This walk-in Garden Suite by the Sea is a self-contained, first class, fully furnished, fully appointed rental accommodation. The 900 sq. ft., two bedroom, one bathroom, ground level suite with free wifi and long-distance to US and Canada, is located across the street from the ocean walkway in scenic Sidney by the Sea, close to all amenities and a short drive to Butchart Gardens, Deep Cove, Swartz Bay, Brentwood Bay, Victoria, University Of Victoria and Camosen College.

It's possible you'll find a less expensive options and you'll certainly find many many more pricier options in Sidney. But, if you want to walk across the street to the Ocean and the seawall, seawalk and to the Town, there's none better than our Suite.

The main street ( Beacon ) in the town of Sidney is a short three blocks from our Oceanside Suite. Located on the Saanich Peninsula of Vancouver Island, in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. Sidney-by-the-Sea is a beautiful seaside town with cobble stone sidewalks, artistic statues, summer markets, street cafes', sea side walkways, etc. Other amenities include art galleries, numerous grocery stores, wine stores, pubs, library,great restaurants, book stores, recreational center, ocean water activities, and city amenities. Complete medical services are also readily available.

Victoria International Airport (YYJ), the Swartz Bay to Vancouver, Saltspring Island, Galiano Islands and the Washington State Ferry (gateway to the San Juan Islands) are just minutes away. The bustling harborside City of Victoria is less than a 15 minute drive, or safe and beautiful bus ride, away.

As the oceanside gateway to the Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands, and with all that's available on the Saanich Peninsula, Sidney offers access to myriad recreational activities including sailing, kayaking, scuba diving, whale watching, golfing, cycling, hiking and more. Our fully furnished two bedroom, one bathroom suite offers 2 separate bedrooms, and each has a queen size bed with quality linens.

Very easy access ( @5 min ) from Victoria International Airport, BC Tsawwassen/Swartz Bay Ferry, walk accross street to Washington State /Anacortes Ferry. Less than 20 minute drive from Victoria (Black Ball Ferry from Port Angeles, US).

The suite is new, fresh, bright, comfortable and professionally decorated. The new deluxe queen beds will ensure a relaxing sleep and you'll wake refreshed with a picture window view to your private garden oasis. We also just replaced the carpet in December 2015.

Get your own groceries and cook in your full kitchen facilities (includes coffee machine & milk steamer, fridge, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, small appliances, enough dishes for you and guests). Or to heck with cooking and decide to treat yourself by walking to one of the many fabulous restaurants.

The living area is so very comfy for kicking back. Cherish some alone time reading on the patio loungers, snuggle with your sweetie on the huge sofa or enjoy your favourite media in the entertainment system (Cable TV, DVD, AM/FM, CD, I Pod Dock, and library of CD's, DVD's, books and games).

Patio doors open from the living room to the private, professionally landscaped, well maintained backyard with a lovely unistone patio, year round greenery, barbecue, patio furniture, and shade umbrella. Sunny mornings, shady afternoons, you'll not want to leave! Except for your walks along the seawall and poking through the unique seaside shops.

Mary Alice had a strong visceral reaction to the Lochside ocean walkway and said ' This is it !!!' So, here we are.

The Lochside beach walkway is one of the longest, private and most beautiful stretches of oceanfront on the Island.

What makes this apartment unique

Ever been crabbing? Sidney and Sidney Pier (500 meters away ) is one of the best places to catch large red rock crabs. There are Dungeness crabs too. Just lower your crab trap off the pier, tie it off and come back in a couple of hours. Other than crabbing, the fishing in Sidney is quite decent ... you may be able to catch some good-sized soles right from the pier.

