About the property

Studio With Loft Just 3 Miles From Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Charming stand-alone studio in a very private, peaceful and secluded location. Just three miles from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and six miles from the Volcano Golf Course and Volcano Winery, you can enjoy the native birds who seranade you amongst the fern forest. Our studio provides you with a Queen-sized bed, loft, kitchenette, bathroom/shower, skylights and radiant heating. There is a picnic table in the carport and private covered parking. Just 30 minutes from Hilo, you can enjoy the beaches and waterfalls and all Hilo town has to offer and then get away to the serenity of Volcano and spend your nights in the cooler temperatures and see the glow of the Volcano. From Kona, it's about a two-hour drive, but very pretty and lots to see in between. About 30 minutes South of Volcano, is the beautiful black sand Punaluu Beach. Volcano Village, only 2 miles away, has a number of restaurants (menus at the house), a post office, convenience store, and a few other little stores. This Village is also known for it's artist studios sprinkled all throughout town. On Sunday mornings, there is a farmer's market in the village.

Very nice comfortable small place

  • 5 of 5

This place is very private as you drive down a private driveway off a smaller road and there is mostly rainforest landscape surrounding it. It is a small place for 2, but there is also a loft with another bed. The place was very clean and very quiet and has a small kitchen area that had everything we needed. It is very close to Volcano National Park which is where we spent our 2 days. I highly recommend this very quiet, very clean place, and the bed is very comfortable too!

Very cute, very clean, simple but well put together!

  • 5 of 5

We had a quick but lovely time.

I did make the suggestion of a few more bath towels- as it is a damp and cool almost cold in winter for us locals ~ and towels did not dry. Coffee pot needed replacing... but other than that~Everything was great!

Very close to Volcano and Kileuea Lodge, food, and very quiet and peaceful. Could have stayed longer!

Wonderful quiet, reserved cottage in the woods

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon. We live in Honolulu, but were originally from Alaska and were craving a quieter, less touristy, isolated getaway spot. This was perfect! The cottage/cabin was comfortable and cozy but not tiny. It has a bed, full kitchen (minus oven, but has a hotplate range), table for eating and working, and all the necessary trimmings. It's not far from Volcano town, but distant enough that you get away from any major roads or flight paths, which was wonderful. Joy was very responsive and attentive to our few needs.

If you're looking for lots of social activities and traditional tropical paradise activities, Volcano is probably not for you, but being from Honolulu, ourselves, we were were looking to get away from all that. It's cooler, rural, and absolutely beautiful. Volcano itself is very quiet and small, there's a general store or two (we found one place and just got to know them), a few surprisingly good restaurants, a laundromat, and a hardware supply store. Not really much town or city activities, but who needs that, anyway? Otherwise, lots of incredible hiking and natural exploration in the park. $15 gets you a 5-day pass for everyone in your party.

cozy quiet retreat

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful stay so close to the park and village of Volcano. Was there during one of the colder periods, and was toasty without the heater! Loved the privacy and lush surroundings. The quiet was amazing (and refreshing!).

Comfortable and great location for the Volcano NP.

  • 4 of 5

Didn't spend much time in the property as there was just so much to do on this side of the island. Improvements for us would be an electric kettle and some comfy seats inside on which to relax after a long day out. Given the altitude of the property and the fact it rains in this part of Hawaii, it wasn't always warm enough to be on the terrace in the evenings. That said the peace and quiet of the area was lovely. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This clean, quiet, secluded studio was just the thing for our home base to explore the big island!

We enjoyed our time here. The studio is beautiful, with just the essentials for a comfortable stay. It was handy to be able to park in the covered patio during the rain. The owners were hands off yet gave us all the information necessary for a good time.
