About Shelley Hancock

We are the Hancocks and we own two Giant Steps units as a family. We are originally from Ogden, UT. Brent and Diane currently split time between Mesquite, NV and Ogden, UT. Troy and Shelley and all their kids live in Gilbert, AZ. Curt and Marilyn and their kids live in Ogden, UT.

Shelley Hancock purchased this condo in 2013

Why Shelley Hancock chose Brian Head

We wanted to find a central meeting place where we could come together as a family. After having our first full family vacation in Brian Head 3 years ago, we loved it so much that we came back up a month later to find a place we could own. During our first visit, we stayed further up the mountain in a beautiful home, but wanted to have something closer to the ski hill. We love our ski in ski out condos!!

For us, Brian Head is about coming together as a family and having fun in what we consider to be some of the most beautiful country anywhere.

What makes this condo unique

When we bought our units, they were both old and outdated, but we knew that we could make them our own. We tore everything out, all the way down to the studs.

We believe that we are able to offer finest properties in Giant Steps for an amazing rate. We believe you will agree.

Wonderful weekend getaway

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. Very nice updates throughout and well stocked kitchen. Loved the fireplace and the fact they provided wood for you. We had plenty of bedding and blankets. Only 2 issues-1 a grill was listed as on site so we planned a grilling meal only to discover there was no grill, just may want to take that off the list of amenities or get a grill. And 2- while Wi-Fi isn't the most important thing in the world and I enjoyed not having much access to the internet, it was advertised as having its one wifi but it was pretty spotty. Again, I didn't mind so much but it was advertised. We'd definitely stay here again, in fact, my teenager asked if we could go there every fall break. 😃

Owner's Response: We are sorry for any confusion related to accessing the grill. We thought we had properly described access to and use of the grill in the "Welcome Letter" we send prior to arrival detailing complex amenities as well as other helpful information. We will make it more clear that there is a grill outside of the clubhouse that is accessible to all guests. Our unit is located right down the hall from the club house. This unit is equipped with it's own dedicated modem and wireless router provided by Century Link (It is sitting on the kitchen counter). It has the highest data transmission rate available from Century Link in the area which is rated at 7 mb/s. The internet is definitely not overwhelmingly fast, but can support streaming movies (on a limited number of devices at one time) as well as provide adequate access to most internet activities. We do find that the modem/router has to be reset occasionally due to disruptions from Century Link in the area. This is easily done by unplugging and plugging the power supply back into the modem. We have previously had Century Link change the modem/router out due to our own concerns and were informed at the time that there are limitations on their side to support data requirements in the area. I believe it is related to not having high speed cables in the area. We have found these issues to only be slightly inconvenient on occasion. Sorry that this was so disruptive to your stay in this beautiful mountain location.

Cozy and luxury, but Internet is bad

  • 4 of 5

It is cozy for a family vacation. Lots of good quality towels, bed sheets, blankets, hand soaps, body soaps, kitchenware, paper towels. The beds are soft.

There's nothing to complain, but the Internet doesn't work at most of the time. And it seems it's been months(?) vacancy, furniture covered by dust.

Owner's Response: So sorry about the dust. Lesson Learned on our end. We have asked our cleaning group to always review and spot clean the property prior to the arrival of any guests. Great location and excellent owner

  • 5 of 5

Convenient to the slopes. Well appointed. Great communication from the owner, Shelley. Stocked with everything one could want. Bed in the master is not the most comfortable but otherwise a wonderful unit.

It Was As Advertised

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable and well appointed condo in a nice building with access to an awesome oversized spa. The kitchen was nicely stock with gadgets and necessities. There were plenty of towels, soap and supplies. The lack of an elevator in the building is a bit of a hassle, in that using the dumbwaiter is awkward, clumsy and just wrong however. Not much the owners can do about that. Having the place well located and well appointed is certainly important, as there is no nightlife in Brian Head and one will be spending a lot of time in one's rental unit. A bit overpriced for the late season rental and the building was less than 20% occupied. For that reason alone I would recommend searching carefully the competition.
