About this property

Convenient Cabin For Boating, Hiking, ATVing, Fishing, and R&R

This charming four seasons cabin overlooking the Vega Reservoir, is located adjacent to Vega State Park in Mesa County. The Vega State Park, at an elevation of 7700 feet, is located in Unit 421 and offers thousands of acres of public land for ATVing, hiking, sightseeing, camping, hunting, and snowmobiling. The deep waters of the Vega Reservoir offer recreational boating and year round fishing.

The cabin, which is decorated in a western, rustic theme, comes fully stocked for your stay. All you need to bring is food and beverages, and your personal items. The cabin is unique in that the water is supplied via cisterns located in the lower crawl space. There are 3 cisterns which hold a total of approximately 600 gallons of water, which we haul from nearby Collbran. We do NOT have a water well. We seek renters who are responsible, respectful, water conscious, and who will treat our cabin as if it were their own. We have recently installed a low volume flush toilet which helps greatly with the water usage. If you are comfortable flushing only when it's "yellow" or every other time, we would appreciate it. We don't demand water conservation, but appreciate and encourage efforts to conserve this valuable mountainside cabin commodity. If you are considering renting our cabin and are not comfortable with the water conservation practices, this is not a good fit. Conservation measures will in turn help us keep our rental fees down, which in turn will benefit our guests.

The cabin is approximately 900 square feet. The kitchen, dining, and living room area is an open concept design. The kitchen is fully furnished and ready for meal preparation. The wood stove in the living room provides ample and very efficient heating for the winter months or cool spring and fall mornings and evenings. The bedroom has a gueen size bed and closet. The bathroom, between the bedroom and kitchen, has a vanity sink, a very small shower stall and toilet. There are doors on each side of the bathroom, and at the bedroom entrance to the living room, to allow privacy.

There is DISH satellite TV services as well as DISH internet services. Cell service is available with cell phone on "WIFI calling". The internet service can be, admittedly, temperamental, especially during inclement weather. We find that it is helpful if we just wait a bit and do a reset on the modem. The internet package is not large and we appreciate no or little streaming. The internet definitely does not like several devices in use at the same time.

There is a huge raised deck off the front of the house with spectacular, breathtaking views of the Vega Reservoir and surrounding mountains. During the day one can sun and relax on the deck, and in the evening sit around the chiminea on the deck and watch the evening boaters and stars.

The cabin is located in a small community of homes, a half a mile off a county maintained road. There is a circle drive with ample parking for a car, ATV and trailer, or small boat. In the winter months, depending on snow fall amounts, guests may have to park their vehicle in the parking lots below and snowmobile or ATV up to the cabin, adding more adventure and charm to the whole experience!

Lake Cabin Haven
We have stayed at this cozy mountain cabin overlooking the lake many times. It's always clean and welcoming and there is plenty of wildlife right outside the front door to entertain us. The deck is a wonderful place to have morning coffee or an afternoon glass of wine. The hosts are wonderful and easy to work with - always concerned with their guests comfort. Great stay!

Wonderful Experience at Vega
My wife and I absolutely loved our stay! The place is clean, comfortable, adequately supplied is an understatement and the view! We're on a first name basis with the hummingbirds. We'll work on the deer again next year. The owners are wicked nice and were completely available during our stay. Communication with them before and during our stay was outstanding. We'll be back!

Made us feel right at home!
Sally and Rich’s place was so awesome! It was very secluded so this would be a great place if you want to go somewhere far away from people and enjoy the local parks. The house was super clean and the natural light that surrounded in thanks to the windows came in handy when we wanted to watch the run rise. The water was never a issue and the temp when we went in the beginning of June was awesome inside! Even with it getting cooler at night it was perfect. Sally and rich made sure our stay was perfect and it showed down to the little welcome card they left us! Thank you guys again we will be back!!
