The 3471 -square -foot home with 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths occupies a 90'x150' foot property , backing on to the first hole of the beautiful Eaglecrest Golf Club in the Eaglecrest district of quaint Qualicum Beach, BC, Canada. This lovely , treed and well manicured golf course serves as a visual and actual extension of your back yard. The south-facing, relaxing rear patio allows sunshine to be enjoyed year-round. A special gas barbeque and serving area has been built. Privacy, tranquility. Evenings throughout the year become special when you find yourself soaking with friends under star-lit skies – favorite beverage in hand, in the 6-person Jacuzzi spa . Located across the street from one of Canada's most beautiful sand beaches helps pass the busy days and allow your dreams and imagination to flourish. And views from the front of the home include a professionally designed entry yard with the Strait of Georgia and Coastal Mountains serving as a background to the 2-million-dollar landscaped corridor leading to the Beach in the new Bluffs development.

In the impressive entrance foyer, a soaring glass roof naturally illuminates the warm tones of bold, exposed wooden beams that form the roofing support structure. The 16 -foot -ceiling allows light to reflect and deflect to the lower walls and floor. This indirect lighting complements the foyer’s stunning centrepiece: a deeply patterned, multi-hued slab of Brazilian granite hand- set into the maple hardwood floors.

You will probably notice other elements not always found in better executive homes, such as 8” baseboard moldings, 6” ceiling cove moldings throughout, custom maple floor- heating inset covers , a $30,000 surround sound – with speakers over the patio and hot tub, and home theatre system, including 2 wall-mounted flat-screen TV's, custom -designed fireplaces in the Great Room and Master Bedroom, designer wool broadloom in 3 bedrooms on the South Wing, cooling ceiling fans in 4 bedrooms, 2 way -tilt Low E German-made windows which don't require maintenance. The storage closets are ample, with 10-foot shelving and custom over-height doors.

Throughout the home you will find an interesting control of natural light through the use of glass- panelled hallway doors with beautifully etched designs, and clear glass transoms over the door frames. This combination of natural and artificial lighting, carefully chosen earth tones on the walls and judicious placement of mirrors allows the owners to display an extensive collection of original oil paintings, prints, wall sculptures and other unique artwork. The owners are in the Interior Design Trade and have paid particular attention to the many details which make this vacation home so special and unique.

The open plan Great Room, which combines a dining area, gourmet kitchen, bar and family room overlooks a large back patio and the golf course beyond. A dramatic glass sheet chandelier over the round dining room table bears glass flowers by Seattle artist Susan Guterman, reminiscent of Dale Chihuly’s fabulous glass ceiling in the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.

For the chef in the family the open concept gourmet kitchen is a central focus of the house. The space features built-in dual -stacked wall ovens, a side-by-side freezer-fridge, a 2- drawer dishwasher and a microwave oven by Kitchen Aid. There is ample storage in cupboards and drawers (with soft push closers) that surround the appliances, as well as in a big pantry behind etched-glass doors and glass-fronted display cabinets above the cupboards. The glass cabinets also have polished half-inch thick glass shelving . The custom kitchen cabinets soar all the way to the 10-foot ceilings . Elegant double maple ceiling moldings and numerous halogen spot lights help complete the décor.

The kitchen also features a wine cooler under the wide granite counter, top-of-the-line five- burner Gaggenau gas cooktop. The kitchen sink and faucet are German-made GROHE.

Bedrooms and offices lie in two separate wings on each side of the Great Room. The south wing holds a guest suite with its own three-piece ensuite, and two additional bedrooms, with separate walk-in closets that share a four piece ensuite. The guest suite hosts a modern steam shower, as well as a separate glassed entry door leading to a private sitting area , catching the morning sun. All the bathrooms utilize the latest wall-mounted water-conserving dual-flush toilets and hand bidets, while a powder room in the hallway connecting the two wings boasts what must be the ultimate experience in personal hygiene, a Toto Washlet. The south guest wing is completely self-contained, with its own furnace to provide in-floor heating, and its own stacking washer and dryer.

In the north wing, the master bedroom boasts an open floor plan which extends into the spectacular master ensuite, with its pedestal soaker-tub and a custom etched-glass shower stall. There is a custom gas fireplace as well as private small office . The massive, humidity-controlled walk-in closet offers rows of closets and cupboards to the ceilings- fronted with ribbed glass. It also incorporates an impressive double floor-to-ceiling shoe rack for the lady's extensive shoe collection. This master bedroom , self-contained wing also has its own furnace, LG Tromm washer and steam dryer and an executive office, with its own private and sheltered entrance.

This is a beautiful home for a relaxing shorter getaway or extended stay. The Qualicum Beach area is one of quaintest places in Canada with a host of interesting places to visit . The mild Mediterranean's climate is the best in our country and it's not unusual to see the trees start to bud as early as late January. The Qualicum town center is a short and convenient drive away

and boasts many village shops , and is truly a Village in every way.Its Saturday Farmers Market is a popular attraction as well., Starry nights may prompt your romantic spirit, or you may simply want to kick back and enjoy a good book or some fine music. Whatever you choose to do and enjoy, you will probably feel special and rejuvenated when you stay in this home.

