Plenty of room!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay! Great location with plenty of rooms for our group! Garage and driveway fit our 3 cars well. Cul de sac was nice and had very friendly neighbors. Other reviews mentioned stains and cobwebs which we found to be pretty normal for a rental especially one that allows pets. We found the home to be clean. Kitchen appliances worked well. Our kids loved the huge backyard! Management was very nice and responded promptly. We enjoyed our stay and would book this property again!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your stay and for your review! We are super stoked when our guests enjoy all the space that this large home has to offer. It's great when groups can enjoy multiple living spaces and not feel crowded! We also work hard to keep our homes clean and well maintained and we are proud that our cleaning service does such a great job and had the home clean and ready for you. We always work hard to take care of our guests from first inquiry to check out and I'm thrilled that you had such a wonderful time! Thank you so much and please consider us for your next trip to the mountains of Northern Arizona!

Big place, but not so clean

  • 2 of 5

Rating Details:

The property manager was more than helpful.

The vacation rental was somewhat dirty.

I was more than happy with the location.

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental.

Reviewer Comments:

Place was spacious and was in a good location to take in Flagstaff. However it could have been much cleaner. The carpeted stairs were full of stains and in need of a rug doctor. The couches upstairs were full of stains so I would not let my toddler lay down on them. The bathroom floors had dirt and grime built up in the corners. I rent properties about 4 times per year so I have an idea of the level of cleanliness to expect. I would rate the level of cleanliness as poor. I took some pictures, but did not see a place to attach them in this review.

The Alpine Solace Lodge was a great place to stay. There were 12 of us. 7 Adults and 5 kids. The game room downstairs was a great place for all the kids to play and hangout and the upstairs great room was a nice place for the adults to visit and play games and for all of us to have meals. The house has a large backyard which was also nice for the kids to play in. The house had 5 good sized bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It was in a good location. Not too far from the Grand Canyon Deer Farm and the Walnut Canyon National Monument. Also close to dining and stores in Flagstaff. The house was very clean and all the appliances, TV's,Wi-fi, etc. worked. Overall we enjoyed staying there and would recommend to others.

Reviewer Comments:

We stayed here for the Pickin' in the Pines music festival. It was a great location - very easy to access the festival grounds - a few of us even took the 45min and walked down to the festival a couple of times. Nice neighborhood with walking paths and a playground nearby. The house itself was a nice size to accommodate 9 adults, 4 children, and 3 dogs. The open kitchen, dining area, and living room allowed us to visit easily. The back deck is beautiful. There were a few things they could work on though - the kitchen was poorly stocked with cups/glasses, general cooking supplies, and the cutting knives were horribly dull. They are about to update the flooring and carpeting on stairs, which I appreciate them notifying me in advance.. and the couches could use some replacing, too. Overall a fine place to stay, but it has the feeling of being a rental and missing some touches of homeyness you get from some places.

Reviewer Comments:

I was excited about bringing my family (10 adults) to this property and was disappointed as soon as I walked inside. The first thing I noticed was the overwhelming smell of a nursing home, then soon realized it must be coming from the filthy carpet to the stairs, the balcony screen was off the track and sitting up against the house, the BBQ grill was dirty, the couches were disgusting with drool stains on the pillows we had to cover the couches with sheets, there was food in the fridge from previous guests, the downstairs toilet wasn't flush with the floor so it rocks when you sit on it, the masters sink drips water even despite our efforts to turn the water off to that side, the downstairs sink caused the pipes to shake when you turn it on, the dishwasher door to the soap doesn't open which is the reason for the dirty dishes in the cabinets. I suggest bringing slippers and your own paper plates/cutlery, also your own bedding as the comforter had yellow stains all over it. I'm curious to know what people's standards are who rated this place 5/5, we left early on our last day because it was such a disappointment. The property manager was easy to work with, we didn't call regarding these complaints as I had my dog with me. We arrived late Friday night and we were gone all day on Saturday and left on Sunday morning. In addition, the property manager emailed me before our arrival to say there was a leak in the kitchen in the last week that caused the flooring to be warped, but a previous review in May had the same complaint! Very disappointed.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry for the experience that you had in one of our homes. The leak in the kitchen was indeed brand new and only compounded the problem with the flooring. It's all cleaned up and we've had maintenance scheduled to replace the flooring in the kitchen / living area as well as on the stairs where the carpet is quite worn. It's a big project and difficult to schedule between guests but it is scheduled and will be replaced soon. Many of the other items that you pointed out have never been brought to our attention before and we have plumbing and maintenance scheduled to address them. This home has been a lovely vacation rental for several years as evidenced by our many positive reviews. Things do wear out over time. The home is professionally cleaned before every guest and I apologize that everything wasn't perfect for you. We are working hard to replace things that have worn out or need to be replaced and I'm confident that this beautiful home will cater to many future 5 star reviews!
