Bird watcher's delight indeed!
The hummingbird kept buzzing us at the front door; then we saw her nest in the vines right there. She sat on her eggs for over a week, but then one day was gone and never returned. Probably eaten, unfortunately. This property is a 2-story townhouse with access out the backyard gate directly onto the trails of UCSB's North Campus Open Space, an amazing wetland bird sanctuary; the master bedroom has a panoramic view. The trails lead down to the beach, though it is 15-25 minutes depending on how much scrambling down the bluffs you want to do (Dune Pond trail is longer but gives easier beach access). The house is comfortable and full of books, with a fully equipped kitchen that really had just about everything we needed to cook our meals for a month-long visit. There are two full bedrooms plus a small additional room with a single bed & desk. The upstairs bathroom does have a tub as well as a shower. The downstairs is all tile, which is excellent for dogs: easy to clean! The shopping mall is walking distance away: we particularly recommend Los Agaves for dinner and the Sunday farmer's market right in front of that restaurant. There are also two gyms and a supermarket there, along with many other stores. The UCSB campus can be reached easily by bike: under 20 minutes, almost entirely on off-street bike paths through the open space and then parallel to El Colegio. The only real problem was that the manager was unresponsive for 2 weeks to minor maintenance issues.

Beautiful house near a nature preserve
The house is small, but very cozy. It has everything you need for a family. The neighborhood is quiet and there is a nice shared pool. It is perfectly located between a nature preserve, Camino Real Marketplace with many stores and restaurants and within biking distance to UCSB. It has a great backyard with a grill. The only downside is that the building could use some minor repairs and it is a bit overcrowded with stuff.

Super Location
Really enjoyed the location. Close to shopping and access to the nature preserve. Very quiet. Great neighbors and plenty of space. From our patio we even got to see 2 rocket launches from Vandenberg AFB.

Wonderful and quiet with a spectacular view
I had a wonderful stay at this delightfully creative home. The first morning I woke up and looked out the master bedroom window it took my breath away. The view of the open space is beautiful and peaceful. This home was stocked with hundreds of books, interesting decor, and unique kitchen serving dishes. I was constantly noticing something new and different. The home is not large but the space was well used. I appreciated all the different sleeping options. The King size bed was a rather firm memory foam. The queen bed was traditional and very comfortable. The twin bed was in a cozy little room and was also comfortable. The hideabed in the living room is also a nice option to have. Every room had its own desk and chair. The downstairs flooring was all tile, so very easy to clean without any worries about spilling food on rugs or carpets. The upstairs bedrooms and hallway were all carpeted so it provided a nice place for my granddaughter to get down on the ground to play with blocks and things. The rails were a little far apart to be safe for her so I installed a temporary netting along the railing area. The washing machine has a super short washing cycle, so I could actually do a complete load of laundry in about an hour. Everything I needed was there. I was very impressed with the responsiveness of the management company. We had an issue with one toilet and they had the plumber out to fix it within an hour or two. The neighbors were also very friendly. This place is not luxurious, but it has many artistic touches and is comfortable. I want to move here!