Take a fascinating drive to the famous town Coombs, the lovely village nearby with goats walking on the sod roof, or to Courtenay along the coastal drive(really pretty ), where you can buy some famous Fanny Bay oysters for an evening meal.

In the afternoon, enjoy skiboarding at sandy Qualicum Beach, or take a trip into Parksville to enjoy its wonderful restaurants and green spaces. Everywhere you look there are wonderful views and relaxing drives. If you like, play a game of golf at one of the five nearby golf courses, play mini-golf with the kids, or go horseback riding. Take an hour's drive to ski on Mount Washington's nearby slopes, or take a day trip to visit famous Long Beach at Tofino, with its impressive Pacific storms.

Why Michael Sissons chose Qualicum Beach

We just adore Vancouver Island, in particular the Qualicum Beach area, as it is very scenic, quiet and has every amenity you would want close by. Plus the mild climate is the best in Canada. The Eaglecrest area is very lovely with huge West Coast trees and a history going back to the early twentieth century. Its very serene and a great place to walk .

What makes this house unique

This property backs right on to the 1971 era Eaglecrest Golf Course across the road from the beautiful Bluffs residential development , and right across from one of the most professionally landscaped corridors in Western Canada, with a pergola and lone classic Arbutus tree and views of the famous Strait of Georgia. From April to September the many cruise ships from Vancouver and Seattle wend their way up the Inside Strait to Alaska. Its just a beautiful place to be. The golf course's first fairway is right behind us , with no barriers, so it feels like the well treed course is an extension of the backyard.

That's why we have a Jacuzzi back there , as it's so tranquil and private, and is best at night, with the lights off and the latin(or whatever we feel like) music coming out from the overhead speakers. With a nice glass of wine , and the Milky Way Galaxy glittering above against a pitch black sky , we've often thought that life doesn't get any better than this! The home has at least 5 private entrances and many people -including the contractors - thought it was a large bed and breakfast. And sometimes feels that way. There is lots of room with almost 3500 feet on one level that nobody feels crowded, and on occasion may get lost!

It's easy to get anywhere you want quickly with the Comox area and the international airport about 45 minutes away and the Nanaimo ferries about the same distance. And Victoria is 2 hours south , and Vancouver a short ferry to Horseshoe Bay.

  • The Master Suite with a king size bed is pure opulence! Each bedroom is equipped with robes and slippers for all guests. Huge and well designed award-winning and published master with a seating area of 2 leather club chairs flanking a jacobean-style chess table, marvelous fireplace, ceiling fan, sound system and hi-definition wall tv. 2 guest bedrooms are a little smaller but each have well-designed walk-in closets and a bathroom which connects them. Lo-E German made windows, and Nourison designer wall to wall wool carpeting. We also have a queen sofabed for the in-laws wing , with a 4" down/qualifill topper for your comfort and convenience. Each bedroom has a ceiling fan and all bedrooms have televisions with extensive programming.

Luxury house in Qualicum.

The first thing I noticed is how clean the house was, I am a clean freak, and the house was immaculate. After that, all of the beautiful artwork, and interior design. And after that, all of the high end appliances, and furniture. The stereo is throughout the house and in every room, and sounds really good. I rented it for the weekend for my Girlfriends 40th birthday party. We had 25 people in the house and it hosted them very nicely. There was plenty of room, and they were all impressed with the layout/build of the house. Michael and Ursula were very helpful, and answered/catered to any of my requests that I had. I would rent there again, as it was hard to go home to reality after staying in a palace like that!

Not suitable as a rental. House was dirty & stuffed full of owner's possessions! You'll clean here!

The neighbourhood & exterior are very nice. However once inside upon arrival it quickly became apparent that all you could expect were beds made & clean linens. The house is richly appointed but from a usability standpoint much is lacking.There was dirt everywhere! My wife & I spent 4 hours just cleaning the main areas & appliances on day of arrival! We immediately contacted the owner & the listed management company about the state of the house. I immediately demanded my cleaning fee to be refunded.I have yet to hear from the owner but the management co. offered to interrupt my holiday & "make things right". I declined the offer b/c that work needed to be done prior to my arrival. I was so shocked by what I found that I documented various findings, taking pictures with my phone. The drawer dishwashers were both coated with dried food, rotting vegetables in the pantry & dirty cups & dishes in the cupboards were just the beginning. Vacuuming the main areas required no fewer than 5 emptyings of the upright vacuum. Washing the floors in the master ensuite was a real eye opener yielding so much hair, dust & dirt. I had to empty/clean the filter on the clothes WASHER in order for it to function properly. There are very very few usable spaces for visitors to use to place their own possessions into. The owners have filled the house with clothes, shoes, cosmetics etc. We emptied & wiped down one closet so we could hang a few things up but had to leave our other possessions in our suitcases for our 2 week stay. I encountered what I can only describe as pills in far too many cupboards & places easily accessible by children. The LNG BBQ needs replacing or repair by a professional & some patio furniture needs repairing. One prior reviewer pointed some of these issues out & the owner responded. I didn't expect to find these pre-existing issues unresolved. Qualicum Beach is wonderful but this property is in need of work in order for it to be suitable as a rental!

