Overview

About the property

Two Bedroom, Two Bath Canyon Road Adobe Two Blocks To Restaurants And Gallerie

Now air-conditioned. Authentic and unique, the former home of an artist with a two-story hand-plastered fireplace, Mexican tiles, art work painted on the upstairs bedroom walls and on one bathroom floor. Drink wine on the upstairs deck to view mountains, stars, and the sunset. Eat in the full sized kitchen or on the back patio under a grape arbor. Furnished with Western motif, sleep on the new queen-sized futon in the downstairs bedroom, which can be closed off by sliding oak doors and has its own private bath. Or use this space for reading or watching television.

The upstairs bedroom's queen bed provides hotel quality with 700 thread Egyptian cotton sheets and has its own adjoining bathroom. The living room's skylights give you light and a chance to watch the stars or a winter snow fall while sitting in front of the fire. All ceilings have vigas and latillos and the baths feature beautiful Mexican tiles.

Nestled up a drive, we provide the convenience of this historic road without the noise and traffic. Two off-road parking places.

High Season occurs during Christmas and summer and Santa Fe really comes to life, with many people coming from around the world. Summer brings the Santa Fe Opera, Chamber Music Festival, Folk Art Market, Spanish Market and Indian Market. Santa Fe is “high desert” although there are Aspens and a National Forest with skiing only 30 minutes away. Thus, the temperature is moderate during summer, generally with highs in the 70’s and 80’s during the day, cooling off at night, particularly cool by mid-August when a sweater may be advisable. The air is always fresh and clear with sunshine along with an occasional rain in the late summer. There can be double rainbows seen during July into September with clouds often building up over the Sangre De Christo mountains and passing across the city and surrounding landscape. The fall offers golden aspens, hikes, and a world-class hot air balloon festival in Albuquerque.

Christmas, enjoy the exquisite, famous Canyon Road walk when the galleries light up the street with farolitas (candles in paper bags) and Christmas lights. Holiday music can be heard from the near-by Cathedral and the carolers.

Unique because it's an authentic adobe with beautiful tilework and so convenient to the best of Canyon Road. Feel like an artist, staying here.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed for 10 days in June and George's charming adobe home located right in town. Everything was as described...clean, spacious, fresh linens and with a booklet full of information about the area.

We went off on several days trips exploring different towns and hiking.

June is an ideal person to exchange with...trust was built quickly as she responded to my e-mails promptly providing details and going out of her way to make our stay a good one.

I recommend her place highly!

Great location, charming home.

  • 5 of 5

This was my second time staying here and did not disappoint. It has a great location and terrific rustic charm - an old fashioned adobe that is kept in pristine condition. Everything was neat and tidy. The dishes and utensils all seem brand new. We enjoyed walking along Canyon Road. Getting into the Plaza area is as quick as can be. The owners are very attentive and provide great information and follow up, without being intrusive. Highly recommended. And I will be back again!

Unique, interesting, and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

A surprising home with unusual and unique features. The adobe construction is authentic and the southwest motif is fun. We found the home comfortable and it was conveniently located to the art district (walking) and the plaza shopping (short drive or long walk). Easy access to bike routes and the fun Santa Fe riding.

The outside rooftop patio was enjoyable and comfortable in the morning before the sun gets hot. The outside garden level patio was also enjoyable and comfortable especially later in the day when it is hot outside since it is protected from the sun at that time.

The parking spaces are dedicated to the home so no issue finding parking; however the driveway is very tight and a full size vehicle is difficult to maneuver into and out of the parking spaces.

Overall I highly recommend this home.

Great location on Canyon Road

  • 4 of 5

Two couples stayed here for 3 nights in mid April. The location was wonderful - easy to walk through the galleries on Canyon Road. Cozy space and plenty of room for the four of us. The living room was a pleasant space but seating was a bit tight and the furniture was not super comfy so we tended to hang out in the kitchen. Roof deck was lovely. George was very responsive to our needs.

cool historic house in great location

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful place to stay - great location, easy walk to the plaza past all the galleries on Canyon Road or along the river. Very comfortable house - we enjoyed the spacious kitchen and large dining table, the charming living room with all the skylights, the ground level patio and the rooftop deck off the master bath. Quirky and charming!

Thanksgiving in Santa Fe

  • 5 of 5

This space worked really well for us. We were able to walk to the Plaza, do hiking in the nearby area, and cook a great Thanksgiving meal. We really appreciated the opportunity to make a fire in the evenings so that we could sit around and chat with one another.

Great place great location

  • 5 of 5

The artist home is super unique with a ton more space than we had expected. Both beds are comfortable and the rooftop deck is great for coffee in the morning or late night star gazing.

The location is just at the end of the main part of Canyon road. So if you're looking for something off the plaza but still close to the galleries this is a great location - quiet yet easy to get to. Also it's a 3 min walk to The Teahouse for breakfast or El Farol for drinks and dinner and 12 min walk to the plaza.

June and George were very helpful and responsive to our questions and needs. Instructions were clear and the experience beat out expectations.
