About this property

Private waterfall cottage on 9 acres three miles to main street Hendersonville

Laurel Creek Cottage is perched above Laurel Creek nestled on nine wooded acres three miles from mainstreet Hendersonville. This 1,050 square foot cottage is surrounded by native laurels and rhododendron and is tucked in a mountain cover that was the love and pride of my Grandfather. The cottage is an extension of everything my grandparents were passionate about....undisturbed nature, privacy, and simplicity.

The 1,050 sq. foot living space is flanked by a set of french doors leading to the 350 square foot deck perfect for relaxing and dining while overlooking Laurel Creek and the forest. This spacious two bedroom, one and half bath cottage is designed to bring nature indoors and is decorated with a blend of old and new. The master bedroom features a handmade queen twig bed positioned with a panoramic view and cozy reading nook. The guest bedroom has two twin beds. A fully appointed eat in kitchen completes the cottage.

Greeting you at the top of the stairs, you'll find a fun chalkboard with perhaps a few local activities or festivals listed, a fun reading selection, board games, cards, and yes a TV with full satellite package and Wifi.

Located in the heart of Hendersonville Laurel Creek Cottage is bordered on one side by fifteen acres of wooded estate and twenty on the other. You are truly tucked away with nine acres to roam at your leisure. The antique log cabin on the property is currently not for rent and is owner occupied ( couple, mid 50's , no pets) on an occassional basis.

During the spring and fall deer like to call Laurel Creek their home along with turkey, and an occasional fox. The cove also provides endless hours of bird watching with a large variety of birds including my Grandfathers personal favorite the large pileated woodpecker.

You are three miles to the heart of downtown Historic Hendersonville, and at the backdoor of Dupont Forest with Asheville, Brevard and Saluda only a few miles away. Hendersonville is a charming small town located in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina and home to The Flat Rock Playhouse and Poet Carl Sandburg's home place where he pinned Abraham Lincoln's the Prairie Years. This beautiful area of the country provides for plenty of exploring, shopping and dining experiences. The Biltmore House, zip line adventures, kayaking, canoeing, tubing and hiking are minutes away. Just down the road between Hendersonville and Brevard is the Dupont Forest with more than 10,000 acres of forest, trails and waterfalls. Brevard known as the 'Land of Waterfalls' is a quaint small town with tremendous cultural and natural opportunities including the 500,000 acre Pisgah National Forest.

I have tried to include detailed photographs that should give you the true feel of the cottage. Thank you for your interest as we start this new adventure of sharing our slice of heaven.....

Charming and peaceful
My husband and I spent 6 nights in this 2 bedroom gem. We needed a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of our working lives. What a peaceful stay. The hosts were so welcoming and willing to help out with any questions about things to do and places to go. A board upon entry had so many pamphlets of nearby adventures. The flowing creek was heard and seen from our private deck. A cup of coffee with an amazing view is a great way to start the day. The place was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The bed was super comfy. We explored water falls and trails in the mountains. Walked Main Street and had some great food. We highly recommend a stay here. Thank you for a wonderful getaway!!

The Perfect Getaway
This beautiful cottage was the perfect place to unwind and relax after the busy holidays l! The owner has thought of every detail and also provided detailed recommendations for hiking, restaurants, and activities in the area. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were super comfy! And the deck overlooking the creek was the perfect place to relax and listen to the creek.

A Cozy Christmas in Hendersonville
Laurel Creek will always be a wonderful memory for us. From the moment we booked, Miss Royall treated US like Royals! :) Her kindness, attention to detail, STELLAR recommendations made our stay comfortable even before we opened the door. Once we did, however, the it got even better. The place is pristine, beautiful decor, gorgeous natural light and comfortable sleeps with no shortage of places to sit, relax, inside and out, and take it the mountain house view of nature: The long winding stream, mini waterfalls, tall trees, warm sun deer, turkey, hawks, and more even more deer walking through as you sit on the upper deck with your morning tea and a blanket was heaven. Peaceful, serene, private, and cozy are words to describe Laurel Creek. The sounds of the trees creeking and swaying with the rhythm of the flowing stream has such a calming effect and made for great hikes around the area. With only 7 minutes to downtown Hendersonville, it is convenient and FUN! We loved our walks in town, Casablanca Cigar Bar, and the choices of Publix, Ingles or Fresh Market for our meal prep runs. A quick 45 minutes to Asheville or Brevard, there is so much to do and see. And thanks to owners R&B's Chalkboard Checklist of great ideas and things to do and see (along with their extensive books, up to date flyers and quick responses to texts, it was a Christmas Week of peace and joy. The only bit missing was not being able to meet our lovely hosts in person (the holiday). Next time for sure! :)

Wonderful hosts and property
The property at the cabin is absolutely beautiful and the hosts were amazing. The cabin is close to downtown and hiking so you don’t have to drive far to get to everything you need. What a great stay!

Absolutely Perfect
Our stay could not have been any better. (1) Hendersonville is perfect for families. We found Asheville to be great if you don't have young children. Hendersonville is central to SO many hiking trails and there is a Children's Hands On museum that is perfect when little legs need a break. (2) The following were all suggested by our hosts (who were amazing). We visited Carl Sandburg's house and that was my almost 3 year old son's highlight. (3) Pearson Falls and Saluda were an easy trek. (4) Low High Falls in Dupont Forrest was my favorite hike. A little tough for our kiddo but we have a hiking backpack that he loves to hang out in so it worked. He kept saying 'Mama this is so beautiful." (5) We went to the NC Arboretum for their Christmas Lights and it was absolutely magical. We spent a good amount of time, almost every day, down in the creek behind our cottage. Our son absolutely LOVED IT. There's water, rocks, leaves, sticks, bugs, salamanders, literally everything an adventurous family of three, could hope for. The cottage itself was perfect as well. There's plenty of outdoor space, the kitchen was perfectly stocked, beds were very comfortable, my husband and I utilized the porch/balcony for Yahtzee after our son would go to bed. My husband wants to come back next year and do it all over again. I could go on and on but I won't. just know that if/when you chose to stay here, you won't be disappointed.
