Muskoka Family Cottage On Crystal Clear High Lake

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,000 sq ft
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 6-8 with sunset lake view

Here is a great 3 bedroom cottage with 100 feet of shoreline, on beautiful crystal clear High Lake. This cottage is located at the end of a quiet, private road and has the natural beauty of trees built up along Muskoka rock on one side. The cottage sits just slightly elevated from the shoreline with a gradual sloping yard down to the lake. The new deck across the front of the cottage gives a great vantage point for relaxing or dining as you gaze out across the water. The western exposure provides all day sun or you can sit back under the shade of nearby trees.

For a dip into the refreshing clear waters, you can walk in from the sand bottomed shore that slopes very gently or shallow dive from the end of the long dock where the water is about 4-5 feet deep. There is a sandy beach area that is great for kids. Kids will love splashing and playing here and the hard packed sand bottom makes it a real joy for wading and swimming.

Enjoy your day on the new dock where there is plenty of room for sitting and the sun shines from late morning to sunset. High Lake is a small spring fed lake which means it tends to be a warmer lake and an ideal size for families to enjoy by canoe or pedal boat. Canoe over to the top of the waterfall flowing into Skeleton Lake or go over to the jumping rock. Climb up and jump off. There is a fire pit at the waterfront so you can sit and enjoy star gazing, campfires, marshmallow roasting and story-telling

Inside the recently updated cottage, you'll find it meticulously kept. You enter into the Muskoka room, where you can sit and relax on the leather sofa while enjoying a view of the lake through the large picture windows. Once you go through the door you will be in the spacious living and dining rooms. The living room offers plenty of comfortable seating and the dining room table seats 6-8 comfortably. There is a fully stocked clean white kitchen. One of the three bedrooms enjoys a great view out over the lake.

Whether relaxing in the living room, sitting on the dock, or just chilling out on the deck with your favourite beverage, enjoying cottage life is easy.

Why Dana chose Muskoka Lakes

We spent numerous summers at a friend's cottage on the lake. When one became available we knew that this was the perfect place to own a cottage.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Arriving at the end of the windy road is a little piece of heaven. Understated cottage on a small lake when compared to the million dollar Muskoka mansions, but that is the beauty of it, it's a real cottage. 3 cozy bedrooms, fully equipped, everything you need to just, simply, relax! 2 paddle boards, a canoe, paddleboat, life jackets of all sizes, water toys, bbq, firewood, board games, videos, books, lounge chairs, families of geese, ducks, foxes, loons, etc. etc. Bring food, towels, bathing suits and a cozy hoodie and you're all set (ok, and bug spray!) The property was clean, in order, and quiet. Highly recommend for a getaway to a real cottage in cottage country. Thanks Dana!

3 Generations of fun

  • 5 of 5

We wanted to try something new this year, so we discovered and started searching on Home Away.

Wow, were we ever surprised. Expectations were exceeded

From the spacious cottage, to the view, to the walk out to the lake.

We had 3 generations on this trip and everyone loved it. The kids loved the shallow water and paddle boat. The grandparents loved the walk-out from their room to the relaxing back deck. The parents loved the sun room for reading, enjoying a drink and staring out at the view. We went during a heat wave and enjoyed and appreciated the cool water. The dock makes it feel as if you are the only ones on the lake. It was also nice to enjoy a beverage while watching the kids swim and able to jump in and join them.

If you needed any supplies it was only a 10 min drive to Rosseau which made it very convenient. Dana was very prompt to respond to any questions that we had.

We would definitely recommend this property for anyone of any generation.

Thanks Dana.

Fantastic week on a High Lake

  • 5 of 5

Dana’s cottage was perfect for our family. The cottage itself was really well maintained and very comfortable with a good “cottagey” feel to it. Lots of space for us with a separate area overlooking the lake. We used that room for some down time - reading, games, watching movies - there is a PS2, but we brought our own system. The lake was quiet with very little motor boat traffic, making it perfect for paddle boarding or canoeing. And the water was warm relative to most other lakes - we could walk in without the cold shock. The sandy beach area was also a great feature, with some major sandcastle construction undertaken. And the large platform of the dock made it our favourite space to sit with a beverage until we’d had too much sun, at which point we moved under the trees. Overall, this was a perfect spot to relax for our vacation.

