I purchased this house in 2000 as a blighted piece of property. It was the worst house in the neighborhood and everyone laughed at me when I showed it to them. It seemed only I could see the potential of this beautiful lady. With the help of award winning architect Jackie Case and her husband Mark Redding, who was the contractor, we were able to return her to her former grandeur with a modern touch. Some of the design ideas that allowed for a full size third bathroom were contributed by my late mother who is a collected folk artist. Her works are collected by the likes of Delta Burke and Neil Young among many others. Some of the art work in the house is hers. In 2004 I met the love of my life Julie. Julie is a dentist in Baton Rouge. We quickly split our time between Baton Rouge and New Orleans while starting our family. So many memorable times have been spent in this home. We truly love to entertain and welcome you to share in this beautiful home with us. I have enjoyed this home as a bachelor while running my Naturopathic business in the dining room area. As Julie and I dated we enjoyed many romantic walks to and from all the exiting sights, sounds, and tastes of the city. Mostly, we never ventured more than a 15 minute stroll from our home. ; ) We still continue to enjoy the city with our two children in tow. Julie's business and family keep us more ensconced in Baton Rouge, so we don't get in as much as we'd like to….so we are sharing our precious lady with you. If there is anything that we can offer to you that is not already provided for, please ask. New Orleans has been my home for over 20 years and continues to be one of the best places in the world for friends, family, and fun. Oh, and my friends who laughed at me for buying this bit of then blighted property, well, they are some of our most frequent guests. I hope you enjoy our little piece of paradise as much as we have.
Sam Bridges purchased this house in 2000
With the French Quarter a mere 1.1 miles away, I saw a fabulous opportunity to be able to play in the Quarter without the daily struggle of having to enter and exit the Quarter. Having lived in the Pontalba Apartments at Jackson Square I only knew too well the reality of the logistics of parking and the desire for a quiet nights sleep. Another of my loves is restoration and preservation. Care was taken to preserve as much of this homes original bones and structure while including some modern changes to make this double shotgun into a more livable family home. Additionally, I purchased two additional pieces of property that were deemed unusable right away to give this home a private gated driveway and an actual yard that the children could play in. This is unheard of in the CBD/Warehouse/French Quarter districts.
The unique benefit of this now home is it's proximity to all the fun of the French Quarter, the business of the CBD, and the shopping of the Uptown and the Garden Districts. Being a consultant that travels, the airport is conveniently a mere 20 minutes away. The added benefit of being able to be anywhere I want to be in the city in 15 minutes by foot, car, or trolly is why I chose this most unique setting.
This house was the perfect place to celebrate!! You will love it!! Thank you for the House!!
This place has character and charm. It's location is incredible. The owners are first class.
Would recommend this house to anyone traveling to New Orleans. My company produces events and we are also travel agents. We love it when we find a gem, and this house is a gem.
We had our family get together and everyone loved the experience.
If you're looking for a house in NOLA with many rooms and beds then this is you place! it's cool, functional, and just a great place to relax. It's stocked with just about anything you'd ever need from extra sheets and pillows to plenty of toiletries in case you leave something behind at home. Also the host Sam is the MAN with the plan. I've never experienced a host that was so communicative and full of tips on what's happening during our visit. Also it's pretty damn close to the quarter too. We pretty much walked everywhere. It's also a stones throw away from a great bar called the Rusty Nail (great cocktails, beer and top shelf whiskey selection.) The Warehouse District had been one of the best places to stay, you get less random people out there and it's really close to amazing restaurants like Cochon, Butcher, Peche, etc. At the end of the day, it's a great big house in a cool neighborhood with an even cooler host. Do it!
I came to NOLA with a group of 8 friends from high school and we stayed for 3 nights at this gorgeous house. Everything was great ahead of time and we were given 2 people to contact in case we needed anything. They provided us with information on the neighborhood where we were and were so easy to communicate with. Once we arrived the house was super clean and exactly what we needed. The beds were comfortable and it was really nice to have 3 bathrooms with 8 women! The neighborhood was great and we were right next to a bar (but surprisingly didn't hear noise coming from it at all) and so we had a nice go to for drinks but also were within walking distance of really great restaurants and the WW2 museum. There was also a little grocery store around the corner for basic snacks and drinks. We loved our stay here and highly recommend it. Thanks for everything!
Our family had an event at the convention center for the weekend. I was initially worried about the house not being big enough to hold all 8 of us. But it did with plenty of extra room! The house was beautiful and had a ton of character. It was also within easy walking distance to fun activities. We will definitely book this house again next time we come to New Orleans!
Our group of seven was very pleased with this property. Though others had stayed in VRBO/B&B spots, this was my first experience. Wow. The host and property manager were unbelievably helpful and accommodating. They kept in touch from the time of the reservation until we arrived and while we were there Sam checked in regularly to make sure everything was going well. Two of our group arrived a day early--no problem! Mrs. Pat met them so they could drop off their luggage before the rest of us arrived. Our departure was delayed due to the icy weather the area was experiencing--no problem! Sam instantly let us know we would be welcome to stay longer, until we could safely travel, and checked in with us even after our departure to be sure we arrived home safely. He provided loads of helpful neighborhood information and tourist ideas. The house notebook is packed with ideas for restaurants, museums, the local grocery store, bars, etc.
Everyone felt they had a great amount of space. The beds were super comfortable. Loads of hotel-type amenities, including razors and makeup removers in addition to the usual shampoo, conditioner, etc. Loads of sheets and towels. Loads of hot water. Everything was immaculate. We felt it was far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be restful but close enough to walk to lots of things easily, including the WWII museum, the French Quarter, etc. and because of the great location (and when we were lazy) the ride service cars were easy to get and inexpensive.
Last but not least, the house is gorgeous, from the woodwork to the artwork. Very comfortable space. We were there celebrating a birthday and planned to eat and drink out exclusively, but the day we got there one of our group said, "We have to cook here--this is the kitchen of my dreams!" Very well equipped with just about everything you could want in a kitchen.
We would 1000% recommend.
The house is very nice. The kitchen and appliances are top notch, for those inclined to cook for themselves. Location couldn't be better - centrally located between the Quarter and Garden District. Easy access to the Superdome, and the WWII museum.
Truly Rare! One of only three single family homes in the Art's District!
Located in the Warehouse District of New Orlean's Central Business District. You have found the only available single historic 'shotgun' style home in the District.
Fully renovated by the owner and an award winning architect, this home offers 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths for your luxurious enjoyment.
Resurrected from blight, this unique 1860's property survived and has become one of New Orlean's favorite shotguns as featured in the Preservation Resource Center's titled book 'New Orlean's Favorite Shotguns'.
A convenient walk will find you saying 'Look, there's Emeril's, The D Day and World War II Museums, Restaurant August, Harrah's, Convention Center, River Walk, French Quarter, Superdome ' and on and on….
Our beloved and cherished home has anchored the area and even been referred to as 'The Georgetown' of the Warehouse District.
Step onto your private porch for a night of starlet gazing(Hollywood loves this off beat area), conversation, or reflection. Better yet, hit the streets and enjoy the energy of a night of entertainment visiting the equally hot and delicious famous restaurants and local watering holes.
This jewel comes with the oh so standard amenities of WiFi, two big smart TV's, cable, phone, business fax and other office accommodations.
Our home has been the host of event parties, celebrations, and those seeking to explore NOLA both for business and pleasure.
Easily accessed, private gated entrance just minutes from Louis Armstrong International airport and literally a few blocks from the Amtrack, our home offers a unique private setting unheard of in most metropolitan areas.
