A DREAM FOR THOSE WHO ENJOY NATURE AND WILDLIFE ALONG WITH THE WARM PEACE OF AN EVENING FIRESIDE! Stroll along an old railroad bed beside a babbling and pristine trout stream running along breathtaking mountain views. A one-of-a-kind property with more than 500 private acres containing many hillside trails for your exclusive enjoyment--many options for hiking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing or just wandering and wondering.

The flat open areas around the cabin and our full-size barn offer a variety of sites for your private events including weddings, reunions and corporate retreats. Horse stalls are available with both outside and inside shelter. And to get even further away, an extensive variety of open and wooded trails meander across and over the mountain for many miles. And we are just up the road from the north entrance to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon!

Sunsets bring on a sort of magnetism to our unmatched fire pit where many flames of debate have settled the differences of the past among friends. Of course, there is always another matter called to order for the next evening, or of course you can simply lean back, unwind, and find your answers in the stars...of which there are many! Very far from any neighbors, only the trees will hear your singing and tales, and they will pass along only a few whispers....

Inside the cabin, enjoy extensive hand-crafted woodwork and construction hewn from timbers on the property. Relax in front of a unique and inviting stone fireplace built from stones gathered from the property and surrounded by floor to ceiling windows. The fireplace rises from the center of the room with a cylindrical stack stretching up a two-story atrium and alongside a rustic spiral timber staircase. You won't want to leave this cabin...!

A little taste of Heaven on earth

  • 5 of 5

You know you had a wonderful vacation, when you are not ready to come home. We stayed here for 10 days/9 nights and it just wasn't long enough! We have been vacationing in this area for the past 8 years -- and growing up was where my family would vacation each summer. Normally we spend a good bit of time visiting places - Grand Canyon, Lyman Lake, the Lumber Museum - however this year we were so content just staying at the house. It had everything we were looking for. Plenty of trails for exploring and gorgeous views every way you look. The kids had tons of fun playing in Pine Creek and floating down through "the rapids" as they called them. We even floated right past a doe and her fawn getting a drink in the creek. The fireplace was amazing and we enjoyed roasting marshmallows and hotdogs around in. The kids even spent one night sleeping in a tent around the fireplace. The stars at night are breath-taking. We also spent quite a few evenings playing card games, darts and pool in the game room.

The house itself is beautiful. We enjoyed our evening meal out on the picnic table on the wrap around porch. The bird feeders constantly had hummingbirds visiting them. They are such amazing little creatures.

The owners were great. My husband called Joe several times throughout our stay to ask him questions - he was extremely quick to get back to us and was very helpful. It was a real pleasure renting from him.

It was the perfect family vacation at the perfect place. Thank you so much Joe, for sharing your home with us. We are already planning our stay for next summer. Thanks again for letting us enjoy our beautiful home and amazing property.

Absolutely beautiful!

  • 4 of 5

The venue was perfect! The owners were helpful when the walk in cooler wasn't turning on they told me how to fix it right away. The owners are wonderful people! Our wedding turned out exactly how I pictured it. The cabin is gorgeous and there's a great big fire pit outside we sat around after the wedding. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a wedding venue or just a place to hang with friends or family for a vacation!

GREAT place in the Pine Creek Valley

  • 5 of 5

I'm part of a group that all grew up together, but now travel from various states to meet up in the Pine Creek Valley for a fishing weekend - been doing it for 20 years. We spend nearly every moment of our day outside fishing, hanging out at the firepit, playing horseshoes and more. Finding the right spot for a quiet, relaxing get away is critical and we recently had to search out a new rental after 8 years at the same place.

The Octagon at Pine Creek not only came to the rescue, but set a new bar. The property is immense - 500 acres. We expanded from fishing, to fishing and hunting and Joe accommodated our wishes simply and smoothly - you get the impression right away that he just wants his guests to love this property like he does. We expanded the amount of public river we used to fish, to almost a mile of REALLY nice private water. No longer elbow to elbow, but we were by ourselves. We caught plenty of trout, and missed even more. When not fishing, we set up a horseshoe pit next to the fire, and grilled lots of food on the grill. The grill has a direct line to the main propane, so this made it easy for us not to travel with extra stuff. The house is a perfect blend between rustic cabin to modern necessities. It's set up with three bathrooms and ample bedrooms - all tucked away from the main dining and kitchen area. Appliances are all updated and include two washers and dryers. The house is well lit naturally and with the windows open, you let the fresh outside air in. In addition to the main house, there's also a game room. We checked it out for a few hours one night and shot some pool. This room is gigantic and a very cool place for all ages to hang out.

Finally, if I can write just a little more, it would be about Joe. His communication is nothing short of perfect. He was accommodating to no end and not intrusive at all. At the end of our trip, I talked directly to him about what we liked, where we saw potential, and he was very much appreciative of all feedback. It felt like more of a conversation between friends, then between the the traveler and renter. I have NO DOUBT we will be returning to this awesome property. Thank you, Joe!