Owner's Response: When we heard from these guests initially we were stunned at the numerous comments made as to the cleaniliness of our home . We have made our home available to many parties including family and friends and others over the past 4 years with impressive results and nothing but satisfied and very impressed people who enjoyed the home immensely. Upon hearing of this guests dissatisfaction with the condition of the home, though it was left in immaculate condition prior to their arrival, we offered to have our cleaning personnel come to the home right away to go over any areas the guests were dissatisfied with. The guest refused our offer . This is our home and we live here. We go to great effort to provide adequate storage for guests personal effects and have had few complaints in this regard. This home is almost 3500 square feet and surely 4 people should not have problem with finding places for their things. The guests asked for full refund of the cleaning fee immediately , and as we offered to have our cleaning crew attend their concerns right away, and they refused, we felt this an unreasonable request. If it was me I wouldn't clean anything. Especially when I was staying for 2 weeks. In regard to the natural gas barbeque we are in the process of replacing it, and did leave instructions to manually start the burners with the butane starters provided, which is what we have been doing.. There is also a second propane portable barbeque in fine working order available for guests. All one has to do is review the comments from other guests as to how impeccably clean this home is and the concerns alluded to by this guest should be answered.

Spacious, elegant home in great location for golf and beach

We loved the spaciousness and location of this home. It is well laid out, with a large kitchen, dining and entertainment area at the centre and bedrooms in two clusters off to the sides. It was great for our 3 generation family gathering.

As a vacation rental, it could be organized better for guests and some things need repair / attention. As travelers, we always hope for welcoming messages (print or in person) from the owners about local attractions, etc. The messages here seemed to focus more on keeping the hardwood floors pristine. The owners leave a lot of personal effects in some of the rooms, so despite the very large spaces there were few drawers or places to put our personal effects. The rental seems more an afterthought than a traveler-oriented business. The property also needs some repair and attention: BBQ, patio chairs, hot tub deck all need repair, as did some small kitchen appliances. The TV system was very complex and its components are locked away so it's hard to troubleshoot. We were at the house during a hot period and were told not to use a small air conditioner that was there because it might leak on the hardwood floors.

So overall, we had a great week and the house is an excellent property. It just needs a little attention.

Owner's Response: First off , Ursula and I very much appreciate the many guests who have rented our home, and appreciate any constructive comments about the property and what we can do to make it even better for future guests. With regard to the portable air conditioner in the great room, we have not left instructions with our managers for it not to be used, and we do expect it to be used, so perhaps there was a mix up in the backfield on this. Drawer space will be increased as per this guests suggestion. we are a little surprised at the comment as we have not had any concerns about this from previous guests. We do hope and trust that you had a great and relaxing vacation and look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Beautiful home and excellent location!!

We really enjoyed staying here - such a quick walk down to the ocean and an easy drive into Qualicum Beach. The home was very clean and had all the amenities we'd want or need. The owners were very easy to deal with and responded to questions very quickly when we were booking. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!!

Lavish and Great House, with blow-up matresses :)

We enjoyed our stay here, in this immaculately clean house.

Rooms were comfortable and the house was quite decadent ; however, the few quirks we noticed were that several of the rooms had blow-up beds, and one room was actually a tiny office with a cot.

The patio was lovely, and the hot tub, albeit a bit sandy, was also good, but in need of repair of lights and some of the jets.

Proximity to the beach was really nice, and we enjoyed walking the golf course as well.

Bathrooms and bedets were really something to see! Especially the automatic bedet.

Overall, I recommend this property, but rate it four stars for the lack of real matresses :)

Owner's Response: The home description lists a queensize pullout bed in the fourth bedroom and we also provide a high quality Flexsteel inflatable bed for this room , as it is more comfortable than the standard hideabed mattress. The fifth bedroom is an additional single pullout bed also correctly shown in the description for a ninth person, usually a child. The home can really only handle 8 comfortably though. We are surprised about the sand in the hot tub, as the tub was drained , cleaned and water conditioned just before the first group of guests. The lights are to be remedied , but there is a new circulation motor just installed so the jets are all working. They are controlled through small toggle switches in the Jacuzzi brand tub. The house and grounds were absolutely beautiful and we felt like we were staying in complete luxury. Beach access was very convenient as well. Our family was very comfortable and we enjoyed the house immensely!

Macmillan Cathedral Grove- ancient huge douglas firs and cedars; Qualicum Museum; Englishman River Falls;Skiing at Mount Arrowsmith; Craig Bay outdoor museum close to Parksville on the Coastal highway is real special.

It's interesting to know that , when we first moved to the area in September 2003, my wife, who is a very strong psychic, had a special feeling about the area, in particular the area fronting Craig Bay, in the cove. She actually asked me not to walk on the grasses as it was sacred ground. It turns out that this is a 4,000-year-old Indian Burial Ground, and the Province of British Columbia, Canada has designated it as an Historic Site .
