Brought a group of students from Texas for the Passion conference- this home was beautiful, clean, spacious, and super comfortable. Owners were friendly, responsive and accommodating. Would highly recommend to any group or retreat!

Beautiful with some drawbacks!

  • 3 of 5

We had a group of 30 ladies who gathered here for a weekend retreat (they advertise it sleeps 40 but that would mean everyone sharing a bed so 30 was pushing it for non-family members). Upon arrival, we were really thrilled to be in such a large space with the beauty of the lake right behind us. And for the most part, it worked for us. However, there were some things, had we known about them in advance, would have possibly deterred us from using the property. The main issue was that in that huge property, there was no room large enough for all of us to gather together comfortably. We were there for a retreat, where the "whole group" met together 5 times. We squeezed into the kitchen/living room but it was really tight and not comfortable in the least. It worked and we had a great time, but it was an unexpected negative (there is room in the garage that could have worked but it had no heating...kind of a rec room, but with little seating). We were also shocked at the condition of the main living room couch...full of tears and worn out. In a property of this caliber, you would expect a decent sofa, and again, much more seating. The kitchen was functional but also, a lot of the provided utensils, cookware, etc. were old and needing replacement..and there were few kitchen towels, too few garbage bags (they tell you they expect you to only use 5 for an entire weekend for 30 people, really?).

We were thrilled to have so many beds to spread out the ladies...and most were nice and comfy. However, the towels were very limited and some were in bad shape. Again, we expected to find higher quality and more availability. And the downstairs, which has 8 bunk beds (great bunk beds!) has only one that meant some needed to use bathrooms on another floor. Again, not a huge deal, but noteworthy.

We had a great weekend despite the drawbacks. I think this house is gorgeous and in the warm weather, would offer so much to do and even outside seating that would have accommodated us well. It's hard to find homes for this size of a group, and I wouldn't be amiss to use it again (just knowing what we're dealing with helps), but I do think they could do some things to make it an even better experience.

Excellent place!!

  • 5 of 5

This home was simply amazing! When my husband and I walked in the front door to see the stunning two story staircase and see the view from the Billard room or the massive deck and gorgeous view of the lake. No matter which bedroom you were looking from you could see the lake. As we walked along the path to the lake you could see and hear the birds and the wind in the trees. While fixing our dinner in the gourmet kitchen and eating it in the oversized dining room! I would gladly stay here again! It was a wonderfully gorgeous home and great time. Weather you need space for 2 or 40 this home is spacious enough for everyone! We were not able to get out on the lake but the gazebo/boat dock was very nice and spacious. This home didn't feel like a rental, it was well taken care of, very clean with plenty of towels and bedding. I would rent this home again.

Best rental ever! A home away from home.

  • 4 of 5

Our party of 23 rented this property which included the caretaker's house in the package. Everyone was amazed at how the main house didn't feel like a rental house but rather like visiting the home of a friend. It was well appointed. Nice having the pool table right off the main hallway as a few of the folks did make some use of it - didn't have to trek downstairs to a basement as most houses have it. The kitchen was spacious enough for several cooks at once to use it. The kitchen utensils and pans are just adequate. The pan were worn no-stick which we didn't care for, so I brought several cooking utensils from home as we were the closest attendees. There was some minor problems with the plumbing, but it may have been due to the heavy rains. There were plenty of towels and bedding supplied. The location was fantastic as we were just a mile or two away from a well-stocked grocery store. One attendee was in a wheel chair, but by going in through the back door, we didn't have to lift the chair up and down the steps. There was wi-fi but be warned it is really slow when 10-12 people get on it at once. We were all thankful it is a pet-free home, as no one had to worry about pet allergies kicking up. It was handy to have a second fridge and stove in the guest house as we ended up making use of both. The caretaker's cottage also has fridge and stove and microwave, but we didn't use those. It was just sleeping quarters for three of us. We saw deer and wild turkeys on the property from time to time during our week there. It was such a lovely, rural, peaceful setting with a great view of the lake. Being December, we didn't make use of the lake except as a view. We are hoping to use this facility again next time. We have rented a house for such get togethers many times, but this is the first time the general consensus was let's come back here! Thanks for such a lovely home away from home.
