**Enjoy Your Hawaii Vacation At The Edge Of Waikiki**
- english, french, german, korean
I arrived in Honolulu in 1996 and purchased this house in 2007. I currently own and have owned several businesses in Honolulu. I love to read books, sing Karaoke and travel. Especially to Hawaii's 9th island, fabulous Las Vegas.
Mario purchased this House in 2007
Why Mario chose Diamond Head - Kapahulu - St. Louis
Location Location Location. 5 minutes away from busy, noisy Waikiki and located on the southern, sunny side of Oahu.
What makes this House unique
Very quiet area. I am a very dedicated owner to accommodate any needs you may have.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
Close to most places we went to visit. A little dated but the right amount of room for 7 adults.
Only suggestions for property update furniture but honestly not an issue. You really do need a toaster. If there was one we could not find it. Over all great for a short stay in Oahu
I read the comments from previous renters - but thought most would have been taken care of. Unfortunately, they weren't.
This rental could desperately needs cleaned by a professional - including the air conditioning units. Peeling art/paint needs fixed. Towels are awful. Windows looked out onto yards of junk. No toaster/toaster oven. No BBQ to use. Would prefer blankets to comforters to ensure cleanliness. Steep set of steps up to the unit.
It says there's a balcony - but you're told not to use it upon arrival. There's a washer and dryer - but it's in the garage of the unit below. Definitely accessible - but just didn't know until arrival.
Location is central but, as another reviewer posted, the neighborhood was not what I would describe as desirable. I wouldn't be out after dark and would not let my family be out. I definitely would NOT walk anywhere from that location.
The bathrooms were not all encompassing. The toilet in shower for each had their own doors - but the sinks were separate.
There's one parking spot in front of the unit and it's not optimal.
On the bright side, Suzanne and Mario were very easy to deal with. Suzanne was great to meet us and walk through the home. Mario was responsive and even mailed a jacket we left behind. Wifi was provided.
We really enjoyed our stay - Location was great (close to Waikiki and Kapahulu area)! 7 of us were able to comfortably stay at this big 3 bedroom location!!
The price was right for our large family
I will start by saying that it was clean and Suzanne that met us at the rental was very sweet. I read all the reviews prior to booking and am a bit disheartened that there were not more concerns on the location. The description of 5 minutes from beach is not accurate, we map quested it as soon as we arrived and it was 20 minutes due to traffic. The neighborhood was not what I would describe as desirable. It actually made me very uncomfortable to be out after dark in. The windows overlooked yards full of junk and there were apartments all round that seemed a bit sketchy. Inside, I would agree with previous comments that it was a bit dated, there were broken, moving tiles that pinched your feet as you walked across them. There was duct tape on the steep stairs as you walked up to the rental. The screen door to the balcony was marked with a sign that said broken, do not use. The toaster did not work as described in previous reviews and the pots and pans were well used. The toilet made a pumping sound for several minutes after you flushed it. The towels were thin and worn. There were several tears and holes in the screens so using the air conditioning was the only option. However, it was nice to have the option of AC because there were several places that didn't offer that. We did appreciate the ability to do laundry and having the detergent available as well as the fridge being stocked with some condiments. The beach towels and beach equipment was nice to have. It did supply enough space for my large family and the beds were comfortable.
We really enjoyed our stay. This is a perfect location for numerous activities-hiking Diamond Head and Manoa Falls, buying malsadas from Leonard’s, and visiting Pearl Harbor. Suzanne was incredibly helpful!
Before booking this rental, I knew things were dated, but a lot of people praised how clean the home was that we didn't care about the decor. We were also looking forward to a fully equipped kitchen, but that was also disappointing. This home was not very clean and we barely used the kitchen because the pots and pans were not safe to use. Each one was either scratched or the non-stick surfaces were so bad they would flake just by touching them. They were greasy underneath of them and we washed each piece of drinkware we pulled before using it. The toaster would work for 10 seconds and that was it. We struggled to cook toast for over 20 mins for our kids. The coffee pot was so burned on the base that it would smell bad every time we brewed a pot. We were also left with an dirty smelly sponge that I wouldn't wash a garbage can with. We reverted to a wash cloth instead. Needless to say, we didn't use the kitchen too much in this home and ate out a lot. I was also disappointed that there's a picture of a BBQ area but there is no BBQ to use?
In addition, there was dust so thick that I was afraid to let my 8 month old crawl around. There are cracks in some of the floor tiles and tape on the stairs. The light switches were covered in filth and we even found a food/coffee spill down one of the (white) cabinets that was never cleaned. I took photos of things, but can't upload them to my review or I would.
In addition, the towels were old and not soft at all. The other linens were ok, but they were washed so heavily in fabric softener they almost felt like they weren't rinsed before dried.
The beach gear was sub-par at best.
The parking is terrible.
The balcony is not really accessible (not that you'd want to use it).
The only positive thing this rental had was a clean pack-n-play we used as a substitute crib.
The location is good as it’s close to a lot of tourist things and Waikiki beach, but I would not stay here again.
