Located on a quiet street in Vienna’s most multicultural district, the apartment is perfect for those looking for a unique place to stay in an interesting, diverse, up-and-coming neighborhood, removed from the typical downtown tourist areas.

Not to suggest that the apartment is in the middle of nowhere: it is only a 20-minute walk to the Schönbrunn Palace; a 3-Minute walk to the underground U3 subway station, bus, tram & taxi stand; a 10-15-Minute Subway ride to all major attractions and historical sites in the heart of the city, as well as in the thriving, fashionable 7th district (St. Stephan’s Cathedral, Vienna State Opera House, Ringstrasse, Mariahilferstrasse, Spittelberg, Museumsquartier); and a 5-Minute subway ride to the Westbahnof train station with regional / international train and airport bus connections.

About Monika Makowicka

I (the owner) am an American-born, Harvard-educated architect. I grew up in New York City, and have been living and working in Vienna for over 20 years. My firm, which I founded with 2 Austrian partners, specializes in building luxury penthouse apartments in Vienna.

Why Monika Makowicka chose Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus

As an architect and part-time developer, I fell in love with Vienna because of its fantastic architecture, culture, and urban amenities. I personally and specifically hand-picked this property (at that time, an empty attic space) in Vienna’s 15th district, which is Vienna's most multicultural neighborhood, and reminds me of the diverse ethnic areas of New York City where I grew up during my youth. The area is quickly being developed, but at the same time maintains an authentic feel not found in other touristic parts of the city. The street is very safe, and the neighbors are friendly. Also, the excellent public transportation connections (subway, tram), which are just a 2-minute walk away, make it an ideal place to reside.

What makes this apartment unique

My tenant, the beautiful and friendly Monika, rents, manages and administrates the apartment and lives next door on the same level with her young son, Adrian, in the adjacent penthouse loft. She is a native of Vienna, and will take great care of you. And I'm quite sure you'll enjoy relaxing on the spacious outdoor terrace spaces after a long day exploring this beautiful city!

Lovely apartment

We really enjoyed staying at the apartment. It was clean, well equiped and very convenient for catching the underground or tram into central Vienna. It was also very close to a great local market and shopping centre.

We would recommend this for anyone thinking of coming to Vienna on holiday.

Clean Open Space

Located a 5 minute walk from the underground makes it easy to get to central core. Area is multicultural in nature but felt very safe for walking even at night. Modern open apartment with nice deck (although we did not use because of the snow...) Close to bakery and ethnic restaurants, walk to Schoenbrunn Palace and Museum of Technology.

Superb!

You may as well stop browsing other apartments in Vienna. This is the one to reserve for the solo traveller (like me) or a couple. An astonishing space at the top floor of a wonderful building. A comfy bed in a room that can be sealed off and a good size living room distinguish the flat. Plus a bathroom that's positively colossal by European standards (with washer/dryer) and it's a done deal. And from the top deck, seeing the Gloriette at Schönbrünn is icing on the Sachertorte. Much obliged to Monika (extremely kind and accommodating, BTW) for making this wonderful spot in a cool neighborhood available.

Was not a perfect stay because I don,t like take subway not even bus and this apartment is not in the center and I spend to much money in taxis, but if you don,t have any problem with the public transportation is ok

In response to your review, I would like to mention that using Vienna’s very safe, clean, and efficient public transportation system is an essential part of being able to explore the city, as it is in most European cities. I told you already before you booked our Apartment that the nearest subway (3 minutes away) takes you from the apartment to the middle of Vienna at Stephansplatz within 10 minutes. I was also offering you the cable car. With your arrival it took me almost one hour to describe you all different possibities! I was sending you links also with detailed discriptions. So I am wondering that you not using the cable car instead of Taxis. There are also possibilities for renting a car. Also, there are many interesting and popular sites to see and experience very close to the apartment, including the famous Schönbrunn Palace, which is a 15-20 minute walk away. Of course, if someone wants to stay at a comparable penthouse apartment in the central 1st district, he or she should expect to pay at least double the price (and I believe the majority of our guests will attest to the high quality of the apartment itself, as well as to the large terraces with their unique views of the city. Enjoy the bustling market hall around the corner (“Meislmarkt”), selling fresh foods, fruits and vegetables from all over Europe, as well as the myriad of ethnic restaurants nearby with an eastern European and Turkish flair.

Stroll over to the “Schmelz” Park and visit the old-fashioned beer garden (Schutzhaus) where the locals go in the summer for a Schnitzel and a pint-sized “Krügel”. Walk 20 minutes down to the Schönbrunn Palace where the Habsburgs maintained their summer residence, and visit the great zoo with the kids while you’re there.

Walk 2 minutes to the subway or jump on the tram and take a 10-minute ride into the thriving, fashionable 7th district with its galleries, quirky shops and bohemian restaurants and bars.

Additonal unregistered guests (i.e. those that have not been made known to the manager/owner at the time of booking) are not permitted without prior approval of the manager/owner.

The apartment is to be used exclusively for residential purposes. Parties, business meetings, photo/film shootings, etc. without prior approval are prohibited.

The guest may cancel free of charge up to 60 days before arrival. The guest will be charged 50% of the total price if they cancel within 60 days and up to 30 days of his/her arrival.

Manager's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
