Hidden Creek Cabin 2 Bedroom Cabin. Right On Creek Walk to Trails & Nat'l Forest

Bedrooms 2
Space 134 m²
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

This is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin located right on the creek.

Please read the entire description (we've had guests not read this description and have incorrect expectations... we have the faults listed (no place is perfect)... but you have to read this the description to know what they are):

Hidden Creek Cabin is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin that sits right on the creek. One bedroom has a king-size bed and the other has a queen size bed. The bedroom with the queen-size bed has a door that opens up onto the screen porch out front. We allow 8 people to stay but there are beds for 6 (there is a full-size futon in the common area of the cabin). There is also a screen porch out back that overlooks the creek. From the screen porch, you can access a stone patio which also overlooks the creek and has a small fire pit for campfires. There is a stone fireplace, NOT usable at this time, in the living room and a full kitchen (smaller size stove/oven though). Pets are welcome but do require a fee of $55 per pet. This is a one time fee per pet... not per night.

This is a real cabin in the mountains built long ago. Therefore it will not feel like new construction (since it isn't new construction), but then again, that is what gives the cabin its charm because it is unique and older. The cabin is on the top of the mountain bordering the George Washington National Forest. The forest contains all sorts of wildlife and deer can even be seen at times walking through the yard. Because this is a real cabin, there are things you should expect to find in an older real cabin such as spider webs (we clean them for every guest but they do reappear quickly), ladybugs, critters, ants, insects, and stink bug during certain times of the year.

Quiet hours are from 9 pm to 9 am. Check in 4 pm until 10 pm. Checkout 11 am, or earlier. Early check-ins, before 4, or Late check-ins, after 10 pm, and late check-outs, after 11 am, require a $20 per hour fee. Please ask in advance about late check-ins.

No smoking in the cabin. No beer pong or Hookahs.

Guests are required to sign a rental agreement upon arrival and a photo ID. For this reason, the person who makes the reservation has to be the there at the time of check-in, unless the contract is signed and arrangements are made for someone else to check-in in advance.

All pet fee(s), early/late check-in or late check-out, firewood or extra person fees are not refundable once paid.

Failure to show up/check in or contact owner before midnight of day of arrival will result in cancellation. Host reserves the right to rebook property if guest does NOT contact owner. There will be a charge of $30 an hour for guests arriving more than 30 minutes later than the arrival time that they give us on the day of arrival. Arrival times must be sent in the message thread upon booking.

Illegal drugs will not permitted on our properties under any circumstances. Smoking is not permitted inside any house or cabin or on any screen porch. There will be a $750 charge for any smoking in either of these areas. Illegal drugs being used anywhere on the property will result in a $750 charge. Kegs and hookahs are not permitted anywhere on property under any circumstances. There will be a $500 charge should either of these items (kegs or hookahs) be found on the property (this includes outside areas too). If smoking (inside or on screen porches), illegal drugs (meaning what is illegal in Virginia), keg(s), hookah(s) or fireworks (there is a $500 fine for having fireworks or for shooting firearms at a property) are found on the property the guest will be asked to leave and there will be no refund whatsoever for any portion of the stay (including any future days/nights). Guests failing to check-out by 11 am agree to pay $50 an hour for a late check-out beginning at 11:01 am. If the guest is still there at 12:00 noon then then the charge is another $50 and so on with each additional hour the guest overstays their reservation. Late check-outs require prior written permission and applicable late check-out fees to be paid.

Owners are not responsible to mail or hold on to left items.

No check-ins or checkouts on Thanksgiving or Christmas Day. Owners only have the right to cancel a reservation without refund for reservations made to check in or out on these days. If owners allow the booking, a charge of $100 will be charged to check-in.

About Katie & Steven Robert Jones

Katie & I personally own every cabin that we manage. We or an employee check-in all of our guests personally (sometimes even as late as 2 or 3 in the morning, with prior approval). When you arrive, the lights will be on and you will be welcomed and shown around the cabin, unlike most other rentals where you access a lock box and walk into a dark cold house. This is all we do 24/7 and we want all of our guests to have an amazing stay. We would be honored if you would allow us the opportunity to serve you.

We came to Virginia from Texas so I (Steven) could finish my college degree, but got into the vacation rental business by accident. :) We have 5 children all under the age of 7. We have 6 rescue dogs, 6 rescue cats, 4 ponies, 21 goats & about 50 chickens.

Katie & Steven Robert Jones purchased this cabin in 2015

Lovely cabin in a lovely setting

  • 5 of 5

We had such a relaxing and enjoyable stay. In fact, we stayed an extra day. Very accommodating hosts and a perfect getaway. Lovely is the word that describes it all and continues to come to mind as I remember our time there.

Great location and cabin.

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lot of time in the Shannondoah Valley and this cabin was the perfect place to come back to. Peaceful and yet close to all we needed and enjoyed. Great service from owners as well. Highly recommend this cabin.

Peaceful house by the creek

  • 4 of 5

This house was just what my husband and I were looking for - an easy to access escape to the woods from the summer heat in the city! Being only about 2 hours away from DC and 20 minutes from Harrisonburg made the location really easy to access, and yet the quiet drive and old trees made it feel like we were in a little mountain community miles away from anything else. This house has two amazing screened in porches (one in front and one in the back overlooking the babbling creek). The rocking chairs, ceiling fans, and protection from the bugs made it easy to sit out there all day long! My nephews loved playing along the creek and I enjoyed listening to it at night. The inside of the cabin was much more spacious than I was anticipating and was full of charming character.

The only reason I didn't rate this cabin 5 stars was because the reservation and pre-check-in process seemed rather lengthy and involved for just a quick weekend rental (although I understand that many may rent this space for longer periods). Limitations of the HomeAway site meant that I owed additional money on top of what was quoted (although that was clearly spelled out in the description). I use sites like HomeAway and AirBnB for the ease of searching and renting a space - so the extra steps figuring out a second way to pay the remaining balance was less than ideal. Also, despite paying ahead of time for 6 people, there were only 3 towels in the cabin when we arrived. We had brought extra just in case, so it wasn't a big deal... but could have been frustrating had we been less prepared.

North Carolina

Such a cute cabin with an outstanding deck overlooking the creek outback.

  • 5 of 5

Great all around experience. We had a really nice time here. This is such a cute cabin with an outstanding deck overlooking the creek outback. The area was very scenic, quiet and restful. The owners were super responsive and helpful throughout our stay. The cabin was clean and well stocked. Our dog loved playing in the creek. Can't wait to come back in warmer weather with our grandkids so they can play in the creek. We plan to stay again maybe as soon as this summer.