Great family cottage on small, lovely lake

  • 5 of 5

Family cottage on a lovely lake with a dock as you see it. It was very clean and had all essentials, including a washer and dryer. We enjoyed the canoe, paddle boat and the stand-up board. Has an easily accessible boat launch. Nicely equipped cottage with two TV's, videos, lifejackets, new bbq, firewood, and indoor heating if needed on cooler evenings. Owner was very accessible by email. Brought bikes but too hilly - I'd leave them at home. Close to a small store for any essentials needed. A very good experience for us - 5 adults and 3 children.

Peaceful Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We loved every minute of our week here. Our three children thoroughly enjoyed the canoe, swimming, paddle board and paddle boat. We savoured each and every relaxing moment. It was a peaceful place to arrive and we instantly stepped out of our usual busy lives and into complete relaxation. We loved the view, the quiet lake, the sounds of nature and the cozy cottage. We can't wait to come back next year! Five stars all around.

"A+" - A great find!

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed at Dana's lovely cottage on High Lake with my family during September 2017. Our whole experience was simply excellent.

The cottage is equipped with everything that you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. It was sparkling clean upon our arrival and was quite comfortable for five adults. Here are some of the many things that made our stay so tremendous.

1. The location! Perfect, albeit it was September so, in general, the lake was quiet and more serene - the lake size is perfect especially if you like to canoe or paddle. The cottage is located in a little inlet on High Lake with a group of other cottages, and Dana's place is the last cottage so it does have enough privacy, especially since there is no cottage on one side - just gorgeous Muskoka landscape!

2. Contact with the owner (Dana in this case) was easy and professional. Any question was answered quickly and thoroughly.

3. Lots to do at the cottage - many beautiful seating areas outside the cottage for a conversation, some reading, sketching, or just relaxing; an amazing dock with gorgeous Muskoka chairs; a well situated fire pit with wood supplied; a high quality BBQ for afternoon or evening cooking; games and puzzles if needed; two flat screen TV's with satellite and a gaming system (this is terrific for rainy days which we didn't have so the TV's were not used very much during our stay); a lovely canoe, a pedal boat, lots of noodles and such, and a paddle board; fishing off the dock or further in the lake; plus, the road into the cottage is long enough that you can also take a good walk if you would like to.

Lots to do around the cottage - golfing is barely fifteen minutes away at the nine hole "Diamond in the Rough" and although we golfed here, there are many other choices; the cottage is located within easy reach of Bracebridge, Port Carling, and Rosseau and not much farther to Huntsville. We took short trips into Bracebridge and Port Carling, but we were happy to be at the cottage most of the time.

I would really recommend a stay at Dana's family cottage. Adults and kids alike will enjoy it immensely. Muskoka can be an expensive place to rent a cottage, and Dana's rental is an excellent value.

One more thing, the adjoining Muskoka room is an important part of the cottage in my opinion. It offers an exquisite view of the lake, with good quality windows that also have screens so that they can be opened for a lovely breeze.

I would so - return!

Very relaxing and enjoyable two week vacation at High Lake

  • 4 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our two week vacation at this cottage. I personally thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with my two grand daughters for the two days they were there. All my extended family members enjoyed their time here as well. The cottage was quite comfortable and clean, as expected. The exterior dock was wonderful, providing a fabulous place to sit and enjoy the sun, as well as watching others play in the water. The other cottagers on this lake that we interacted with were very friendly. We utilized the canoe, peddle boat and stand up paddle board every day when weather permitted. Having these available definitely added to the enjoyment factor. We also brought our own canoe and paddles.

The cottage was comfortable, although a bit "cramped" when we had eight adults present.

The owner was always very prompt with responses to my questions, and very accommodating with some specific questions/requests. For our very first time renting a cottage, it was an extremely pleasurable experience.

Water jugs and firewood were available at the Bent River general store, about a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Groceries at the general store, as well as the amazing farmers market on Fridays, were available in Rosseau, about a 20 minute drive from the cottage. And if you want a delicious meal prepared for you, don't miss going to The Crossroads restaurant, located in Rosseau.

All in all, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable two week vacation at this cottage.