Walk across street to the oceanfront walkway. A short stroll in either direction is beach access, waterfront walkways, art galleries, bookstores, unique shops, wildlife excursions, World Class aquarium (Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre), Sidney Museum, Saanich Peninsula Community Arts Council Gallery in Tulista Park, great restaurants and more. World famous Butchart Gardens is a 10 minute drive / bus ride away. Bustling Victoria and the Inner Harbour are less than a 20 minute drive away ( or take the safe and clean BC Transit ). Sidney Spit is a popular family destination with its long sandy beach, bird and marine life providing lots to explore. Accessible only by water, Sidney Spit is one of the region's best places to lose yourself for the day. Take a Kayak or Canoe or a 25 minute scenic ride on board the Alpine Sidney Spit Ferry. Salt marshes, tidal flats and beautiful beaches make Sidney Spit a great time for beachcombing, hiking,camping or just soaking up the sun.

Really great spot. Central location. Clean, comfortable and well equipped. Only reasons why we gave it 4 not t stars is the people who live upstairs heavy on their feet and a bit on the loud side

Relaxing home away from home

The place was lovely .It was very clean, well equipped with anything we needed. We enjoyed that it was not too close to downtown but close enough that we could walk everyday. The patio at the back is spectacular. We would certainly consider staying there again.

A great location, but......

If you've never been to Sidney and are now considering a visit - book your flights now! This is a beautiful and peaceful seaside community where people smile and make you feel welcome.

In making this review, I am considering what my expectations are - and want to try to make a potential renter aware of both the good and the bad.

What are the best things about the unit?

1. Very comfortable beds with appropriate linens.

2. Well equipped kitchen.

3. Excellent location only a few steps from the ocean walkway and only 4 blocks to downtown Sidney.

4. A pleasant outdoor patio, although I didn't use it because it was too early in the season.

5. A small washer/dryer was in the unit - a nice and convenient feature.

There are some pretty significant downsides to renting this unit, however.

1. The couch (and to a lesser extent, the rest of the furniture) were VERY uncomfortable. If only staying for a night or so this may not be a concern.

2. The rest of the house is rented to tenants. Noise transfer from them was very disruptive. At times, vulgar language was quite offensive. Arguments could easily be heard. Their footsteps, water running, etc., was obvious. I want to note that they were not unreasonably loud - it's just there was no sound proofing and the noise came through the walls.

3. The house is located on the flight path to the airport. Depending on the wind and time of day, the planes can be pretty darn loud. If this is going to bother you, please be advised.

4. The couch and carpet were stained and could do with a shampoo (or replacement).

Overall, I loved my time in Sidney. Some of the highlights were:

1. I got a short term gym membership at the Sidney Pier Hotel - a great way to stay fit in addition to all the walkable locations in the area.

2. The Sidney Bakery is full of irresistible breads and treats.

3. The Butchart Gardens is a MUST SEE.

4. The Stonehouse Pub near the Schwartz Bay ferry terminal is a lovely place for lunch.

5. The Fickle Fig is an interesting little farm-table deli on Mill Road - about a 7 minute drive from the rental property.

In summary, I spent a wonderful month in Sidney and will most definitely comeback, but I do not recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments and updates. The upstairs tenants who are partially above the Suite have received formal notice and have given us their assurance that the noise complaints will not repeat themselves. I suspect that will rectify the issue, as it never came up when we lived upstairs. If not, they'll be evicted. The carpet was new in 2016, I suspect the winter months took a toll. Our apologies. It has now been professionally cleaned. The pull-out couch has been an issue when Guests need to use it beyond the 2 bedrooms provided. We are considering replacing it this summer. I've never slept on a pull-out that was very comfortable anywhere ... but we're going to try to make this one better. We can't do much about the airplanes as they can be heard all over Sidney regardless of where you are staying. Fortunately it isn't a very busy airports, there are only a couple of Jumbo Jet flights a day but it might interrupt conversation for a few seconds while the jet passes. We will be adding more Patio furniture to the large Garden Patio this summer and the flowers that are there are stunning. Sadly, their dormant in the winter months. I'm glad you enjoyed Sidney and am sorry that you had these issues. We really wish that you would have called us while you were here about them so we could have addressed them at the time. Wonderful home. Perfect for party of four.

We stayed for a week. It was a good size for the four of us and it was nice to have a grocery store and bus stop nearby within walking distance.

With the fully equipped kitchen, I was able to cook almost everything I wanted to cook.

We hope to come back soon.
