About the property

Small Dunes, Lake View and Hard Sandy Beach Shoreline

Four Season Home 2 Bed 2 bath, cedar sided ranch with great fireplace, full updated kitchen with dishwasher, 3.5 acres, 2 car attached garage, small dunes and 195 feet of Lake Michigan shoreline. Free Wifi too!

The house is located one of the most rustic roads in Door County, South Lake Michigan Drive. It is a 1.5 car wide lane that meanders along the lakeshore for a couple miles, the speed limit along our stretch is 15 mph. Very, very low traffic road, either someone really wants to drive down this road or they have a place here. It is not part of the tourist trail.

The house is 40 feet away from our expansive sand beach, (across the small rustic lane) the total sandy area is approximately 1 acre. The lakeshore is sugar sand and the lake bottom is hard sand, gradual depth, great for kids, and pets too!

It is located at the northern end of a sandy bay that totals just over a mile. At the south end is a rocky point, at the north end is the Sturgeon Bay light house and the Door County Land Trust Preserve, 400+ acres of forest, dunes and walking trails.

Our lakefront is perfect for kayaks, windsurfing, swimming, sailing, SUPing, boogie boarding. Very easy to launch any 'quiet' water activities.

To the rear of the house is about 2 acres of pines, birch and cedars that you can explore. Beyond our land is hundreds of acres of privately owned, but undeveloped land. This area is teeming with wildlife. It is very common to see deer or fox walking down the beach or South Lake Michigan Drive.

The house is an extremely well built ranch, circa 1960. There are two generous sized bedrooms and plenty of closet space. The Bedroom #1 is 16x14, with huge closets, dresser and Queen size bed. The Bedroom #2 is 12x10, with a small dresser, huge closets and two Twin beds. The living room leather couch pulls out to a Queen bed and is very comfortable.

The full kitchen is updated and well equipped to prepare any meals to be served in the separate dining area which seats 6.

The basement is full and unfinished but here you will find a pool table and the second bathroom. In addition, we've added a brand new full-sized washer and dryer.

The attached garage is available for you to use. Back in your fishing boat, keep your bikes dry and easily pack/unpack your car. You will find our Kayak and Stand Up Paddle board in the garage - free for you to use.

Door County, the 'Cape Cod of the Midwest', receives about 2 million visitors every year. Our location is away from the 'tourist trail' however, makes a good home base to easily explore Door County by car.

We are 10 minutes from Sturgeon Bay shops, restaurants and water front. There are many boat launch facilities and many transient options within minutes. Also, we are in the middle of one of the best fisheries in the world. Salmon, small-mouth bass, walleye, perch and even northern - there is always a fishing option within a few minutes by boat.

Please note, we have a new rental located in Egg Harbor, Boyer Log Cabin! www.BoyerLogCabin.com please visit us there as well!!

About Becky

About Mike and Becky

When thinking about this write up for VRBO we were surprised that our Door County story started almost 30 years ago. We first visited Door County to see about repairs for an outboard motor for an old Boston Whaler. (long story) During the brief visit we were amazed by the harbor towns, coastlines and rural open spaces. I remember saying “I thought this was only on the east coast”. Every Door County town has its own special charm and unique attractions and best of all, everything is so close that you can have a great Door County experience over a long weekend. However, there really is so much to do, without feeling rushed, we recommend at least a week stay every year for the next 30 years to fully appreciate Door County.

Our honeymoon was a 14-day trip around Lake Michigan on the same old Boston Whaler (motor repaired) our plan was to visit all the highly touted harbor towns on the Michigan side and then cross Lake Michigan, which I don’t recommend doing this in a 21-foot boat, spending the second half of our trip exploring Door County. That was only our second time in Door County, but our experience confirmed that Door County was a very special place; we found Door County exceptional. Numerous historic harbor towns in close proximity, 300 miles of varied shoreline of rock, bluff and sand, thousands of acres of State and County Parks on Lake Michigan (and Green Bay) and an iconic rural landscape.

After years of visiting Door County, we were lucky enough to find a small house in a unique location of Sturgeon Bay and have been renting Boyer Beach House to vacationers for over 4 years . We have found this experience to be very positive and fulfilling by being a small part in helping people enjoy DC. We had such a positive experience that we decided to find another exceptional home in a unique location of Door County on 40-acres in Egg Harbor. Our new rental is The Boyer Log Cabin (www.BoyerLogCabin.com) please visit! It's exceptional!

Why Becky chose Sturgeon Bay

Boyer Beach House is located in Sturgeon Bay on Lake Michigan, the quiet side. The walks along our quiet sandy beach while viewing the lighthouse or sitting around our bon fire on the beach while watching the stars and boats come in after a long day of fishing is exceptional. Nothing beats it, please read our reviews by our guests and you will understand what a lovely spot we have to share with you.

What makes this house unique

Boyer Beach House is a year-around home, wonderful wood burning fireplace inside, 2 bed, 2 full baths. Minutes from Sturgeon Bay but located on 3.5 acres on Lake Michigan. The house is 40 feet away from our expansive sand beach, (across the small rustic lane) the total sandy area is approximately 1 acre. The lakeshore is sugar sand and the lake bottom is hard sand, gradual depth, great for kids, and pets too! Come get away from it all.

Wonderful weekend!!

  • 5 of 5

This house in Door County is so cute. The layout is great. Being able to park in the garage was a nice bonus. The kids loved the basement. They spent hours playing pool and ping pong. Loved having the very nice washer and dryer. The property is beautiful and the beach is gorgeous! Door County is so breath taking and the house is near many great parks! We especially loved Cave Point! Walmart is very close too. We had a wonderful weekend. Becky was a wonderful hostess.

Relaxing Time Away

  • 5 of 5

We spent Thanksgiving break at Boyer Beach House and it was perfect. Extremely relaxing, quiet. The view of the lake is beautiful. We spent most evenings relaxing by the fire playing games. We all agreed it was the perfect small get away. Becky is great, she was extremely helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had.

Nice time in the Northwoods

  • 5 of 5

Awesome place to get away to any time of year. We are able to bring our little fur babies which makes it even better. So many deer right in the yard; nature walks every day. Love the sound of Lake Michigan waves. Our favorite supper club is Nightingales and we're never disappointed. This was our second visit and we will definitely come back.

Glad you came back for a second stay, we welcome you for your third whenever you are ready. Becky

Loved it

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed your lovely home! The weather wasn't very good, but still made the best of it. The location is wonderful! Wished we could have enjoyed the fire pit but too rainy, windy and cold! We went to 3 different parks and the fall colors were at their peak, so pretty! Had fires at night in the fireplace, so cozy. Great to have a garage. Nice getaway!

Owner's Response: Aren't those COLORS Wonderful!!??? Something you can't explain unless you see it. Glad they were in full swing! Sorry Mother Nature didn't cooperate with your stay, I guess you'll just have to come back during summer to have your fire pit! Although, sitting inside in front of a warm crackling fire works well too! COZY for sure!
