can enjoy their spa services and eat at Henry's farm-to-table restaurant, The's an historic revived 1803 Train station, plus Mountains, hiking, biking, wineries, antiquing, horseback riding and more.
Sit back and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, birdwatch, have cocktails on the deck, watch the boats go by, wake up early and see a spectacular sunrise directly over the river, or fall asleep to a full moon reflecting into the river.
Other than the scenic Hudson River, apple orchids, beautiful flowering trees and bushes surround the property making each season exciting and colorful.
There are 4 spacious bedrooms, 2 baths and 2600 square feet of living space. Four bedrooms, three which overlook the Hudson, and one the orchids. On the main floor, we have an outdoor deck plus an old fashioned porch both overlooking the River. Inside there is a new kitchen with top of the line stainless-steel appliances, custom woodwork and new granite counters. The bathroom downstairs has been totally renovated with unique modern tiling and fixtures. The living and dining rooms are very spacious and nicely detailed with beautiful furnishings,and polished oak floors and.
The house has central a/c and oil heating.
There is a deck overlooking the river that you enter from the kitchen with and umbrella, patio furniture, and grill. There is also an old fashioned porch with hanging wisteria, & deck chairs that also overlooks the river
Milton is a charming little town on the Hudson River in the Hudson Valley. It is home to several wineries, orchards and farms where you will find fresh eggs, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, produce and 'U Pick orchards in season - apples, pears, cherries, peaches, grapes, berries and even pumpkins and Christmas trees and picturesque wineries just minutes away, plus ample shopping and dining, and much more.

Day trips: Only 90 minutes from Manhattan, Milton is 10 minutes from Amtrak and MetroNorth in Poughkeepsie and is perfectly situated near New Paltz, Gardiner, Woodstock, Saugerties, Rhinebeck and Millbrook.
History of 'The Hudson Valley': It is one of the most historic places in the USA. The area is famous for being the first wine-producing region in the country, while bountiful farms have been here for centuries. The scenery is so remarkable it inspired the first arts movement in the U.S, the Hudson River School. These 1800's artists/naturalists-on-canvas would not be surprised to learn that 20th century residents were crusaders in saving the Hudson Valley landscape at Storm King Mountain where the Mountain where the country's environmental movement was born.
Ramble over forts from the Revolutionary War, and see where Washington lived for most of it. The area was so strategic for defense, America's first military academy, West Point, was established here in1802. 100 years later, Great Estates were built by the Vanderbilts, Roosevelts and Rockefellers.

Have dinner or snack at the Grand Central station, (which feels like is a small city within NYC.) and then take the train home.

While pets are not allowed, we can refer an excellent "pet and play" pet sitting daytime and overnight services so your pets can travel with you & be nearby. Service and therapy pets are accommodated.
The River House is a non smoking facility and no lit candles please. (we have very realistic- battery-operated candles in each room.)
Sleeping tents are not allowed on the grounds.
