About Karen

My family loves to travel, and whenever we can, we choose to stay in a house or apartment. It gives us independence, privacy and most of all, the experience of living like a local.

As hosts we share the same feeling. We set up accommodations to make you feel right at home with all the amenities and convenience of enjoying Toronto as though you lived here.

Karen purchased this bungalow in 2013

Why Karen chose Fallingbrook

This Brick Bungalow is literally a 2 minute drive from our own house. It is a great little house in a quiet, family friendly neighbourhood where we can easily maintain it and be close at hand, (but not too close!) if needed.

What makes this bungalow unique

A solid house with great bones and freshly renovated on the inside. Great sized master bedroom, gorgeous floors, and open plan living spaces with the fabulous basement apartment are what sold us on this place, plus you can't beat the proximity to the park across the street or public transit seconds away.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The place was just amazing and perfect from A to Z. Since we entered we already felt at home away from home. Amazing house, and amazing hosts!! Karen and Lou was always there whenever we needed anything. When we arrived Lou explained everything about the house and how to use the electronics.

Now, let us start from when you enter:

1) the smell of cleanness and how everything was clean n new

2) the floor was sparkling (Karen did clean it her self)

3) towels (plenty of clean and nice smell towels)

4) fully equipped kitchen (karen did not forget a thing) and an amazing washing machine!!. Moreover, karen left a lot of necessities to our comfort such as, water, tea, milk, cookies, cheese ...etc in case when we first arrive we might be hungry. Also, she left maps, magazine for attractions to visit in toronto.

5) spacious place

6) washing machine room clean and comfy (karen also left soap for washing)

7) comfortable 3 bedrooms, with comfortable new mattresses and plenty of pillows!! ( I had an amazing and deep sleep although whenever i go to a new place the 1st couple of nights i can't sleep good but in here i did not)

8) high speed wifi!! ( my brother who always play online game was amazed with never lagging issue!)

9) TV with channels from all around the world, so u can still watch the tv channels u did at ur home country

10) seating outside with barbecue griller (new!!) >> Lou did the floor cement for the seating area himself and one of his friends in the next days helped him. So if you wanna smoke outside ;)

Lou even planted the garden there =D amazing how he can do that all by himself

11) bathroom equipped also with everything (shampoo, conditioner, soap, plenty plenty of paper towels *napkin*)

12) cleaning materials from A to Z (for windows, woods, ceramics ...etc)

13) parking spot that can fit 2 cars

In the end, words alone can describe how amazing the place is. I wanna go back nowwwwww :'( >_<

Believe me you wont find an amazing unit, with an amazing price, and amazing hosts like karen and lou in whole toronto!! believe me caz i tried and moved alotttt

karen and lou listen WE R COMING BACK!! can't wait to meet you guys again also

Cozy, clean, comfortable with a great location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our recent stay in the upper level suite of this home. Travelling with seniors, we wanted to be sure that they had all the creature comforts of home while we traveled. This cozy home was just the right fit. The location is excellent - located in a quiet neighbourhood that is a few blocks away from major roads and the GO Train, perfect for popping into Toronto for the day. This home is also located close to Shoppers Drug Mart (open to midnight), various restaurants, Tim Hortons, and No Frills making it easy to get groceries and necessities although our host Karen was kind enough to ensure that there was grounds and milk in the fridge for coffee in the morning. The home itself is well appointed with comfortable furniture and beds, nice appliances, plenty of kitchen smallwares, and crisp linens. The home was super clean, light, bright, and warm during our winter visit. Parking behind the home accommodated two vehicles which was perfect for us. The suite was quiet - we never heard the couple using the basement suite. Laundry is located in a common area in the basement so that it is accessible to both suites. There was also lots of cleaning supplies and a vacuum in the suite. Karen was incredibly prompt in returning emails and messages through VRBO, met us upon arrival for an orientation, checked in during the stay, and reminded us to put out the trash the night before garbage/recycling day. High speed internet was easy to access, had great signal, and never dropped, and there are lots of cable channels to choose from. For those travelling with seniors or the less-mobile, note that there is a flight of stairs to get into the house and/or down into the basement. I would highly recommend this home as a great vacation rental or short-term rental.

Great house, true to the description and the information provided.

We really enjoyed our stay at the house. All pictures and info provided were just as we found it. The house is in a quiet location close to a nice park. Karen the owner was very helpful from the start and even met us at the house when we arrived, which was late at night as we were delayed. She showed us where everything was and even messaged to check we were OK during the stay. The house was ideal location for our holiday close to visiting family and only a short ride on the GO train in Toronto for sight seeing. If you would prefer a house to a hotel close to Toronto this is a great place to stay.

Spacious, comfortable and well located accommodation.

  • 5 of 5

The property is set in a suburban Street just outside of Toronto. We occupied the whole house and it was very well appointed, clean and spacious. My 16 year old son enjoyed his solo occupancy of the basement apartment! The house was about 20minute drive from Toronto (traffic depending). We enjoyed trips to Niagara, Canada wonderland and the CN Tower. As the weather was so fabulous we also enjoyed the many beaches on Lake Ontario, but must say you'd be hard pushed to beat the beach at Scarborough bluffs, fantastic!

My only slight quibble was that the second bedroom on the top floor was pretty basic and would benefit from a mirror and more storage.

I rented the house for my mother and my sisters to have a vacation in Canada for the first time. The house was so quaint and nice. We got everything we needed. The owner was especially very helpful and available whenever I needed her to guide me. I am very very happy with Karen and her house. If I ever go back to Canada or know anybody going to Toronto for a vacation, I would definitely recommend Karen's house. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

This extremely clean, well maintained home was our first stop on our adventure this summer. The home is in great condition, in a quiet, safe, and friendly neighborhood. My family of four used the entire home. My two adult children as well as my wife and me. The comfortable living space could have easily accommodated six adults. All appliances worked well and the kitchen enabled us to make great breakfasts and when we did have supper at home, we were able to make stellar dishes utilizing the grille. Our hosts were quick to respond and very insightful if we had questions pertaining to anything Toronto. The home is just metres from a great park and there are bus lines just a block away. We did have a rental vehicle but we used the GO train from Scarborough station to downtown Toronto to avoid traffic and parking fees while visiting the diverse attractions in Toronto. There are two GO stations very close to this wonderful home. The Toronto metro is also close by. It was a very short drive to many grocery stores and restaurants. You can also walk a short distance to many shops and food on nearby Kingston Rd. Scarborough Bluffs is very close and we enjoyed hiking along the paths and going to the beach on Lake Ontario. I have to admit, it was very interesting for me (our entire family actually) to stand on the beach of a vast body of water and not have waves. Being from Southern California... Beach = waves. The bluffs are beautiful and the proximity of this comfortable home dictates a visit. We were able to park our rental in the driveway or on the street where we always found parking. This is a comfortable, safe, clean, well maintained home with fabulous hosts that can offer you a great Toronto experience.

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this house in Scarborough..very close to Toronto! It was clean, spacious, and equipped with everything we needed to feel at home. The owners, Karen and Lou, were very friendly and helpful when we needed them. There is a great park literally across the street..great for families with little ones!

This house is just a 10 min drive away from The awesome lake beach! Even though it was lake water, we felt like we were by an ocean. We spent a lot of time there building sand castles!

This was my first time renting a vacation property so I was nervous, but it went so smoothly! We would definitely stay again and recommend to our friends!
