About this property

Mas des Oliviers - 3 Bdrm ancient farmhouse with A/C near St Remy and Avignon

Les Oliviers, is a charming three bedroom, three bath house cleverly installed in the historic stone building that once stored the grain for the mill. It is surrounded by century old olive trees, lavender, thyme rosemary and other beautiful flowering plants of Provence. The living area, kitchen and dining area open to the center courtyard where you also have a beautiful view of the brilliantly colored Bignone (climbing from the rock garden up the ancient stone wall to the forest) and a bank of lavender and rosemary.

This house is decorated in Provencal style with high-quality fabrics, furniture, and antiques. It is simple, rustic yet elegant and keeps the décor of Provence alive without overcrowding with too many small objects.

The living space is airy, cozy with plenty of light. There are exposed beamed ceilings, stone walls and a large old stone chimney typical of a Provencal mas. Large French windows and glass doors create a sunny and cheerful ambiance. A nice dining area adjoins this living space and provides a nice view of the central garden. In the living area, there is also a large screen television with English channels, stereo (mp3 and USB connection) and DVD player. You can enjoy relaxing in this comfortable salon with two large sofas and upholstered chairs.
Convenient to the living space is your own private terrace with teak furniture, parasol, lounge chairs and stone barbecue. Geraniums planted all along the wall adorn this terrace in addition to the old olive trees and lavender.

Also on the ground floor there a nice size bedroom with armoire and terrace access. It includes a bath with shower (bench) and sink and a private toilet room separate from the bath, also with sink.
On the second floor reached from a beautiful stone curved staircase, there are two additional bedrooms both with high exposed beam ceilings and walls, one bedroom having retained the original stone walls. Each bedroom has plenty of light and its own private bath, sink, and toilet. All are decorated in a colorful Provencal décor.
Any bedroom can be either single or king beds so if you are traveling as couples or a family, everyone will equally have a room that is suitable for their needs.

Outstanding family retreat
Easily 5 star rating on all the expected items! The surprise was a 90 page document prepared by Gabby that details all the very best options for visiting, including navigation tips for dining, shopping, and sightseeing across Provence, (including best days to visit!) On top of it all, Guy and Gabby are a delightful couple to visit. We hope to return soon.

Wonderful Family Vacation!
We can't begin to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Moulin De La Roque! Gaby and Guy are wonderful hosts, warm and attentive, gracious and generous, always happy and helpful. We've been to this area many times, but they gave us great suggestions for places and activities we'd never done before - hiking to ruins of a fort near Buoux, attending the running of the bulls in Noves, a great marché in Coustelet, and visiting the flamingos in the Camargue. Merci! Mas des Oliviers is lovely - beautiful Provencal decor, comfortable beds, AC, a small but well equipped kitchen so we could easily cook for 6 of us and eat on the terrace most nights. (The mistral winds moved us inside a few nights, but dining table was fine too!) So peaceful, even with other guests staying in nearby homes. Plenty of gorgeous landscaping, open grassy areas, a large pool and petanque court, plus a short path up to top of their hill with great view of the countryside. We can't wait to go back again!! A bientôt!

Schöne Ferienwohnungen in traumhafter Lage

Our week in Provence
We recently stayed at Mas de Oliviers with 2 other couples for our wonderful week in Provence. The property is amazing--beautiful, historical, lush and peaceful. Our house was perfect for 3 couples to gather together and yet have your own space when needed. Gaby and Guy were phenomenal hosts and helped us out with whatever we needed. I would highly recommend this property--almost anywhere in Provence is easily accessible. Great week!

Relaxing, private, a special vacation
Our second stay at Mas des Oliviers. Again, a perfect place to rest your head after touring the Provencal landscape. The location of Moulin de la Roque is ideal for visiting all the lovely little towns and wineries in the area, lavender fields, the larger cities like Avignon, but is equally wonderful to just stay on property. Our "Mas" was just as great as it was the first time we came. Always clean, a well stocked kitchen, plenty of towels, etc. And it is not just the amenities! Guy and Gaby have made Moulin a home away from home. You meet other guests and have a great connection just having experienced all that Moulin de la Roque has to offer. The listing of the property is as it says and the pictures are exactly what you get. The customer service is beyond exceptional with recommendations for restaurants, things to see, and even a tour of the historical mill. We visited St. Remy, Avignon, Gordes, Nimes, Orange, Pont du Gard, Arles, Isle sur la Sorgue, Menerbes, Bonnieux, Cassis, Aix en Provence, just to name a few. If you plan your day well, you can see so many things and come back to Moulin de la Rogue for a refreshing swim and then dinner. I cannot say enough about Moulin de la Roque and how much we enjoyed our time there. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

About the host

Hosted by Guy Fallon and Gaby Janney

Host profile image
We are Guy and Gaby, your hosts at Moulin de la Roque in Noves Provence France.

Guy came from Belgium over 22 years ago searching for an estate in France where he could relax, engage in some agriculture and enjoy the Provencal lifestyle and mild weather. He found such a place in the Moulin de la Roque.

A historic old flour mill (dating back as far a the 1500s), located in the countryside, near a small village but not far from Saint Remy and Avignon. It was nestled up to a mountain and rock cliff and surrounded by a lovely river. There were fields of orchards and a small vineyard and a grand chateau.

The only problem was that most of it was in ruins. He had no idea what he would do with it, however, being an engineer by education and an architect at heart, he had no hesitation to begin a renovation of the property which continues even today.

Guy met Gabrielle (Gaby), an American, 14 years ago when she came as a guest to the Moulin with some artists to paint. Air France had lost her luggage for over 10 days. At that time she spoke little French so he, of course, helped her to retrieve it. Thanks to Air France, she has never left.! Some say she is still there waiting for her luggage to arrive.

Guy and Gaby are passionate about their mill and their Provence and love sharing both with their guests. When you arrive you are their guests when you leave, you leave as their friends.

They delight in sharing their secret discoveries of Provence and get pleasure in watching their guests make and share their own discoveries.

Gaby loves to paint and often has art workshops at the mill. Guy is an avid hiker and would love to give you all his advice and discoveries of the quaint and hidden Provence wilderness.

Gaby who loves the villages and markets, cooking, décor, and shopping can give you expert advice if that is your passion.

You will feel at home in Provence at the Moulin de la Roque with Guy and Gaby as your hosts.

Why they chose this property

I came from Belgium 25 years ago searching for an estate in France where I could relax, engage in some agriculture and enjoy the Provencal lifestyle and mild weather. I found such a place in the Moulin de la Roque. A historic old flour mill (dating back as far a the 1500s), located in the countryside, near a small village but not far from Saint Remy and Avignon. I met Gaby, an American 15 years ago when she came as a guest on my estate with other artists. Air France had lost her luggage for over 10 days. At that time she spoke little French so I helped her to retrieve it. Thanks to Air France, she is still here!

Along with Gaby, we have created 9 villas or a little 'Provencal village. Each year we continue to restore and create this little village paradise for our guests. People from around the world visit the Moulin each year and are surprised by its beauty, quality, and attention to detail. Some of our best compliments are 'it's so beautiful, even better than the internet site!'

We enjoy being your hosts and treat you as if you are a guest in our home. We are there to provide you with advice on the area, reservations for restaurants, help if you are sick or lost or any other support you may need. You arrive as guests and you leave as friends. The little piece of paradise was created with you in mind.

We are passionate about our estate, Provence and about you, our guests.
Gaby loves to paint, the markets, cuisine and the charming villages. I am an avid hiker and together we would love to give you our knowledge of the area and our advice.
