We anticipated enjoying boating on the lake but were surprised by how we also have enjoyed WINTER! We were able to clear off a little snow on the lake and soon we had an ICE SKATING rink. The kids (and adults) loved to skate. We were also able to enjoy riding bikes on the lake. Ice fishing is next! The great thing is when anyone was cold or tired they can be inside in just a minute. With the amazing views from the windows, those inside could also enjoy watching all the fun.

Everyone who has been to the house is stunned by the amazing views from our family area windows. When you are sitting on the sectional looking out the window it visually looks like you are on the water!

It is so rare in Utah to discover a property on a lake, with a dock!!! We have fallen in love with Yuba Lake! Most of time we literally have the lake to ourselves!! We enjoy boating-especially surfing and tubing. How great to be able to enjoy the lake, pull up to your dock, go inside your Lake House for lunch and back onto the lake. A change in the weather? No problem. Enjoy the Lake House till the weather improves. (again Yuba Lake is a reservoir and so lake levels fluctuate dramatically. There can be times when the dock/lake are not available at the house)

The amphitheater and fire pit make for memorable evenings.

We were also surprised by how many birds fly by! We enjoy watching them but apparently, our property is some of the best bird hunting areas in the region.

YUBA STATE PARK and Recreation Area, conveniently located in central Utah, offers a variety of recreation opportunities. Warm summer water temperatures, sandy beaches, nearby off-highway vehicle areas, and fishing for walleye, trout and yellow perch attract visitors year-round.

At an elevation of 5,100 feet, Yuba Recreation Area is an hour and a half south of Salt Lake City. When full, the reservoir measures 22 miles long with a maximum depth of 80 feet. Yuba Reservoir is the largest of many water impoundments on the Sevier River with a capacity of 250,000 acre-feet of water.

Utah State Parks and Recreation and

the USDI Bureau of Land Management cooperatively manage this recreation area.

A host of water-related activities await visitors. Warm water temperatures during summer make the reservoir extremely popular for boating, waterskiing, personal watercraft, windsurfing, sailing, and swimming. Two boat ramps, one at Yuba State Park and another at Painted Rocks, provide access for all types of watercraft. The reservoir is a year-round fishery for walleye, perch, catfish, rainbow trout, and northern pike. Other activities include camping, picnicking, rock hounding, hiking, bird watching, interpretive and junior ranger programs, mountain biking, waterfowl hunting in season, and off-highway vehicle riding nearby.

Local wildlife include: mule deer, cottontail rabbits, jack rabbits, coyotes, bald and golden eagles, red-tailed hawks, ravens, California seagulls, pelicans, great horned owls, western grebes, several species of duck, and Canada geese.

The ARAPEEN OFF-HIGHWAY TRAIL is nearby. The 350-mile Arapeen Off-Highway Vehicle Trail System is a gem of recreational riding opportunities; it includes Skyline Drive and trails branching from it.

Some routes are passable only by ATVs; others can be traveled in a high-clearance four-wheel drive automobile. All ATV trails are also open to hikers, bikers, and horseback riders.

'The Arapeen is a great family trail with some advanced sections,' says Fred Christensen, a leader in Central Utah ATV groups. 'It is a more alpine environment with thicker trees and more lakes than the Piute Trail further south. When you get up on the Skyline, you can see both sides of the mountain, it's a fabulous view.'

SANPETE COUNTY is located in the very heart of the state.

The County offers a wide variety of recreational and outdoor activities.

Skyline Drive, for example, which runs along the eastern border, is one of the state's more beautiful scenic drives.

It rises up from the rest area in Spanish Fork Canyon and runs, following it to its end, to I-70, with a slight jaunt near the top of Fairview Canyon.

The drive is 87 miles long, with most of it within the county. It is a relatively flat section of road, mostly dirt, but the fact that most of it is located above the 10,000-foot elevations means it offers some spectacular views — east into the depths of the Manti-La Sal National Forest and west into agricultural communities such as Fairview, Mt. Pleasant, Spring City, Ephraim and Manti.

The fact that the road up Fairview Canyon is maintained over the winter means it opens up a huge list of recreational opportunities, ranging from fishing to snowmobiling to camping to mountain biking.

The Manti-La Sal National Forest holds some of the state's largest elk and deer herds. Officials estimate there are more than 15,000 elk. And, about the same time the leaves begin to turn, the bull elk begin to bugle, signaling the start of the fall mating ritual.

Because Skyline Drive sits on the Wasatch Plateau, at the very top of the mountain, and gets an abundance of snow, it is slowly being recognized as one of the state's best snowmobiling areas.

The Division of Parks and Recreation grooms about 80 miles of access trails to the plateau out of Ephraim and Manti. This is also a great area for cross country skiing.

In the summer the mountains remain, but the snow is gone so backcountry roads are open to vehicles, ATVs and bike riders.

And who would ever believe that near the center of the county is an area of steep, rugged cliffs that is drawing rock climbers from all over the country.

Maple Canyon, located west of Moroni, offers climbers more than 80 established routes.

Within the canyon are miles of near-continuous vertical cliffs located near the main road. The cliffs are a conglomerate rock, which resembles a cobblestone surface, which offers lots of hand and foot holds to make climbing challenging and fun. In more recent years, the canyon has become popular with ice climbers.
